Chapter 16

The black knight entered the empty white room, followed closely by David.
"Where are we?" David wondered as the black-clothed man waved his arm. The illusion disappeared, and the real room was revealed.
"So, I see you've brought one of the knights with you." The woman in white commented. The man in black said nothing.
"Who the heck are you?" David inquired, as the black knight hadn't answered any questions on their flight back to Team Rocket's headquarters.
"We are the mighty Draconic Knights!" The red knight replied.
"Who?"
"We are the people that Sir Michael put in charge of Team Rocket while he's on vacation." The white knight replied.
"Vacation? Cut the crap, I've met Michael. He said he's been out in those mountains for years now."
"So, you do know something, at least...very well. It's time for you to fulfil your purpose." The white knight decided.
"My purpose? What the heck are you talking about?"
"Do you know the legend of the Elemental Pokemon, young one?" The man in yellow asked.
"Of course I do," David replied, "Everyone does. Using the eight staves, the eight Elemental Pokemon were summoned on Zen Island fifteen years ago. Then, Michael sealed them away, or something."
"I did not ask if you knew what happened fifteen years ago," The yellow knight responded, "I asked if you knew the legend of the Elemental Pokemon."
"That's not it?"
"The Elemental Pokemon were the first Pokemon that man ever created," The yellow knight began, "But their structure was unstable. They almost killed every human and Pokemon in the world. But Sir Giovanni I, the original leader of Team Rocket, went to the great shamans for help. The shamans created eight staves, and using the power of those staves, Sir Giovanni and his top administrators sealed away the eight Elemental Pokemon."
"Do you think I'm an idiot?" David responded. "Pokemon weren't created by man, they were created by Arceus. And the Elemental Pokemon weren't the first Pokemon Arceus created, Dialga and Palkia were. Everyone knows that."
"Everyone thinks that." The yellow knight corrected David. "Arceus isn't real. The legends of Arceus are just an attempt to cover up the truth. No one wants to believe the truth...that Pokemon were created by man."
"And how do I know you're telling the truth?" David asked.
"Have you seen the Elemental Pokemon?"
"Yeah, almost everyone has. Some fisherman captured the fight on his video camera fifteen years ago."
"Have you ever seen Arceus?" There was a silence.
"...Even if you are telling the truth, so what?" David eventually asked. "What's your point?"
"There's a little more to the legend than what the yellow knight told you," The red knight replied, "The video you're talking about ran out of batteries before the end of the fight."
"Well, yeah, but everybody knows that Michael and Bobby's team won, because they're still alive, and the other guy isn't."
"That is true," The yellow knight replied, "But do you know how Sir Michael and his friends won?"
"Their Elemental Pokemon managed to do enough damage to knock out the Team Rocket guy's?"
"That is incorrect," The yellow knight answered, "They won because Sir Michael summoned the ninth Elemental Pokemon."
"The ninth? I thought there were only eight."
"As do most people. The ninth can only be summoned when all eight staves and all eight Elemental Pokemon are gathered, and a ritual is performed. Because the end of that fisherman's videotape is the extent of most people's knowledge about the Elemental Pokemon, virtually no one knows about it."
"I'll ask again, what's your point?"
"We need you to do a little job for us." The white knight explained.
"And what would that be?" David was getting a little tired of listening to the knights babble.
"Remove the altars from which the eight Elemental Pokemon are summoned from their rightful places," The white knight explained, "And bring them back here."
"And how am I supposed to do that?" David asked.
"Seek out Geraldo, one of the boys who is training under Michael," The white knight answered, "I believe you've met him."
"Yeah, the freshman kid. Always doing whatever the college kid does."
"That is the one," The white knight confirmed, "He is currently acquiring the power necessary to move the altars."
"And what's in it for me if I help you?"
"Revenge, of course," The white knight replied, "Against the teacher who expelled you from Olemenun Academy. Not only will you get to kill him...but you'll take his staff, as well."
"That's good enough motivation for me." A small smirk grew on David's face.
"Now go." The white knight commanded. She waved her arm, and David was in the empty white room once again.
"This'll be fun." He chuckled.

Honchkrow and Crobat landed in Hanaero Town, near the hospital. As Honchkrow helped Brandon into his wheelchair, Paris sent out his Ditto. Ditto hopped onto Paris's head, and the teenage boy was transformed into the same old man he had been in Poisawa Town.
"So you're sure they'll be here?" Brandon asked as Paris began to push him toward the hospital.
"There's no way they wouldn't take the bait." Paris replied as he pushed open the doors to the hospital. Sure enough, Chey's group was sitting in the lobby, waiting for Dave.
"Hey! Brandon! What are you doing here?" Mrs. Searle asked upon noticing the two men entering the building.
"And isn't that the old man that told us that this is where we'd find Danielle?" Chey noticed.
"Hello there, youngsters," Paris said in an old man's voice, "We decided we'd come see how Danielle is doing." He walked up to the front desk, pushing Brandon.
"What room is Danielle in?" Brandon asked.
"Geez, is every Gym Leader on the planet coming to visit her?" The receptionist asked rhetorically. "Room 455."
"Thank you." Brandon thanked her.
"We're going to go check on Danielle and her patient," Paris announced, "We'll be right back down."
"While you're up there, see what's taking Dave so long." Mr. Pennington said, impatient as always.
"Will do." Paris chuckled as he got onto the elevator.

"Paris?! But he died fifteen years ago!" Dave exclaimed.
"I know," Danielle replied, "That's how I became Gym Leader. But I had been training under Paris as a Gym Trainer...this definitely looks like his work."
"Can you cure it?" Spencer asked, concerned for his brother's life.
"My Pokemon's antivenom can counter most of the poison, but not all of it." Danielle responded with dismay.
"Why not?" Spencer wondered.
"They can't get rid of Paris's signature toxin," Danielle explained, "Grounoo extract. Even getting a Grounoo is hard enough, but extracting poison from it is damn near impossible."
"And you'd need some Grounoo extract to make the antivenom?"
"That's right." All three Gym Leaders were silent and had somber looks on their faces.
"Perhaps I could help with that." Paris, still under the guise of an old man, walked off of the elevator, pushing Brandon down the hallway.
"Who are you?" Danielle asked.
"Just a man," Paris answered, "Who happens to know how Paris extracted poison from his Grounoo."
"Can you help us?" Danielle inquired.
"I'd be happy to." Paris replied. He wheeled Brandon over to Dave and reached for a Pokeball on his belt, sending out his Grounoo. Danielle opened the door, and the two poison-type trainers entered the room with Grounoo. Dave and Spencer peered through the window to see what was going on.
"The thing most people don't know," Paris explained, "Is that the vast majority of Grounoo's poison lies within its eye." He took a needle from one of the tables and suddenly shoved it into the soily layer on the back of the Pokemon's eyeball. The Grounoo didn't seem to mind, and it didn't look like the needle was hurting it at all. When Paris withdrew the needle, it was filled with a greenish-brown liquid.
"Great!" Danielle exclaimed. "Now we can..."
"...And here comes the hard part," Paris continued, "As an antivenom, there's only one way to administer this poison."
"And that is...?" Danielle wondered.
"It has to be absorbed into the patient's eyes," Paris answered, "And it hurts. A lot."
"Whatever it takes." Danielle decided, looking out the window to see Spencer nodding his head.
"Hold him down." The nurses walked over to the bed, and each one grabbed one of Jefferson's limbs. Danielle placed a small metal device around his eye, to prevent him from closing it. Paris walked over to the bed and lifted the needle above Jefferson's eye. He slowly pushed on the back of the needle, causing a few drops to fall onto Hanaero Town's Gym Leader's eye. Suddenly, his other eye opened wide, and he began to scream.
"And when does the pain stop?" Danielle asked.
"When the poison gets fully absorbed," Paris responded, "Usually about five minutes." Jefferson began to kick violently, but the nurses kept him held down with all their might. The Gym Leaders waited, watching as Jefferson began to resist less and less. Eventually, he stopped moving completely, and his eyes closed.
"He'll need to rest for a few hours." Paris explained as he opened the door and walked out.
"Just who are you?" Danielle was beginning to get suspicious of the old man's knowledge. "I trained under Paris for five years, and never once did I hear anything about using Grounoo extract as an antivenom. You just waltz right in here, and you know. Something's fishy."
"Very well," Paris sighed, "I was going to have to take off the disguise in order to talk to Chey, anyways." He snapped his fingers, and the Ditto appeared on his head as his disguise faded.
"Paris?!" Danielle, Dave, and Spencer were all shocked.
"You did this to him?! I'll kill you!" Spencer shouted, greatly angered. He reached for a Pokeball on his belt.
"I didn't do this to him," Paris responded, "What makes you think I did?"
"Grounoo extract is your signature," Danielle answered, "And the fact that you're alive just supports the theory that it was you."
"It wasn't him," Brandon said, "He's been with me the past few days. He couldn't have done it."
"And why should we believe you? You're his friend, you're probably just covering for him!" Spencer exclaimed.
"If it was me, why would I have cured him for you?" Paris asked, pointing to Jefferson.
"So that we wouldn't suspect you!" Spencer responded.
"Oh yeah, and that worked real well." Paris retorted sarcastically.
"What other poisons were found in his system?" Brandon asked. A nurse walked over and handed Danielle a sheet of paper.
"...Arbok, Ariados, Crobat, Drapion, Skuntank, and Ninjog." Danielle read.
"And who do we know that has those Pokemon?" Paris asked confidently. All eyes turned to Danielle.
"Crap," Danielle cursed, "You're smarter than I thought."
"It's not nice to lie to old men, Danielle," Paris smirked, "You learned all about Grounoo extract while you were training under me. Y'know...I think it was your favorite Pokemon, too."
"Tch...Skuntank, Smokescreen!" Danielle threw a Pokeball onto the ground, and it opened up to reveal the big blue skunk with a white-tipped tail, Skuntank. It released a cloud of black gas from its tail that expanded into the room and the hallway.
"Crobat, Defog!" Paris threw his Crobat's Pokeball into the air, and the purple bat Pokemon flapped its four wings furiously. When the smoke cleared, Danielle and her Pokemon were gone.
"Make sure he didn't inhale any smoke!" Paris shouted. The nurses rushed over to the bed, examining the readings on the machines.
"He didn't." One nurse informed Paris.
"Good..." Paris sighed, "So, do you believe me now?"
"Shut up." Spencer was still upset.
"So why did you come here?" Dave asked. "I doubt it was just to expose Danielle. You probably didn't even know about all that."
"I came to talk to one of the kids you're traveling with," Paris replied, "Chey Ailart."
"She's downstairs."
"I know. I was just about to go talk to her."
"Well, let's go, then. Jefferson needs his rest." The four conscious Gym Leaders walked downstairs, and the nurses stayed in the room, to make sure nothing happened to the sleeping Gym Leader's vitals.

Michael floated in the air on a disc of electricity, above the sphere of ice in which Tatiana was frozen. Dan stood on a pillar of vines several yards away, and a Flygon flew beside Michael.
"I'll kill you!" Dan raised his staff, and vines extended from the pillar her stood on, poised to attack Michael.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," Michael responded. He thrusted his staff downward, and it went a few inches into the ice. "The gray staff is already charged with electricity, just waiting to release it. If you attack me, Flygon will use Flamethrower on this sphere...and then it's all over for your precious Tatiana."
"Crap..." Dan muttered, trying to figure out what to do.
"Let's play a little game, Daniel." A maniacal expression grew on Michael's face. The rules are simple. Four of your little friends are down there, awaiting the result of this fight. Every five minutes that pass, I'll kill one of them."
"You can't! Procter's Rhyperior is absorbing all of your thunderbolts!" Dan shouted.
"I didn't say I was going to kill them using my power, did I?" Michael asked rhetorically. "I've got hundreds of Pokemon just waiting in the house below us. On my command, they'll rush out and do whatever I say."
"Tch..." Dan muttered, "So what is this game of yours?"
"Well, four times five is twenty. Five minutes after the last of the people down there dies, I'll kill your precious Tatiana. So, you've got twenty five minutes."
"To do what?!"
"To kill me, of course."
"I can do that in ten seconds!" Vines began to rise from the pillar on which Dan stood.
"You're forgetting the first rule of the game!" Michael exclaimed. "If you attack me with your staff...Tatiana will die instantly."
"So I have to use my Pokemon? No problem." Dan threw three Pokeballs toward Michael, and they opened to reveal Mosstatue, the final evolution of Dan's starter Pokemon; Tornoulder, the large tornado Pokemon with rocky fists; and Treecera, the large green triceratops with flowery horns and a sharp, leafy tail. The three Pokemon appeared on the roof, ready to fight.
"How predictable," Michael remarked, "You're using the same Pokemon you had fifteen years ago." He threw three Pokeballs of his own into the air, and they opened to reveal his Tyrnferno, Tyzer, and Elketric. The three Pokemon launched their attacks at Dan's Pokemon, matching their weaknesses perfectly. Suddenly, a wall of vines sprouted up from the roof, blocking the attacks.
"You said I couldn't attack you with my staff..." Dan realized, "But you didn't say anything about your Pokemon!" The wall split up into individual vines that wrapped around Michael's Pokemon, squeezing them and knocking them unconscious. Dan's Pokemon charged toward Michael, launching their own attacks.
"Very clever." Michael waved his staff, and bolts of electricity struck Dan's Pokemon, knocking them back several feet and causing them to almost fall off of the roof.
"Keep attacking!" Dan commanded. His Pokemon got back up and attacked again, only to be thwarted once more by Michael's staff. The Pokemon continued to attempt an assault, but they were knocked back by electricity every time.
"You're never going to kill me like that." Michael commented.
"I'm not trying to," Dan replied with a smirk, "I'm just buying time." He flicked his wrist, and suddenly, the roof under Tatiana's sphere of ice exploded. Vines reached out and grabbed the sphere, pulling it down before Michael had time to react.
"What the heck?!" Michael wondered. The vines dragged the ball of ice through the upper floor of the house, destroying everything within like a wrecking ball. A hole burst open in the wall closest to Dan, and the vines pulled Tatiana's sphere out, placing it back on top of the ice pillar. They then slammed it mercilessly, causing it to shatter. Tatiana fell a few feet from the center of the sphere to the top of the ice pillar, but she was completely unharmed.
"What the...what's going on?" Tatiana wondered. While encased in the ball of ice, she couldn't see or hear anything, so the current situation was very confusing to her.
"Michael almost killed you," Dan explained, "But I saved you."
"So you saved her...for now," Michael said, "But guess what? Five minutes have passed!" He snapped his fingers, and the front doors of his mansion opened. Other than that, nothing happened.
"What?! Where are my Pokemon?!"
"Did you think that rescuing Tatiana was the only thing my vines were doing in there?" Dan asked confidently. "Please. That would've taken thirty seconds. They were also knocking out all of your Pokemon."
"Crap..." Michael was surprised by Dan's brilliant plan. "Fine. Then it's time we fight for real." He raised his staff into the air, and the electrical dome surrounding the area was absorbed back into it. The staff crackled with electricity, as if it was overloaded.
"This isn't good." Dan realized.
"Die!" Michael yelled as he swung his staff forward. a huge blast of electricity flew toward Dan and Tatiana. Tatiana had finally recovered from the shock of being unfrozen, and she summoned a large wall of ice to reflect the blast. Surprisingly, the blast went right through the wall rather than reflecting off of it.
"What?!" Tatiana was surprised.
"Nice try, but I knew you'd do that!" Michael shouted. "So I launched a blast with a different wavelength!" Just in time, Dan conjured a wall of vines to absorb the attack and protect him and his wife.
"At this rate, we're going to lose...we need to use that attack we've been working on!" Dan decided.
"Right!" Tatiana agreed. She waved the blue staff, and shards of ice appeared all around Michael. The shards were thin and large, and looked just like mirrors. The shards closed in, so there were no holes in the sphere of ice mirrors. Dan waved the green staff, and vines enveloped him, then receded into the pillar, so it was like he disappeared. The top half of the pillar split into tons of large vines that flew toward the ice sphere and surrounded it, forming another layer of sphere around Michael. As expected, Michael attacked, and the ice mirrors shattered. Before Michael realized that Dan was right above him, inside the viny prison, he was already being wrapped by countless vines. Even though she could not see inside the sphere, Tatiana controlled the ice shards that the mirrors had broken into, and caused them to fly in toward Michael. The ice covered all the gaps that the vines did not, and expanded, covering the vines along with Michael. Dan quickly shot vines from the tip of his staff and grabbed the gray staff, pulling it out of Michael's grasp. The viny sphere that he and Michael were in broke apart, and Dan was carried back to his pillar by the vines. The electric disc beneath Michael's feet disappeared, and he fell down toward the hole in the roof. Just before he would fall through it, Tatiana caused a large sheet of ice to form over it. Icy claws shot up from the sheet and grabbed Michael, sticking him in place in the center of the sheet, about two feet above it. His torso and his limbs were covered in ice and vines, and only his head stuck out.
"Now let's finish this!" Dan shouted, waving his staff again. Vines covered in thousands of sharp thorns sprouted out from his pillar, ready to attack Michael.
"No!" Tatiana exclaimed. "We can't kill him!"
"He just tried to kill us!" Dan responded. "And it isn't even the first time, either!"
"But if we kill him, we'll be as bad as him! We'll be worse than him!" Tatiana replied. "Nobody deserves to die! Not even him!"
"Tatiana...!" He turned to her and looked into her eyes. They stared at eachother for several minutes, not saying anything.
"...Let's go." Dan eventually said. It was obvious from the tone of his voice that he was extremely angry, and still would have liked to have killed Michael. The pillars of vine and ice shrunk, and the two staff wielders stepped onto the ground.
"I take it you won." Procter guessed.
"Something like that," Dan replied bitterly, "Let's go." He walked past his fellow teachers and the Gym Leaders, sending out his Skarlord.
"What happened?" Megan wondered.
"It's nothing." Tatiana answered in a tone that made it obvious that she didn't want to talk about it. She sent out her Meteoclips, and the other trainers sent out their flying Pokemon. The group took off, heading toward the Hiraisui Triangle to meet up with Bobby's group.

The Gym Leaders walked downstairs and met up with the group of students and teachers in the lobby.
"Hey...you're...there was a picture of you in the Poisawa Town Gym..." Drake immediately recognized Paris. "Aren't you the previous Gym Leader of Poisawa Town?"
"Yup." Paris answered.
"What? You're supposed to be dead!" Mr. Lawson exclaimed.
"Yeah, that wasn't workin' out too well. Got boring." Paris said nonchalantly.
"Wasn't he a bad guy?" Emily became worried. "Didn't any of you hear the stories about him? He used to..."
"Relax," Dave interrupted her, "He's on our side now."
"Where did that old man go?" Chey wondered, as she didn't see him in the group of Gym Leaders. Paris raised his arm.
"That'd be me," He said, "Sorry 'bout that."
"What? Why? Why would you be disguised as an old man?" Chey wondered.
"It made it easier for him to get your name," Brandon replied, "If the dead Gym Leader came up to you guys in Poisawa Town, somebody woulda freaked."
"No argument there." Mr. Pennington interjected.
"My name? Why would you want my name?" Chey asked.
"...You should sit down." Paris sighed and brought two folding chairs over from the wall. He sat in one, and faced Chey, who sat in the other.
"What's going on?" Mrs. Searle whispered to Mr. Lawson.
"You've got me." Mr. Lawson replied.
"Chey Ailart." Paris sat back in his chair, but he was anything but relaxed. "Your mom gave you her maiden name."
"Yeah, she had me before she married dad, so she thought it'd be best if I kept her maiden name."
"So, do you know who your biological father is?"
"Mom said he died when I was one or two years old."
"Yeah...I did." Paris looked to the floor. Chey's eyes began to widen as she realized what he meant.
"...No way. No way. You couldn't be...you're my age!"
"I've been dead for fifteen years, Chey. People don't age when their bodies have been burnt to cinders."
"But...you! No way, there's no way that you could be..."
"I'm sorry, Chey," Paris apologized, "Back then, I was...I didn't think. I did stupid crap and messed around a lot. I never thought about the consequences of my actions. When Melinda...when your mom told me the news, I..."
"You went ahead and got yourself killed so you wouldn't have to take care of me?! Is that it?!"
"No!" Paris exclaimed. "Nothing like that. Chey, I died a lot back then. Brandon here kept bringing me back, and I swear, every time, I wanted to be there to help your mom."
"How am I supposed to believe that?!" Chey asked. She was sobbing. "You said it yourself, you messed around a lot! It's not like I was the first time that that happened! Why would you stop doing what you do just to take care of me?!"
"Because, Chey, you were the first time that happened." Chey was speechless. "As soon as Melinda told me, I stopped messing around. I was going to help raise you. But then...I did something stupid. I tried to get revenge on one of the people that killed me. And...he killed me again...and burned my body. His Pokemon was what put Brandon in a wheelchair, too. Brandon couldn't bring me back if he didn't have my body...especially not in his condition."
"Then how are you here now?!" Chey questioned.
"After fifteen years of research, he finally found a way to bring me back," Paris replied, "And the only reason he could do it...well, was for the same reason that I'm telling you this now."
"What the heck are you talking about?!" Chey was confused.
"Chey...I know you might not be able to believe me, and that's understandable. You probably don't trust me. But this is very important."
"What is it?" Chey folded her arms, frustrated.
"It has to do with your uncle and your grandfather," Paris answered, "The two most recently deceased leaders of Team Rocket; Jacob XI and Jacob XII."
"...What?!" Chey was even more surprised than she had been when Paris had said that he was her father.
"Jacob XI had two sons...he just didn't know about one of them," Paris explained, "Jacob XII never told anyone about it, but there were times when he could only use the power of the black staff. Those were the times that I was alive."
"So...what are you saying?"
"Jacob XI's lineage split into two branches because of me. Because of that, his family's connection to the staves was split, too. Jacob XII gained the power of the black staff...and I gained the power of the white. When I was dead, the power of the white staff became his as well, but when I was alive...it was mine."
"So then...that means..."
"It means that the white staff belongs to you now. You're the only one who can use its power." The entire group's mouths were agape. No one could believe the news.
"So then...Chey is..." Mrs. Searle began.
"Chey's our only hope," Paris said, "She's the only one that can stop those boys that stole the black staff."
---
Note: Alright, I know that it gets a little confusing since "knight" is a piece in chess as well as the short way to say "Draconic Knight"...so bear with me. If you get confused, let me know.
Note: Yes, that's right, even though Gamefreak came up with a creation myth for Pokemon, I found a way to say "I'm right, you're wrong" about it. Muahaha.

Chapter 17

"I'd like to thank you once again for your assistance." Vampyro stood in front of the Draconic Knights, opposite the chess table.
"I held up my side of the bargain, just as I said I would," The white knight responded, "Now it's your turn."
"Ah yes, of course." Vampyro began rubbing his chin, as if trying to remember something. "What was it that I was supposed to do, again?"
"The theatrics are not appreciated. You know very well what your side of the bargain was," The white knight replied, "Where is the white staff?"
"Ah yes, the white staff..." Vampyro acted like he was deep in concentration, "Let's see, let's see...ah, yes, of course." He began to laugh.
"Where is it?" The yellow knight asked.
"Well...let's just say that it's within your organization...or rather, it was," Vampyro answered, "In fact, it's probably on your little chess board, too." He pointed to the chessboard.
"I did not unfreeze you so you could give me a vague hint," The white knight demanded, "Where is the white staff?"
"Yes, you see, here's the problem with that," Vampyro responded, "While you may have some very powerful Pokemon at your disposal, you're just humans. And as humans, you have a tragic flaw...you die quite easily." In a flash, his fiery shuriken appeared in his hands, and he dashed forward toward the white knight.
Clang!
"Come now, Vampyro, I thought that you were smarter than that," The white knight said, "Did you honestly think that the 'Knight' part of our title held no significance?" Vampyro's shuriken was met by a shining white longsword that seemed to glow as brightly as the sun. For the first time, Vampyro noticed a sheath on the white knight's side. The knight flicked her arm and sent Vampyro flying backwards. The vampire flapped his wings, stopping himself before he hit the wall.
"What?" Vampyro was shocked by the white knight's counterattack.
"Now, I suggest you cooperate and tell me where the staff is," The white knight requested, "Or things could get quite unpleasant for you."
"Tch..." Vampyro thought, "If I attack again, she'll have time to send out her Pokemon...and if that happens, I'm screwed."
"Very well," He said aloud, "The white staff is in the hands of six former Team Rocket executives."
"The Elemental Six." The white knight realized.
"Bingo." Vampyro confirmed.
"Very well. You are dismissed." Vampyro snapped his fingers and disappeared, leaving the five knights alone once again.
"You didn't tell me you had made a deal with the rook." The red knight commented.
"I didn't think it was important enough to warrant wasting your time, sir," The white knight replied, "After all, you're..."
"The leader of the mighty Draconic Knights!" The red knight interrupted.
"Let's go, shall we?" The yellow knight suggested. The Draconic Knights disappeared, leaving to look for the Elemental Six.

"Alright! Good job, Chimpunch!" A young boy shouted as he opened his arms. The monkey Pokemon with large hands jumped into its trainer's arms, hugging the boy. A Funambite laid on the ground near them, unconscious. Hector sat on a high branch in a nearby tree, masked by a dense mass of leaves. He wrote something down in a small white notebook.
"This is useless," He thought, "All I'm seeing is happiness. I have yet to see an angry or sad trainer." Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted something near the far side of the route. A large group of people was walking south from Hanaero Town, heading toward the entrance to Treemor Town, where Hector's perch was located.
"That can't be who I think it is." He reached for a pair of binoculars hung around his neck and lifted them to his eyes. Sure enough, Troy was among the group.
"I understand that we're going to Roccane Town to see Professor Maple, but why are we walking there?" Chris wondered. "It would be a lot faster if we flew."
"We don't have enough flying Pokemon." Mrs. Searle explained.
"We were just in Hanaero Town! The Gym specializes in flying type Pokemon!" Troy exclaimed.
"The Gym was locked, and my brother doesn't keep any of his Pokemon at the Gym anyways," Spencer explained, "That's why we're going to my house in Treemor Town." The group continued to walk through the route, passing the boy with the Chimpunch as they grew closer to Treemor Town. Suddenly, a blast of icy blue light shot out from a large bush to the side of the dirt path. The teachers and Gym Leaders in the front of the group stopped just in time to avoid walking into the beam, and the beam kept going, hitting a tree on the other side of the path.
"What the heck?" Everyone wondered.
"Troy...you just left me there to die!" The bushes began to rustle, and a tall male figure stepped out, a Polarborg by his side.
"Joe?!" Troy was shocked. The boy was covered in scars and bruises, and looked very angry.
"What's this all about?" Mr. Pennington asked.
"As if you don't know," Joe glared at the teacher, "You think you can just waltz in and bail this idiot here out, but just leave the rest of us to rot? I don't think so."
"What's going on?" Chey wondered.
"Obviously, this little punk wants revenge on your friend Troy, for some reason." Paris concluded.
"I had to bail Troy out of jail in order to bring him with us," Mr. Pennington explained, "This must be one of his cronies that was in there with him."
"Both of you are gonna pay for leaving me in there!" Joe shouted. "I'm gonna kill you!"
"You and what army?" Troy taunted.
"As if you don't know." Joe snapped his fingers, and the rest of Troy's posse emerged from various hiding places. Joe threw the rest of his Pokeballs into the air, releasing Magmouse, the orange mouse with a shell of hardened magma; Horrernet, the bee Pokemon with a large black stinger; Triki, the humanoid with leafy hair and a primitive staff weapon; and two new Pokeon. The first, Falspruce, was obviously an evolution of Sudowoodo. It was larger, and was now covered in a bushy coat of leaves from head to knee. Its feet stuck out from beneath the covering, and its arms stuck out a little as well. Its arms still had their green, sphere-like fingers. The Y-shaped growth on top of its head stuck out of the leafy coat, and a square had been cut out of the covering so that its face was visible. The second new Pokemon, Oreon, was a light brown-colored quadruped with dark brown patches on its fur that was obviously an evolution of Eevee. In place of its ears were two red crystals, and a line of red and blue crystals ran down its back. Its medium-length tail was also made of red and blue crystal, and looked kind of like rock candy.
"So you've been training since you got out, huh?" Troy reached for his own Pokeballs. "Well so have I!" Troy's Pokeballs opened to reveal his Melterate, Krabgras, and four newly evolved Pokemon. The first, Possilver, was the evolved form of Coppossum. Its stiff fur was silver, as were its ears and its tail. A small orb containing liquid silver floated around it. The second was Eschlorigo, the evolved form of Snailodium that Jason of the Elite 4 had used. Third was Raburice, the evolved form of Valbit. It was larger and now stood on four feet, and its fur was black and blue instead of yellow. Its tail was a bit longer, as well. The last of the four was Pocus, the evolved form of Hocus. It resembled Kadabra in terms of body structure, but it lacked Kadabra's characteristic long ears and mustache. Like Hocus, it wore gray cloth garments, and had a shorter tail than its counterpart, Kadabra. It wore a small gray pouch on its left hip, and unlike Kadabra, the only marking on its body was a gray symbol on its forehead that resembled the clubs suit of playing cards. Troy's former gang members sent out their Pokemon as well, and the group of teachers, students, and Gym Leaders that Troy now traveled with did the same.
"Attack!" Joe commanded, and the battle ensued. All the Pokemon charged forward and launched their attacks, attempting to bring down the Pokemon of the other team. As the battle raged on, Hector furiously scrambled to write everything that happened down in his notebook.
"This is great!" He spoke under his breath so that he would not be heard. "This is exactly the kind of data I need!" The battle raged on for nearly an hour, and it soon became clear which side was going to win.
"Crap...this is bad." Joe realized. His team's numbers dwindled by the minute, and the other side was losing very few of its Pokemon.
"Everyone, retreat!" He shouted. Many of his teammates' Pokemon knew Smokescreen, and they took advantage of this, using the attack to disappear. By the time their opponents' Pokemon managed to clear the vast amount of smoke, they were already gone.
"Dang, they got away..." Mr. Pennington muttered. As he spoke, several of the young trainers' Pokemon began to glow with the light of evolution. Chey's Eyequus, Corphish, Poishare, and Elekid became Systripe, Crawdaunt, Toxabbit, and Electabuzz respectively. Emily's Ferrini, Natu, and Eevee evolved, becoming Lapras, Xatu, and a new evolution of Eevee; Spireon. It had lavender fur, and its body was semitransparent. Its feet were shrouded in purple gas, and its fluffy-looking tail appeared to be made of the same gas. Its short ears folded down over the sides of its head. Chris's Styclone and Valbit evolved as well. As Styclone became Hurricrash, it grew larger, and all of its rocks became shaped like small lightningbolt symbols. The number of lightningbolts inside its funnel increased, and it now had some outside of the funnel as well. Valbit evolved into Rabuphire, which looked like Raburice, but its fur was red instead of blue and its tail and ears were longer.
"Awesome." Chris commented.
"So what was up with that, anyways?" Emily wondered, referring to the ambush.
"Don't worry about it," Dave decided, "Let's keep going." As the group drew closer to Treemor Town, Hector sent out his Sableye, using its power to make himself invisible. He snuck past the group as they passed the tree he had been sitting in, and when they were far enough away, he became visible once again.
"That's enough data for one day," He said to himself, "I wonder how Geraldo's doing."

"This forest is so thick!" Geraldo exclaimed as his bipedal brown shellfish Pokemon hacked through the dense foliage with its scythe-like appendages. He had done as Michael had instructed and trained his own Pokemon, and his Kabuto, among other Pokemon, had evolved. He had successfully captured all three of the titans that resided in the Hoenn region, and had returned to Olemenun to capture the three that lived there. Kabutops continued to slash through the vines and plants in its way until it finally came to a small clearing. In the center of the clearing was an old granite temple covered in moss. Geraldo walked up the steps in front of the abandoned building, only to discover that there was no way in. It was obvious where the door should have been, but a large slab of rock blocked the entrance.
"I have just the Pokemon to take care of this," Geraldo thought aloud, "Rhinooly! Bastiodon!" The boy threw two Pokeballs into the air. The first opened to reveal Bastiodon, the evolution of Shieldon with a large, square, shield-like head. The second contained Rhinooly, the evolved form of Chewpir. It was much larger, and was now completely covered in thick, woolly, brown hair. It had two large horns on its forehead, the one in front slightly longer than the one in back. The two quadrupedal Pokemon rammed the stone slab forcefully, causing the temple to shake. After a few good rams, the stone crumbled, revealing the entrance. Geraldo and his three Pokemon walked in and walked down a long corridor, eventually making their way to a chamber. There were three long vines hanging from the ceiling on each wall of the chamber, except for the one with the entrance. On that wall, two vines hung on either side of the opening. In the center of the room was a stone tablet, which Geraldo walked over to, only to discover that what was written on it was written in braille. He shuffled through the papers that Michael had given him, looking for the instructions for this temple.
"The entrance is on the south wall," He read, "Light the southern vine on the west wall, the middle vine on the east wall, the eastern vine on the north wall, and the two vines closest to the entrance on the south wall. Sounds simple enough." He threw one of the Pokeballs Michael had given him into the air, releasing Typhlosion, the yellow and black-furred fire Pokemon with a mane of flame. He ordered it to ignite the vines that Michael's instructions had designated, and as soon as the last of the vines was lit, the room began to shake. The flames went out, and the stone tablet in the center of the room sunk into the ground. Moments later, a platform rose from the hole in the ground that had been created, and on the platform stood Geraldo's Target: Regigrass. It had a cylindrical body with a color and texture similar to a tree trunk, and the body flowed into two sturdy legs of similar color and texture. At the top of its body was a fluffy-looking hemisphere of leaves. Two arm-like branches extended from the sides of its body, and they resembled arms in every way, including three 'fingers' on the end of each one. Instead of a face, it had a pattern of seven green dots, arranged like a perfect circle with no dot in the middle.
"Typhlosion, Flamethrower!" Geraldo commanded. The fire Pokemon let loose a powerful blast of fire that scorched the grass-type titan, burning it badly. It let out a loud bellow and extended its arm, grabbing the fire Pokemon and squeezing it. Kabutops leaped into the air, slashing at the branch-like arm and causing the legendary Pokemon to release its grasp on Typhlosion. Bastiodon and Rhinooly ran forward with ramming attacks, but were countered by a wall of vines that entangled them and halted their movement. Typhlosion dashed forward quickly as its body lit up with flame, ramming into Regigrass with a powerful Flame Wheel attack. Meanwhile, Geraldo's fossil Pokemon continued to use their own attacks, and eventually, the titan was brought to its knees.
"Dusk Ball, go!" Geraldo shouted, throwing a green and black-colored ball. The ball opened, and the weakened Pokemon turned into red light and entered the container. The ball wiggled around on the ground a few times but finally stopped, clicking and signalling that the mighty Pokemon had been caught.
"Alright! I caught Regigrass!" Geraldo exclaimed as he picked up the occupied ball. He returned his Pokemon to their own Pokeballs and exited the temple, heading for his next destination.

"Where are you taking me?" Stephen asked his Duskarrion. The bird responded with a caw as it continued to flap its wings, flying across the Ring Sea and into the Inner Ring. It quickly flew to Treemor Town, where it landed on a building with a raised edge so that it and its owner would not be seen.
"Why are we here?" Stephen wondered. Duskarrion lifted its wing, pointing to a group of people walking through the town.
"Is that...?!" Stephen immediately recognized the girl near the back of the group. "Chey!"
"Here we are." Spencer announced as the group approached the magnificent mansion next to the Gym. Spencer took a key from his pocket and unlocked the door, letting everyone inside.
"I just want to say sorry again..." Paris told Chey as they walked up the steps that led to the entrance to the house. Chey stopped and turned to face him.
"It's alright. You've apologized enough."
"I just...I'm really sorry. I truly am."
"Paris...no. Dad. It's okay." Chey opened her arms and embraced her father, hugging him genuinely.
"Are you two coming in?" Spencer asked.
"I'll be right back," Paris responded, "I have to get something from the PokeMart."
"I'll leave the door unlocked." Spencer decided as he walked inside behind Chey.
"Who...who is that boy?!" Stephen hadn't been able to hear Chey call Paris 'dad', so he was quite furious upon seeing the two teenagers hugging. "How dare he...he'll pay!" Stephen jumped from the roof of the single-story building, landing on the road a couple of yards behind Paris. He dashed up to the boy, slamming the black staff into the side of his ribcage. Paris flew across the ground, hitting the side of a nearby building.
"What the...?!" Paris wondered, getting up and reaching for his Pokeballs.
"Just who are you to her?!" Stephen asked as he ran toward Paris in a fit of rage. He stabbed the black staff toward Paris, who barely dodged the attack. Stephen easily pulled the staff out of the hole he had created in the building, and began to slash at Paris again.
"What are you talking about?!" Paris threw six Pokeballs into the air, releasing Honchkrow, Crobat, Ditto, Grounoo, Freezoo, and Bouldoo.
"Die!" Stephen shouted, sending out his other five Pokemon, all of which had evolved, to join Duskarrion. Skorupi had become the large purple monster, Drapion. Misteam had become the steam-shrouded leviathan, Leviathell. Houndour had grown larger and grown two curved horns, becoming Houndoom. Cubone and Ekans, on the other hand, had evolved into new, less common forms. Ekans had grown very long but remained skinny, and did not have the charactaristic cobra patterns of Arbok. Its scales alternated black and yellow, and it bore two large fangs. It had become a Tiark, a rare Pokemon that Ekans could only evolve into if it was bred by a Seviper. Cubone's alternate evolution, Cematriary, had a body structure similar to Marowak, but it was completely covered in bones. The bones formed intricate armor, and its bone helmet was shaped differently than Marowak's. In its hand it held an especially long bone that appeared to be a spinal cord of some sort. Overall, it looked slightly feminine, but looked almost regal compared to Marowak. Stephen's Pokemon charged, attacking Paris's Pokemon with all their might. With just one wave of attacks, Paris's Pokemon were badly wounded.
"Crap, this kid is strong..." Paris realized. Stephen's Pokemon quickly defeated all of Paris's, and Paris backed up, not noticing that he was backing into a corner.
"Now die!" Stephen twirled the black staff above his head and sped toward Paris, swinging the staff out by his side.
"Those eyes..." Paris thought, "You're just like him! Just like...Oof!" Paris fell to his knees as the staff connected with his stomach. He hit the pavement and slipped into unconsciousness. Stephen returned all of his Pokemon except for Duskarrion to their Pokeballs and stood over Paris's body, saying nothing. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the door to the mansion open, so he quickly boarded Duskarrion and flew back onto the roof with the raised edge. Chey came running outside, pushing Brandon's wheelchair.
"Paris? We heard a noise, and..." Brandon stopped mid-sentence when he saw Paris's body lying on the ground. Chey ran over to the body, parking Brandon's wheelchair a few feet away.
"Dad?! Dad!" Chey turned the body over and looked at Paris's face. His forehead was bleeding.
"Help!" Brandon shouted at the top of his lungs. "My friend needs medical attention!" As nurses and Chansey rushed out from the Pokemon Center with a stretcher, tears welled up in Chey's eyes, and she hugged Paris even more forcefully than she had before. Once again, Stephen's distance had prevented him from hearing Chey address the boy as 'dad', but he had seen the scene perfectly.
"No...no!" Stephen shouted, clutching his forehead with the hand that was not holding the black staff. "How could she...NO!" The black staff began to glow with an intense black flame.
"AUGH!" A pillar of darkness ascended from the roof, and in a flash, the boy and his Duskarrion disappeared, unbeknownst to all of the people who were focused on Paris.

"I just got a call from Dan," Bobby hung up his cell phone, "He's going to meet us at the entrance to the Chasm Caves." The group flew south, toward the designated meeting place.
"They're not going to believe what happened to us..." Jeremy commented.
"That would be because he's not going to find out," Came a familiar voice, "Seeing as how dead men tell no tales and all that." All heads turned to see Vampyro floating behind them, fiery shuriken in hand.
"Vampyro?!" Matt exclaimed.
"How are you alive?!" Nosfrostu asked. "I froze you inside Mount Rafalski!"
"Yes, well, I got a tad bored with all of that," Vampyro replied, "Lucky for me, I had made a deal with some of my acquaintances beforehand, and they came and got me out of there. Wasn't that nice of them?"
"Acquaintances? What the heck are you talking about?!" Matt inquired.
"I believe you've met them," Vampyro explained, "Though, I'd hate to be cliche, so I'm not going to do the whole tell-you-before-you-die bit. It might jinx it for me!" He threw the shuriken at Matt, who jumped off of the Staraptor he was riding just in time to dodge the attack. He landed on Elissa's Togekiss's wing and immediately jumped off of it, aiming for Vampyro as he swung his staff out wide. The fiery shuriken flew back to Vampyro just in time, and the vampire easily countered the attack. The two began to exchange blows in midair, neither one of them taking a single hit.
"Forgetting someone?" Nosfrostu threw her snowflake chakrams at Vampyro, who was focused on blocking Matt's attacks.
"Fools." In a flash, Vampyro spun around rapidly, deflecting the chakrams as well as a blow from Matt's staff. Before anyone knew what was going on, the fiery vampire delivered a kick to Matt's abdomen, sending him flying backwards. Staraptor instinctively flew into Matt's path, catching him before he fell to the ground.
"He's fast!" Elissa noticed.
"Which is why it's going to take all of us to bring him down!" Bobby exclaimed as he launched a blast of fire from the tip of his staff. Vampyro raised his arms, and a shield of fire surrounded him, absorbing Bobby's attack. Nosfrostu waved her arms, and a sphere of ice surrounded the ball of fire. Oddly enough, the ice did not melt, despite the intensity of the flames. Nosfrostu concentrated, and the ball of ice grew smaller, as if trying to squash Vampyro within it. Staraptor flung Matt off of its back, giving him the momentum to deliver a powerful blow. As if on cue, Vampyro burst free from the shrinking sphere of ice, but did not have enough time to notice Matt coming towards him. The orange staff slammed into his side, sending him flying away from the group quickly. Elissa and Bobby took advantage of the situation, sending solid lavender hands and blasts of flame from their staves. Vampyro managed to recover from the shock of Matt's attack just in time to disappear, avoiding the married couple's attacks. He reappeared behind them, sending a shuriken flying toward each of them. A shield of ice appeared behind them, blocking the shuriken. Nosfrostu dashed toward Vampyro, slashing with her chakrams. The fiery shuriken quickly returned to their owner's hands, allowing him to block the icy assault. Matt came down on him from behind, attempting to deliver a blow to the top of his skull, but a small shield of flame protected the vampire. Matt somersaulted back onto Staraptor and ordered it to charge forward so that he could attack again.
"Enough of this madness." Vampyro concentrated, and suddenly, a blast of fire exploded from him in all directions, sending all of his assailants backwards. "It's time to get what I've come for."
"What he's come for?" Jeremy wondered.
"Give me the staves." Vampyro extended one of his arms, and the shuriken in his hand disappeared. He motioned his hand in a beckoning matter, as if asking for someone to come close.
"What?!" Everyone was shocked.
"With the staves' power...I can take over the world!" He exclaimed. "Now give me the staves if you don't want to die!" His usual tone, which hinted at sarcasm and playfulness, turned to one of pure evil.
"They will do you no good!" Nosfrostu shouted. Vampyro turned his head to face his icy counterpart. "The staves cannot be used by one such as yourself, Vampyro! This is what I have learned over the years!"
"You lie!" Vampyro responded.
"I speak the truth!" Nosfrostu replied. "Not only are the staves already bound to other people...but even if they weren't, only humans can use their power!"
"No!"
"You've lost your way, Vampyro," Nosfrostu's voice softened, "Killing people in order to lure others...attempting to steal the staves from their rightful owners...thoughts of world domination...you're not the brave and noble vampire I once knew...you're not my brother!"
"Shut up!" Vampyro's entire body crackled with intense fire. "It is you who has lost your way! You have gone soft! Caring for these pitiful humans...when all they do is take! They take from the environment...they use Pokemon as tools...they care about no one but themselves! They must be eradicated so that Pokemon may be free!"
"Listen to yourself!" Nosfrostu pleaded. "You have always disliked humans, but you never killed them before! What happened to you fifteen years ago, Vampyro?!"
"...I saw it..." Vampyro's voice was quieter than before, "True power...the Elemental Pokemon! Seeing them opened my eyes to the dangers of mankind...and how they must be exterminated!" His voice rose again.
"Of course!" Elissa realized. "When the Elemental Pokemon were first created, before they were sealed away, they drove other Pokemon mad! Vampyro must have witnessed our battle fifteen years ago...and it drove him mad, too!"
"Vampyro, you have to come to your senses!" Nosfrostu cried. "Please! For me! For your sister!"
"Shut up! Shut up....shut up!" Vampyro let out a scream of agony and disappeared in a burst of flames. Ash rained from the sky, and the group was quiet.
"We need to find him..." Nosfrostu said.
"Yes, we do. If he stays like this...who knows how much damage he could cause...to himself and others."
"But who were those acquaintances he was talking about?" Matt recalled. "The ones that freed him from the volcano?"
"Good question..." Bobby replied.
"Hey...y'know what I'm wondering about?" Jeremy thought aloud. "The legends say that the Pokemon a long time ago calmed down a while after the Elemental Pokemon left! How long did that take?! How do we calm Vampyro down?!"
"It wasn't a matter of time," Elissa answered solemnly and thoughtfully, "It was...oh no."
"What?" Bobby inquired.
"I can't believe I didn't realize it before..." Elissa sounded very worried, "It all makes sense now..."
"What was it?" Jeremy asked.
"The Pokemon were returned to normal by the power of five legendary Pokemon. Five legendary...dragons."
"You don't mean..." Bobby realized.
"And those dragons' owners were known as...The Draconic Knights."

IMPORTANT NOTE: Okay, so apparently whoever came up with the idea for Valbit, Rabuphire, and Raburice submitted the ideas both for this and for the "Tengu region pokedex" or whatever it's called. I've already finalized the dex as it is for ELOA and have already used the Pokemon, so it can't be changed now, but those three pokemon WILL be omitted from the dex after ELOA. Seriously, that's the last time I'll ever ask anyone else to submit ideas, because when you do, you end up having some of the same pokemon as some other fanwork, which I absolutely cannot stand. Unbelievable.
Note: In the games, Eevee can only evolve into Spireon in the Ghost Plains, but meh. This worked out better for the plot and whatnot.
Note: I just realized that Matt's staff is orange, not brown...so yeah. I fixed that.

Chapter 18

"Are you sure this is where they are?" The blue knight asked. The five knights walked across the foggy fields of the Ghost Plains, barely able to see two feet in front of their faces.
"We placed a tracking device on one of them when they left Team Rocket," The yellow knight replied, "And it was generally agreed upon that they wouldn't be able to find it."
"We're near." The red knight held a small electronic device in front of him. A small screen on the device displayed a radar, and a small yellow dot was placed just above the center of the screen. The knights continued to walk through the dense fog, and soon came to a rock wall.
"Great, a dead end." The blue knight sighed.
"Don't be so sure." The red knight reached behind his back and pulled out a large red and orange broadsword that looked as if it was made of hardened magma. He effortlessly swung the heavy sword at the wall, causing a large portion of it to crumble. Oddly enough, a perfect rectangular area of rocks fell out, showing that that spot on the wall had been used as a door before. The knights walked in and discovered that several lamps hung from the ceiling, lighting the corridor rather nicely. They soon arrived in a large room that contained all the furnishings of a living room - a sofa, several chairs, a television, a table, and even a minifridge. A male figure sat in one of the chairs, facing away from the entrance.
"Why hello there." The white knight smirked. The slightly overweight man with short brown hair turned around, meeting the knight's gaze.
"Oh, crap." The man, who wore a faded green t-shirt and faded green shorts, quickly got up and began to run down another hallway that extended from the room. The knights followed him at a much slower pace, ignoring the television set that remained on. The man hastily opened a door at the other end of the hallway and closed it behind him, disappearing from view. The knights made their way to the same door, and the yellow knight opened it. The knights entered a fully furnished kitchen, complete with microwave, oven, stove, refrigerator, freezer, and even a toaster. Though the man they were chasing was not within sight, there was only one hall, other than the one they had come from, that extended from the kitchen, so the knights walked into it. They finally made their way to a large, dark, empty room that did not appear to have any exits besides the one they had entered through. Suddenly, a loud noise was heard, and they turned around to see that the entrance had been blocked by a large rock.
"Are they serious?" The blue knight wondered. "Do they know who we are?"
"The Draconic Knights!" The red knight automatically responded. "Glad to see you're finally beginning to get enthusiastic about it!"
"I'm not." The blue knight replied as if what the red knight had said was utterly disgusting.
"Do you honestly mean to ambush us?" The white knight called to seemingly no one. "You know what we are capable of, boys. This is quite a foolish move on your part."
"Attack!" Came a battle cry from what sounded like all directions. From the darkness came various Pokemon attacks of different elements.
"Idiots." As the white knight drew her longsword, the blue knight drew an icy blue rapier, the yellow knight drew a sandy brown scimitar, and the black knight drew a pair of sharp knives with dark purple handles. The knights, even those holding weapons with small surface areas, easily deflected all attacks that were coming for them.
"Attack again!" Came a different voice. Once again, a salvo of attacks fired from the darkness, and once again, the knights deflected them with ease.
"Keep attacking until you hit them!" A third voice commanded. The Pokemon, hidden from view, continued to launch wave after wave of attacks, but not a single one managed to connect with its target, and the knights were far from tiring.
"This is pointless." The white knight raised her sword above her head, and it began to glow brightly. In a flash, the room was completely illuminated. The knights were surrounded by a ring of Pokemon, and just outside the ring were six men around the age of thirty, one of which was the man that the knights had chased.
"Oh, crap! You didn't tell us that it was them!" One of the men shouted at the man that the knights had chased.
"I think you know why we're here, boys." The white knight announced.
"Why you're here? Why, whatever could you mean?" One of the men, who was completely bald, replied.
"Didn't you have hair when you left?" The blue knight recalled.
"Yes, and it was the prettiest hair in the world," Omar answered, "But alas, it was destroyed in an encounter with a group of enraged Chimchar. I have cried myself to sleep ever since."
"Great self respect right there." The blue knight sarcastically responded.
"Enough of this useless chatter," The white knight began, "Give us..."
"Give us the white staff!" The red knight interrupted her.
"White staff? I don't know what you're talking about!" Kyle exclaimed.
"Now, now, don't make us do this the hard way." The yellow knight pulled out a Pokeball from within his robes.
"Crap, is that...?!" Twitchy wondered. He was twitching every few seconds, a sign that his condition had not improved since fifteen years ago.
"It is." The yellow knight answered.
"We should give them the staff, dude!" Alex exclaimed.
"No." Ryan replied.
"No? So you'd rather die than hand it over?" The white knight taunted.
"I choose none of the above." Ryan snapped his fingers, and the room began to rumble.
"Haha! He's always got a plan!" Omar exclaimed. Smoke shot out of various vents all over the walls and floor, and rocks began to descend from the ceiling. The Elemental Six and their Pokemon disappeared into the smoke just as the rocks drew close to ground level.
"Amateurs." The Draconic Knights easily cut through all of the boulders that would otherwise hit them.
"Where do you suppose they went?" The yellow knight wondered.
"It doesn't matter," The red knight answered, "They left the staff here, didn't they?"
"Quite foolish of them." The white knight agreed. She swung her sword quickly, and a wave of air shot forth at the wall she was facing. Part of it crumbled, and a secret room was revealed. The knights walked into the small room, which was completely undecorated except for the pedestal in the center of the room. The white staff floated above the pedestal, encased in a glass container filled with some kind of green liquid.
"They probably thought that we'd think they took it with them." The red knight guessed.
"Stand back, that green stuff is acid." The yellow knight approached the container and slashed at it with his scimitar. The glass broke into many pieces, and the liquid began to pour onto the floor. The knight agilely jumped backwards to a safe distance away from the acid, where the other knights stood. He threw the Pokeball that he had been holding in his hand into the air, and it opened to reveal a mere Swalot, rather than Thundrake as Twitchy had guessed. The large purple blob of a Pokemon sluggishly moved across the ground, absorbing the acid as it went. Once the acid had been taken care of, the red knight walked forward and took the white staff from the pedestal.
"Alright, we've got it. So what now?" The blue knight wondered.
"You actually care?" The yellow knight asked half-mockingly.
"No, of course not!" The blue knight replied, flustered.
"Let's go." The white knight said. The knights exited the cave and released several flying Pokemon to take them back to their headquarters in Balankou City.

"Your friend is going to be okay. He just needs to rest." The nurse informed the group of concerned students, teachers, and Gym Leaders. Paris laid in a hospital bed, surrounded by machines that measured his vitals.
"Thank goodness." Chey let out a sigh of relief.
"Some of us should go on ahead to Roccane Town while the rest stay here," Mr. Pennington suggested, impatient as always, "That way we won't lose much time." Mrs. Searle shot him a slightly angry glance.
"No...it's fine," Chey responded, noticing Mrs. Searle's glance, "You guys can go on. Brandon and I will stay here with him."
"I'll stay as well," Dave volunteered, "In case we're ambushed or something."
"Why would you be ambushed?" Mr. Pennington asked skeptically.
"With all that's happened recently, it doesn't exactly seem out of the question to me." Brandon replied.
"We'll stay too." Emily volunteered herself as well as Chris.
"Alright, so it's us three teachers, Rachael, Drake, and Spencer going on to Roccane Town." Mr. Lawson confirmed.
"Right. We'll come back here once we've spoken to Professor Maple." Mrs. Searle added. The group that had decided to leave left, walking outside and releasing the flying-type Pokemon that Spencer had provided.

"She's not here?" Mrs. Searle was surprised.
"I'm afraid not." The lab coat-wearing assistant replied. The group was standing just outside the Roccane Town laboratory, where Professor Elissa Maple worked.
"Where is she?" Rachael inquired.
"She left a week or two ago to help one of her friends over on Skuakko Island," The assistant explained, "Actually, we heard from her yesterday, she said she was somewhere in the Chasm Mountain Range."
"The Chasm Mountain Range? What would she be doing there?" Mrs. Searle wondered.
"Don't know. She didn't say." The assistant answered.
"Well, shoot. What are we going to do now?" Mrs. Searle asked the rest of her group. Mr. Lawson shrugged, then began to look around.
"Nicholas?!" Mr. Lawson was shocked, as he suddenly spotted his former student, one of the boys they had been looking for. Nicholas was walking down the dirt road in the center of Roccane Town, kicking rocks as he went. Mr. Lawson and Rachael quickly ran over to the boy, with the rest of the group close behind.
"Nicholas!" Rachael exclaimed, catching the boy's attention.
"Rachael?" Nicholas was equally surprised to see his friend. "Mr. Lawson?"
"What are you doing here?" Mr. Lawson asked. "Where are the other boys?"
"Why'd you steal the staff?" Mr. Pennington asked bluntly.
"Wh-what?" Nicholas was caught off guard. "I didn't steal the staff! Those other boys kidnapped me!"
"I knew it!" Mr. Lawson was relieved. "I knew you could never do something like that!"
"They kidnapped you?" Mr. Pennington was skeptical.
"Yeah! You guys were there when it happened!" Nicholas replied, speaking more ecstatically than usual. "After we lost the appeal to the board, David took me outside and threatened to kill me! Then these other boys came, and they explained how they were going to steal the staff, and David decided to join them! I tried to run, but they wouldn't let me!"
"How did you get away?" Mr. Lawson was intrigued by Nicholas's story.
"We met up with Michael," Nicholas explained, "And he made David leave because he tried to kill me again. Then, I told Michael that I wanted to leave, and he let me. He even lent me one of his Pokemon to use to protect myself." His tone had calmed back down once the initial shock of seeing the teachers had settled.
"You met up with Michael? Tch." Mr. Pennington spat on the ground.
"Did he or any of the boys talk about training with the staff?" Mrs. Searle inquired.
"Yeah," Nicholas answered, "The kid with the Nightture...Stephen, I think his name was."
"Uh-oh." Mr. Pennington showed his concern through anger.
"This isn't good," Mrs. Searle immediately whipped out her cell phone, "I need to inform Procter." She dialed the principal's number into the device and raised it to her ear.
"Hello? Mr. Procter?" Mrs. Searle began to talk into the phone. "Mr. Procter, we have a problem. The boy with the Nightture is training under Michael... Yes, he's using the black staff... I know. We need to stop him... Balankou City? Sure... Alright, we'll see you there." She hung up the cell phone.
"So?" Mr. Pennington was eager to hear what Procter had said.
"We're going to meet them in Balankou City." Mrs. Searle informed him.
"We should go back to Hanaero Town and get the others first." Spencer suggested.
"Yeah, but if Paris is still resting, they won't want to leave him." Mr. Lawson responded.
"Well, we should inform them of the situation anyways." Mrs. Searle decided.
"Alright, let's go." Mr. Pennington agreed.

Cloaked in black flames, Stephen appeared just outside of Michael's mansion, Duskarrion by his side.
"Auugh!" He clutched his forehead in pain as he stumbled toward the door, paying no attention to the rubble and debris left by Michael's fight with Dan and Tatiana nor the large hole in the upper floor of the building. He entered the open doorway and looked around as he entered the foyer.
"Where are you...?" He wondered. He walked up the stairs and finally noticed that most of it had been destroyed by Dan's makeshift wrecking ball. As he approached the center of the house, he noticed debris falling from above. He looked up to see the gaping hole in the roof that had been covered by a sheet of ice. In the center of the ice, something was visible, but it could not be distinguished from where Stephen stood.
"What the heck?" Duskarrion carried Stephen up to just below the ice. The teenager deftly smashed the ice with his staff, causing it to shatter into millions of pieces. Michael, still wrapped in a coat of vines, began to fall, but Stephen instinctively swung his staff, causing a large mass of dark energy shaped like a hand to shoot out from its tip. The hand caught Michael, and smaller hands shot out from its fingertips, unwrapping the man and flicking away any leftover shards of ice. Duskarrion carried Stephen back down to the floor, and the boy gently placed Michael on the torn-up carpet.
"What the..." Michael rubbed his head as he sat up, looking around, "Stephen?"
"Hello." Stephen muttered.
"Where did they..." Michael looked around, seeing the vines and shards of ice scattered around him, "Tch."
"What happened?" Stephen asked with some difficulty as he tried to shake his daze from earlier.
"Two of my old... 'friends'... attacked me. Looks like they won." Michael stood up and continued to look at the destruction that the battle had caused. He quickly noticed a dark aura surrounding Stephen. "You... managed to get the staff to activate?"
"... Yeah."
"How?"
"I'd rather not talk about it." Stephen turned away from Michael, facing the staircase.
"I understand." Michael responded. After a short pause, he spoke again. "Now that the staff has activated... would you like to..."
"Yes," Stephen agreed, "Let's continue my training." He turned back to face Michael, and it was clear that they were thinking the same thing; that they would have a mock-battle right where they were. The gray staff began to crackle with electricity, and the dark aura surrounding Stephen and the black staff intensified.
"Come on!" Michael exclaimed. The two men dashed forward, preparing to strike each other with their staves.

"Just two more to go." Geraldo wandered through the dusty desert surrounding Sparkiban City, constantly checking the map to ensure that he was going the right direction. Suddenly, the dust storms faded away, as if had entered some kind of protected oasis. He turned around, and sure enough, the storms continued to rage on behind him, but seemed to be kept back by some kind of invisible forcefield. The boy turned back toward the center of the storm proof area to discover an ancient stone temple, much like the one in the Darkomu Forest. It was heavily eroded by sand, and only stumps remained where it looked like grand pillars probably stood at one point. Unlike the temple in the forest, this temple's entrance was unguarded by a rock, so Geraldo walked in. The moment he walked in, a stone slab descended behind him, blocking the exit.
"How original." Geraldo said sarcastically. Prior to his encounter with Hector, Geraldo had never been one to use verbal techniques such as sarcasm; obviously the college student had rubbed off on the boy. He began to walk down the narrow hallway that led away from the blocked entrance, but he soon felt that something wasn't right. He turned, and sure enough, a large boulder was rolling toward him.
"Bastiodon!" He released the shield-faced dinosaur from its Pokeball, just in time for it to quickly assess the situation. It stood in front of its trainer and braced itself, awaiting the oncoming rock. As the rock crashed into its large square head, it stood its ground, refusing to budge an inch. With an incredible burst of strength it charged forward, flinging the rock several feet into the air. When the boulder descended back toward the ground, it headbutted the large rock, smashing it and breaking it into several pieces.
"Good job, Bastiodon!" Geraldo congratulated his Pokemon. The trainer and Pokemon continued to walk down the hallway, eventually coming to a place where large slabs of moving rock extended from the walls, slammed into each other, and retracted back into their slots in the sides of the hall.
"This looks like a job for... Kabutops! Armaldo! I choose you!" The two bipedal fossil Pokemon emerged from their Pokeballs and analyzed the situation, immediately understanding what they were to do. When the walls retracted into their holes, they stepped into the space between the walls, each facing one of the holes. When the walls came slamming back towards the center, they grabbed on to them and pushed outward, trying to stop the walls from moving. The powerful Pokemon succeeded in their task, and the walls stopped moving. Geraldo and Bastiodon walked through, and Kabutops and Armaldo followed them as they proceeded down the hallway. Geraldo finally reached his destination; a small room with a stone tablet in the center of it.
"Let's see... 'Surround the tablet with six ground-type Pokemon'... Well, this one's easy." He threw five of the Pokeballs Michael had given him into the air, revealing Mamoswine, Sandspike, Quagsire, Claydol, and Hippowdon. Geraldo's Rhinooly joined Michael's ground Pokemon after being released from its own Pokeball, and they formed a circle around the stone tablet. The room began to shake, and the tablet descended into the ground. Just as Regigrass had ascended from the hole in the forest temple, the fifth titan now rose from the ground. Its body was large and bulky, and its shape was somewhere between Regirock and Registeel. At the top of its body, two mountain-shaped growths stuck up next to each other, one larger than the other. Its body was a soily dark brown, and the tips of the mountainous growths were white, as if to simulate high-altitude snowy mountaintops. It had thick legs shaped like funnels with the wide end on the ground and soily arms shaped similar to Regirock's. In the center of where its face would be, there were seven purple dots, arranged in a two by three rectangle with one dot on top.
"Everyone, attack!" Geraldo commanded. The six ground-types were already at an advantage, as they had the titan surrounded. Each of them launched various attacks, and made quite an impact on the ground-type titan.
"Quake!" It cried. It lifted one of its legs and slammed the ground, causing a large earthquake to ripple outwards and knock all of the surrounding Pokemon off of their feet, except for Claydol, who hovered in the air. It shot one of its arms out at the unsuspecting Claydol, catching it off guard and knocking it against a wall. Bastiodon, Kabutops, and Armaldo rushed forward, joining the fray with physical attacks of their own. The ground titan proved to be more of a challenge than the grass titan had been, but eventually, Geraldo's Pokemon triumphed. The boy threw a dusk ball, which wiggled a few times then clicked, signaling that the titan had been caught.
"Alright! I caught Regiquake!" Geraldo exclaimed as he picked up the ball.
"Impressive." Came a familiar voice along with the sound of clapping. Geraldo turned to see David standing in the entrance to Regiquake's chamber.
"You!" Geraldo shouted. "What do you want?!"
"Two more titans to go, am I right?"
"Why's that any of your business?" Geraldo wondered.
"You're going to help me," David replied, "Once you catch the last titan, you're going to use them to move some things for me."
"Move some things? What are you talking about?" Geraldo was very confused.
"I'll explain later," David answered, "For now, let's go catch those last titans."
"I'm going to go catch them, but you're not coming with me!" Geraldo exclaimed.
"Fool." David sighed. In a flash, he appeared behind Geraldo and lifted his sword to the boy's throat.
"How did you...?!"
"Don't worry about it. Now let's go, shall we?"
"Crap..." Geraldo knew that if he ordered any of his Pokemon to attack, he'd be killed in an instant. He returned the Pokemon to their Pokeballs and followed David out of the temple, boarding his Aerodactyl once they exited.
"I'll find a way out of this..." He thought, "That's what Hector would do. He'd find a way to give this guy the slip, or he'd just have his Pokemon kill him. Yeah...that's what I'll do."
"I can hear you, you know." David interrupted the boy's chain of thought. He pointed to his Gallade, who was standing just outside the temple. "Gallade may gain a fighting type upon evolution, but it can still read minds and send telepathic messages just fine."
"That's not good." Geraldo thought aloud. David sent out a Scizor, which had obviously evolved from his Scyther, and returned Gallade to its Pokeball. The two flying Pokemon took off, heading for the Ghost Plains, where the sixth titan rested.

"What took you guys so long?" Dan asked. His group was already waiting at the southern entrance to the Chasm Mountains when Bobby's group arrived.
"Vampyro ambushed us." Bobby explained.
"Vampyro?" Tatiana wondered.
"The vampire from Skuakko Island," Bobby replied, "He appeared out of the blue and tried to take our staves."
"Why would he do that?" Procter asked.
"He saw the fight with the Elemental Pokemon fifteen years ago, and it messed up his brain, or something." Jeremy answered.
"He wants to use the Elemental Pokemon's powers to get rid of all the humans in the world." Elissa added.
"That sounds kinda serious," Sebastian commented, "Shouldn't you be focusing on stopping him?"
"He's somehow tied to the Draconic Knights," Bobby responded, "So we might be able to get some answers from them."
"Alright then, let's go." Dan decided. The group took off, heading for Balankou City.

Chapter 19

The group of students, teachers, and Gym Leaders arrived in Hanaero Town, landing their flying Pokemon outside the hospital.
"We'll be right back out." Mrs. Searle informed the rest of the group that had gone to Hanaero Town. The three teachers entered the tall building and were surprised to see Chey, Emily, Chris, Paris, Brandon, and Dave already in the lobby.
"So what's up?" Dave asked.
"Professor Maple wasn't there," Mrs. Searle replied, "But I called Procter, and he told us to meet him in Balankou City."
"And we have a new addition to our team," Mr. Lawson added, "My student Nicholas found us in Roccane Town."
"Wasn't he one of the staff thieves?" Emily recalled.
"Hardly!" Mr. Lawson exclaimed as if greatly offended. "He was kidnapped by those hooligans!"
"We don't have time to stay here and chat," Mr. Pennington interrupted, "For all we know, the black staff could have already activated."
"Right," Mrs. Searle agreed, "Are you coming with us?"
"Spencer has decided to stay here, but the rest of us will go with you." Brandon answered. With that, the group headed out of the hospital and met up with the others outside.
"Let's go." Chey said as the trainers released their flying Pokemon.

David and Geraldo landed in the middle of the Ghost Plains, near several large rock formations. They had already been wandering the plains for some time, and David had caught a Serafimask a while back.
"So, what's that map say?" He asked. Geraldo did not answer. "Fine. Be that way." He reached for a Pokeball on his belt and threw it into the air, releasing his Gallade. The Pokemon began to glow with a faint purple light, and Geraldo's map did the same. The map was lifted from Geraldo's hands and landed in David's.
"Ten ghost Pokemon need to be knocked out by a ghost Pokemon for the temple to appear? Is that all?" David looked around, and quickly spotted a group of Gastly floating nearby. "There must be at least ten there... Time to see if this thing was worth my time." He threw a Pokeball into the air, releasing the blue and white angellic Pokemon. It outstretched its arm, and a sword made of light appeared in its hand. It dashed forward, wasting no time as it slashed at one of the Gastly, knocking it out in a single hit. The other Gastly began to crowd around it, but it knocked them out as easily as it had done in the first. In a matter of seconds, the Gastly had all disappeared, afraid of being damaged further.
"There. That's done. Now where's the temple?" David looked around. Suddenly, the thick fog of the Ghost Plains began to disappear, and an ancient stone temple became visible between two large rock formations. "Bingo. Now then... looks like that's all we have to do. Our prize should be waiting for us in the temple." He began to walk towards the temple, but soon realized that Geraldo was not following him. The freshman's Aerodactyl was several feet off of the ground, and was flapping its wings lightly as to not make any noise.
"Nice try, kid." David threw a Pokeball into the air, releasing a Pokemon that was obviously the evolved form of Farfetch'd. It had grown to be nearly six feet tall, and consequently had a rather large wingspan. Its feathers that had been dark brown were now a brownish red, and its beak was colored green rather than yellow. In each of its wings, it held thick leeks that had been carved into swords. The V-shape on its head had grown larger as well.
"Believenge, stop him." David commanded. The Farfetch'd evolution flew forward, quickly catching up to an unsuspecting Geraldo. It slashed at Aerodactyl's wings with its leek swords, causing the pterodactyl Pokemon to fall to the ground. It then swooped over to Geraldo and picked the boy up in its large, almost claw-like feet. It carried Geraldo into the temple, following David. After a short walk down the hall, the two trainers, Gallade, Believenge, Serafimask, and Scizor entered the temple's main room. Sure enough, in the center of the room was the sixth legendary titan: Regiside. Its body was perhaps the most humanoid of the titans, but still looked inhuman. Like with the other titans, there was no real seperation of head from body. It was a ghastly shade of lavender, and fog flowed from the top of its body like hair. Where its face would be, there were seven blue dots, arranged in an X, with the two sections of the top half being two dots long while the sections of the bottom half were only one dot long.
"You're no challenge for me," David said, "Meerklaw, Venampute, attack!" He threw his final two Pokeballs into the air, releasing two Pokemon that were obviously the evolved forms of Zangoose and Seviper respectively. Meerklaw had grown bigger and fiercer, and the red patterns on its body and face had grown in size and changed shape. Its claws were now incredibly long, even longer than its arms. Venampute had also grown longer and larger, and its patterns and markings had grown and changed shape as well. Its fangs and the blade on its tail had grown larger in comparison to its body, too.
"Take it down." The two Pokemon dashed forward with blinding speed, slashing at the titan with their sharp body parts and doing major damage to it before it even knew what hit it. It retaliated with a Shadow Punch aimed at Venampute, but Meerklaw jumped in the way, and the ghost-type attack did nothing to the normal-type.
"I thought Zangoose and Seviper hated eachother!" Geraldo commented, surprised by the Pokemon's team work.
"They do," David replied, "But under the command of a strong trainer, even mortal enemies will work together." As they spoke, Regiside fell to the ground, defeated. Before Geraldo could throw a Dusk Ball, David whipped out one of his own and quickly captured the fallen titan.
"Now then... One left." He smirked as he began to walk out of the temple, his Pokemon making sure that Geraldo followed him.

The group of students, teachers, and Gym Leaders arrived in Balankou City, landing their flying Pokemon just outside of Team Rocket's headquarters. Sebastian was leaning against the side of the building, as he had been awaiting their arrival.
"They're already inside, talking to the receptionist," Sebastian explained, "We just got here five minutes ago." He walked into the magnificent building, the large group of people following him.
"Listen, we need to go upstairs!" Dan shouted in the receptionist's face. It was a different person than the last time that the group had been to Team Rocket Headquarters; this time it was a young woman in a pink dress. Unlike the previous receptionist, this woman would not budge, even when Dan threatened her with his staff.
"Dan, that's no way to ask! You have to be nice!" Tatiana exclaimed, trying to calm her husband down. As they fought in the background, Bobby walked up to the counter where the woman sat.
"Listen. My friend here was a little rude about saying it, but he's right. Five of us wield the legendary staves that summoned the Elemental Pokemon... and we really need to talk to the Draconic Knights."
"I told your friend, unless you have a meeting, you're not going anywhere." The receptionist countered.
"Look," Bobby leaned in closer, "This is a matter of national security. If we don't speak to them, all of Olemenun could be in danger."
"Then you can tell me, and I'll give them the message." The woman replied. By now, her hand was under the counter, her finger hovering just over the small red button that would alert security.
"You guys are idiots." Dave walked up to the counter, pushing Bobby aside. "Hey... I'm afraid these guys were just trying to be a little dramatic."
Meanwhile, while Dave spoke to the receptionist, the staff wielders recognized a member of the group that had just entered the building.
"Paris?!" Bobby wondered.
"Yo." Paris replied with a small chuckle.
"What are you doing here?! You're supposed to be dead!" Dan exclaimed.
"And our enemy!" Matt added.
"Nope, he's on our side now." Mrs. Searle replied.
"That doesn't explain how he's alive!" Dan responded.
"That'd be my doing," Brandon answered, "After all these years, I finally figured out a way to bring him back, even though... he... had destroyed the body. That's why he still looks like he's fifteen."
"But... he... this doesn't make any sense." Matt shook his head and turned back around, not in the mood to try and make sense of the situation.
"Let's just let it go," Paris suggested, "I'm on your team now, and any of these guys can vouch for that." Several teachers and students nodded their heads.
"... Fine." Bobby accepted it.
"You see, we're really here to pick up some new shipments of badges." Dave was still talking to the receptionist.
"... All of you?" The receptionist asked skeptically, looking at the vast crowd of people in the lobby.
"Yeah, there's a lot of badges," Sean replied, "Every Gym except the one in Poisawa Town ordered some." After a short pause brought on by great skepticism, the receptionist finally caved in.
"Alright," She sighed, "Floor thirty-six."
"Thank you!" Dave exclaimed. The large group of people crowded into all four of the building's elevators, and the doors closed. The receptionist looked to a computer screen on her desk - the elevators had not stopped moving at floor thirty-six.
"Security!" She cried into a walkie-talkie that she had pulled out from her pocket. "Get to floor eighty-seven, now! Some intruders are going after the Knights!"

The elevator doors opened, and the group entered the unnecessarily long hallway that was familiar to only some of them. As soon as they stepped out of the elevators, though, an alarm began to sound above their heads.
"Crap." Bobby commented.
"Let's go!" Dan shouted. The group rushed down the hallway, and just like before, thick concrete walls began to crash down from above.
"Not again!" Tatiana exclaimed. The staff wielders and Nosfrostu quickly began destroying the walls in front of them, allowing the group to continue their sprint toward the Knights' room. They finally made it to the end of the hallway, and Bobby held the door open, motioning for the rest of the trainers to hurry in. Once they were all in, he too entered the small white room, closing the door behind him.
"Not this room again...how are we going to get that Gengar if all these people are in here?!" Dan was frustrated.
"Well, it can't be anywhere that people are, and pretty much the whole floor is covered with people," Tatiana realized, "So..." She aimed her staff upwards, and many small shards of ice shot out of it. The ice shards began zooming around above the trainers' heads, seeking out their target. Soon, one of them connected, and the Gengar appeared, then disappeared. The empty room faded away, revealing the real chamber of the Draconic Knights.
"Ah! Mr. Richard, Mrs. Richard, how nice to see you again!" The red knight exclaimed as if he had been expecting them. "And you've brought along several of the other staff wielders, too! What a pleasant surprise!"
"Cut the crap!" Dan shouted. "What the heck did you do to Michael?! How the heck are you tied to Vampyro?! And who the heck are you, anyways?!"
"We did nothing to Sir Michael." The yellow knight chose to answer the first question.
"Yes you did!" Dan responded. "He went all crazy and tried to attack us!"
"Was he not always like that?" The yellow knight asked. "If I recall correctly, even fifteen years ago, he had quite a deal of disrespect for you." Dan was speechless.
"Yeah, but he never attacked us after the encounter with the Elemental Pokemon! He even helped us on several occasions!" Tatiana replied.
"Maybe being alone with that Duskarrion for several years did something to his brain." The blue knight suggested. Dan snarled, but decided to let the question go, as the blue knight's explanation did make sense.
"Well what about Vampyro?! Bobby said that you guys had something to do with him!"
"If you're talking about how he was freed from Mount Rafalski, then yes," The white knight answered, "That was our doing. But any reckless behavior on his part is his choice... and we want nothing to do with it."
"What the heck are you talking about?! Why did you even free him from the mountain?!" Matt asked.
"We made a bargain with him," The white knight replied, "In exchange for his life, he gave us something we needed."
"What? What did he give you?!" Matt demanded.
"The white staff!" Chey exclaimed, pointing above the white knight's chair. The white staff was glowing brightly, and was floating several feet above the knight's chair.
"What the...?!" The white knight was greatly surprised by this. The staff quickly flew towards Chey, and she instinctively reached up, grabbing it.
"So...there was a descendant, after all," The white knight realized as she turned to Chey, "That just makes our job easier." She stood up and drew her sword, preparing for battle. The other knights followed suit, drawing their own weapons.
"Wait!" Elissa shouted. "Why are you fighting us?! Aren't the Draconic Knights supposed to be good guys?!"
"What are you talking about, girl?" The red knight asked.
"When Nitroneutra was first summoned, long ago!" Elissa replied. "The Pokemon went wild! But they were eventually calmed down by the power of five dragons... and those dragons' owners were the original Draconic Knights!"
"Foolish girl..." The red knight responded, "... We are the 'good guys'!" The white knight dashed forward, slashing at Elissa with her sword. A wall of flames sprung up in front of the defenseless Elissa, blocking the white knight's attack.
"All of you that don't have a weapon, get out of here!" Bobby shouted. Everyone except for the staff wielders and Nosfrostu exited the room, not wanting to get caught up in the battle.
"Chey, get out of here!" Tatiana exclaimed, noticing that the girl holding the white staff had not left the room.
"No!" Chey responded. "I have a staff! I can fight, too!"
"Chey, you don't know how to..." Dan was interrupted by a swing of the red knight's sword. The wielder of the green staff managed to block the attack with a wall of vines just in time, but he soon realized that that defense wouldn't work against this opponent. The broadsword began to glow brightly, and fire cloaked it. The fiery sword easily slashed through the wall of vines, and its wielder began to attack Dan again. Tatiana defended her husband with a high-pressured blast of water, sending the red knight flying across the room. The yellow knight jumped into the air and descended upon Tatiana, his scimitar over his head. Nosfrostu leaped into the air and blocked the attack with her snowflake chakrams, hurling the yellow knight into a wall. Matt followed up, dashing towards the wall and slamming the orange staff into the knight's abdomen.
"Fools!" The white knight ran towards Nosfrostu, but a horizontal pillar of flame slammed into her side, sending her towards a wall. Bobby and Elissa ran after her, launching attacks from their staves. The blue knight had, as always, decided to sit the battle out, and began to work on her nails with a nail file. The black knight, on the other hand, turned his head slightly in each direction and noticed that Chey was the only other unoccupied person in the room. He began to run towards the unexperienced staff wielder, holding his daggers out by his sides.
"Chey!" Tatiana exclaimed, noticing the situation out of the corner of her eye.
Shing!
The black knight's daggers were stuck in what appeared to be a wall of pure light. The knight let go of his daggers to shield his eyes from the bright light, even though his face couldn't be seen by anyone else. The daggers sunk into the light, and when the wall disappeared, so did they. The knight lowered his arms and began to look around for his daggers.
"Where?" He wondered.
"... Woah." Chey looked at the white staff, which was pulsating with energy. Everyone else in the room had stopped fighting, as they were all equally surprised by what had happened.
"Even though she just got it, the girl was able to do that... It looks like the white and black staves are the most powerful, after all." The white knight commented. With her opponents still shocked, she took advantage of the oppurunity and dashed forward, slashing at Elissa. Elissa barely managed to guard herself with her staff, and was sent flying across the floor.
"Elissa!" Bobby exclaimed, running over to his wife. The others had begun to fight once again as well, and the knights appeared to be backing the staff wielders and Nosfrostu into the center of the room, where Chey and the black knight stood. The black knight had wasted no time after his daggers had disappeared, and had already pulled a Pokeball out from his cloak.
"No! If that's his dragon, we can't let him send it out!" Tatiana shouted to Chey while continuing to fend off the red knight's attacks.
"Right!" Chey instinctively jabbed the white staff forward, attempting to knock the Pokeball out of the knight's hand, but she was too slow, and he threw the Pokeball high into the air.
"Yah!" While Bobby distracted the white knight, Elissa managed to send a lavender hand flying towards the center of the room. It caught the Pokeball, preventing it from opening. The hand then retracted back into the purple staff, and Elissa took the Pokeball in her free hand.
"Fool." The black knight said. Suddenly, the Pokeball exploded in Elissa's hand.
"Ahh!" Elissa screamed in pain as she fell to the floor, greatly wounded by the blast.
"Elissa!" Bobby quickly swung the red staff, landing a powerful blow and sending the white knight several meters away from them. He then dropped to his knees, catching Elissa before her head hit the ground.
"What the heck was that?!" Dan wondered, having seen the incident out of the corner of his eye.
"It was a trap!" Tatiana realized. Chey swung her staff at the black knight, and a bright blast of light sent him backwards quite a ways. The teenage girl then rushed over to where Elissa and Bobby sat.
"Stand back!" Chey exclaimed. She held the staff above her head and closed her eyes. An orb of light formed at the tip of the staff, and slowly floated to Elissa's hand. The orb exploded in a burst of light, and when the brightness faded, the hand was completely healed.
"How did you...?" Bobby was interrupted as the white knight descended upon him, swinging her longsword. Several blocks of ice came flying through the air, slamming into the knight and changing her trajectory, causing her to hit the ground near Bobby. He turned to see the Red knight pinned against the wall by vines, his sword stuck in the ground several feet away. The yellow knight, too, had been incapacitated; he was completely frozen to the wall. With the blue knight uninterested in joining the fight, only the black and white knights remained.
"Tch..." The white knight muttered, "Fine. It's time to end this. Auroryu!" She thrusted her sword into the air, and a bright light filled the room. When the light died down, all five knights sat in their chairs, and the vines and ice that had pinned the red and yellow knights had disappeared. Flying atop the white knight's chair was an immaculate white dragon, whose scales shimmered magnificently in the light. It was much more eastern in appearance than the other four dragons, and it had two shining rainbow wings shaped somewhat similar to a Flygon's. The only spike on its body was a shining rainbow horn on its head, somewhat resemblant of a unicorn's. It roared a mighty roar, and the room began to shake. The room was filled with light once again.

When the light faded, the staff wielders and Nosfrostu were in the narrow hallway, behind the other members of their group. The hallway, however, had now become a dead end: even the small white room was nowhere to be found. It appeared as though the weaponless members of the group had just finished a battle with security and had won, as the security force was running back towards the elevators. There was a huge hole in one of the walls, and a slight breeze flowed in from outside.
"What happened?" Mrs. Searle asked upon seeing the seven appear behind them.
"I'm... I'm not really sure," Elissa clutched her forehead, "What did she do? Where did the room go?!"
"She must've cast some kind of illusion or something..." Bobby guessed.
"I'm quite perturbed by something that the red one said..." Nosfrostu thought aloud, "He said that they were the 'good guys'... What could he have meant?"
"Good guys my butt," Dan responded, "They sent Michael off to become a crazy person without telling anyone, they helped Vampyro out of the volcano, and they attacked us! They're sure as heck not 'good guys'."
"Perhaps our next destination should be Michael's house." Procter suggested.
"We were just there!" Sebastian exclaimed. "He almost killed us, and Dan almost killed him!"
"Yes, but now we have confirmation that he's training one of the kids with the black staff."
"He is?!" This was the first Bobby had heard of the news.
"Yes," Nicholas replied, "I was there. He said he was going to train that Stephen kid."
"Is that the one with the Duskarrion?" Bobby asked.
"Yeah." Mrs. Searle replied.
"Then we need to warn Michael," Elissa decided, "If the black staff activates, then the Elemental Pokemon will become summonable."
"Perhaps some of us should make sure that the altars stay protected," Procter suggested, "In case the black staff does, in fact, activate."
"That's a good idea." Matt agreed, "Nosfrostu and I will go to Zen Island, where the black and white altars are."
"Elissa and I will go to Michael's house, to warn him." Bobby added.
"And the rest of us will protect the other six altars," Paris decided, "And while we're there, I'll teach Chey how to use the white staff."
"You know how?" Bobby asked, surprised because he hadn't yet been told of Chey's relation to Paris.
"Of course," Paris replied, "After all, it was my staff before it was hers."
"Your staff?" Tatiana was confused.
"We have a ways to fly before we split up to go to our various destinations," Paris replied, "I'll explain it on the way."
"Ooh... um... actually, could you guys excuse me and Dan?" Tatiana looked like she had just remembered something. "I need to... talk to him... we'll catch up with you guys later, and you can fill us in then."
"... Sure." Elissa agreed. The majority of the group let out their flying Pokemon and flew out of the gaping hole in the wall.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" Dan asked once everyone else had left.
"... Follow me." Tatiana released her Meteoclips and boarded it as it floated out the hole in the wall. Dan followed on his Skarlord, and the two began to fly north towards a destination unknown to Dan.

"So, what does he think you're doing?" The white knight asked.
"Field training." The youth standing in the knights' chamber replied with a chuckle.
"So, how did you know to come here?"
"How else?" The youth raised his shoulder, displaying the Duskarrion perched upon it. "Same way I knew to come here the first time."
"So, the black staff has activated?"
"What do you think?" Stephen raised the staff by his side, and it began to glow with a dark aura.
"Excellent. Now we merely need to wait for our side's knights to deliver the altars."
"So, you still haven't told me what you plan to do," Stephen commented, "If you summon the eight Elementals, won't they just summon Nitroneutra?"
"Ah...so Sir Michael did tell you about Nitroneutra," The white knight sat back in her chair as a coy smile grew on her face, "But did he tell you what will happen when Nitroneutra is summoned for the third time?"
"What?" Stephen wondered.
"All I'll tell you for now... is that we're actually counting on Nitroneutra being summoned. But it must be summoned on our terms..."
"So let me guess," Stephen interrupted, "You don't want Michael interfering."
"Correct." The white knight confirmed.
"You know, you guys had better hold up your side of the bargain. You're telling me to incapacitate the man who trained me, and who is probably the person I can relate to best in the world. I should kick your butts right here and now." The white knight laughed.
"Enough jokes," She said, "You know that your prize will be well worth the trouble."
"I don't know what the heck convinced me to do this crap." Stephen was obviously pretty angry, but he left the room without another word.
"I do." The black knight said once he had left. He began to let out an evil laugh, and his eyes connected with Stephen's Duskarrion as it left the room behind its master.
"That's it." The red knight stood up after Stephen and his Duskarrion had completely left the building. "I demand to know what you two have been plotting."
"Why, what are you talking about?" The white knight asked innocently.
"Going behind my back, making deals with the other pieces... You're overstepping your boundaries. What are you up to?!"
"So, you're not as dumb as you act." The white knight stood up, and the black knight joined her shortly after.
"You want to overthrow me? Is that it?"
"Well, you're actually quite smart!" The white knight drew her sword. The yellow knight stood up to defend the red, but as always, the blue knight just sat back and watched.
"Let's see you try." The red knight pulled out his own sword and motioned with his other hand, taunting the white knight. "Come on!"

Note: Since it's a tad obscure, I shall explain Believenge's name origin. Farfetch'd is based on a legend where a duck goes to get a leek for a human. The human then cooks the duck along with the leek it just got. Believenge comes from Believe (To go along with the name origin of "Farfetched") and Vengeance, as in, now that it has evolved, it can get vengeance on that human. =P.
Note: On a similar topic, Regiside's name is an amazing pun. Can anyone (other than Crimson Curse, who figured it out before the chapter went up) figure it out?
Note: Mmk, I'm not really sure what those little metal things that girls use on their nails are called, but I think they're called nail files, right?
Note: In case you didn't pick up on it, the white knight basically said that Geraldo and David are the white side's knights in the chess game, though you already knew about David. Wow, that sentence was kinda ironic.

Chapter 20

The red and white knights faced each other, standing on opposite sides of the room with their weapons drawn. By the red knight's side was the yellow knight, and next to the white knight was the black knight. As expected, the blue knight remained in her chair, uninterested in the battle.
"You want to overthrow me? Is that it?" The red knight asked.
"Well, you're actually quite smart!" The white knight taunted.
"Let's see you try." The red knight dashed forward, swinging his broadsword wide. The white knight easily met the red's swing with her shining white longsword, and the two blades remained locked in combat for some time.
"First, I'd just like to make one thing clear," The white knight said as she flicked the red away, "No dragons."
"That's fine by me," The red knight replied, "You're putting yourself at a disadvantage! Your partner doesn't even have a weapon!"
"Doesn't he?" By the time the red knight looked over, the black knight held a long black scythe with an incredibly large and sharp blade in his hand.
"Where did that come from?" The red knight wondered. The black knight dashed forward, slashing with his scythe. The red-robed man jumped into the air, avoiding the scythe's blade. Suddenly, another blade popped out of the other side of the scythe, and the black knight began to whirl around in the opposite direction. Just in time to avoid the red knight's decapitation, the yellow appeared in front of his ally, blocking the scythe with his sandy brown scimitar.
"Try to be a little more careful." The yellow knight said critically as he flicked the black knight away. The white knight had wasted no time, and was already closing in on the red and the yellow. As the blazing red broadsword blocked the white knight's attack, the yellow barely dodged a slash from the black knight's scythe.
"Would it kill you to choose a side?" The red knight shouted, directing his question at the blue knight. "Preferably ours, because it is the right one!" He pushed the white knight away and charged at her, only to miss with his slow weapon.
"No thanks." The blue knight replied as she continued to work on her nails.
"What do you possibly hope to accomplish by defeating us?!" The red knight asked the white. "Do you wish to control Team Rocket? To convert them back to the side of evil?"
"Team Rocket?" The white knight cackled. "Come on. You know they're just pawns in this... you know what I'm really after."
"... The balance." The red knight was fully aware of what the white wanted. As they continued to clash, the yellow knight's scimitar fell to the ground, and he was backed into a corner by the black.
"Exactly," The white knight confirmed the red's suspicion, "If you merely use them to restore balance to this world... you're not using them to their full potential. Their power, if used correctly, is infinite."
"Maintaining the balance is using their power correctly!" The red knight responded. "You're just suffering from delusions of grandeur!"
"And you're not? 'Oh, look at me, I am the all powerful leader of the mighty Draconic Knights! I shall defeat all who oppose me!' ... Please. You are weak." A quick maneuver knocked the broadsword from the red knight's hand, and it landed on the floor, making quite a clatter. Both the yellow and the red knights were now defenseless.
"You know, it's too late for this fool," The white knight called over her shoulder to the yellow, "But you can still join us."
"I'd rather stay on the winning side of this game," The yellow knight answered, "Even though all sides were abandoned long ago. Life isn't black and white, and neither are these people. The red knight and I realized that too late... but I just hope that the endgame shows you just how large of a mistake you've made."
"Shut his mouth." As the white knight's blade entered the red's abdomen, the yellow's head fell to the ground.
"Do you have something to say?" The white knight said after a few minutes, noticing that the blue knight had just been sitting in her chair the entire time.
"I really don't care what you guys do, and I really don't care that you just killed those guys. You know that there's only one reason I'm still part of your little team."
"Well, I certainly hope you'll be less apathetic and more willing to help us in the events to come," The white knight replied, "Or you may not be on our 'little team' for long."

Bobby and Elissa stood outside the mansion, noticing the large holes in the sides of the building.
"This must be the place." Bobby said sternly. The two staff wielders walked through the doorless entrance, unsure of what to expect inside the building. The interior had been practically destroyed, and large piles of debris blocked the majority of the hallways leading from the foyer. The stairs had also been destroyed, and there was only one relatively clear pathway. The couple cautiously walked down the hall, saying nothing and listening for noises. A red door covered in scorch marks stood at the end of the hallway, and Bobby gently tapped on it.
"Michael?" He asked.
"What do you want?" Came Michael's harsh voice from behind. Suddenly, a blast of lightning came shooting towards the two trainers, and they flew into the door, knocking it over. Bobby helped Elissa up and looked around the room. It was large and empty, and the only light was a small hole in the roof above. Michael stood in the doorway, the gray staff crackling with electricity and illuminating its owner in an almost scary way.
"So, they sent you to finish the job?!" A deranged look adorned Michael's face. "The coward didn't have the guts to finish me once his little girlfriend froze me there, so he sent you to do it instead?!"
"What the heck are you talking about?!" Bobby asked.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about... the five of you decided to gang up on me and kill me, since you couldn't fifteen years ago... you decided that I must be weak now that I've been in the mountains, so now's the perfect time..."
"Snap out of it!" Elissa interrupted Michael. "We came to warn you!"
"Warn me? About what?!" Michael didn't appear to be believing Elissa.
"The Draconic Knights have betrayed you! They want to summon the Elemental Pokemon using the power of the eight staves!" Bobby exclaimed.
"We know that they sent you out here!" Elissa added. "They didn't want you to interfere with their plans! And if the black staff activates, those plans will become a reality!"
"No... NO!" Michael swung the gray staff out by his side, and an expression of rage grew on his face. "The Draconic Knights are my loyal servants! Stephen is my pupil, and I taught him to use his power because he was just like me! And you... you just want to take away my only chance to bring her back!" He dashed forward with blinding speed, swinging his staff around wildly. Bobby and Elissa agilely dodged, but the wind generated by the power of Michael's swings sent them flying towards opposite corners of the room.
"Darn it, what's wrong with you?!" Bobby held up his staff, and it ignited in a blaze of flames. A pair of fiery wings grew on his back, just like the ones that had appeared in the fight against Vampyro. The intense fire illuminated half of the room, and the glow of Michael's staff as he created his hammer-shaped manifestation of electricity illuminated the other. As Michael charged towards him, Bobby flew to the center of the room and let loose a volley of fiery arrows. Michael held the large hammer in front of him, blocking the attack. The hammer disappeared, but just as soon as it did, the intricate pattern of the bow appeared in its place. Michael pulled back the thin string of electricity and let go, releasing myriad arrows aimed at Bobby. Bobby flapped his fiery wings, sending forth another volley of fire arrows that perfectly blocked Michael's attack. Meanwhile, Elissa had just been standing in her corner of the room with her eyes closed, as if concentrating.
"Stand back, Bobby!" She cried as she opened her eyes and let go of her staff above her head. It began to glow with a brilliant purple light, and suddenly, about three dozen copies of the wielder of the purple staff appeared around her.
"You're just full of surprises." Bobby commented as the clones ran toward Michael.
"What do you hope to accomplish with these stupid tricks?" Michael swung his staff wide, and a wave of electricity took out most of the clones. While he did this, however, he did not notice a large, semitransparent violet fist falling from the sky. The solid fist appeared to crush him, but instead surrounded him as it hit the ground.
"What the heck?!" He wondered. "I can't move!" Elissa's remaining clones disappeared as she focused all of her energy into keeping Michael immobile.
"Now, Bobby!" She shouted.
"Right!" Bobby held his own staff above his head, and the flames from his wings began to spread. His entire body became cloaked in flames, and they spread to create a shape around him even larger than his actual body. It soon became clear that the shape surrounding him strongly resembled a phoenix. By his will, the fiery bird opened its mouth, and just as the lavender hand surrounding Michael disappeared, it let out a blast of fire with a huge range.
"Crap!" Michael held his staff in front of him, but it was too late. The fire hit him head-on. Much to Bobby and Elissa's surprise, however, when the smoke cleared, he was still standing. His clothes were shredded and his body was badly scorched, but he was still standing.
"You... won't... kill... me!" He held the gray staff above his head, and a huge explosion of electrical energy shot out in all directions. Elissa protected herself with a violet shield, but Bobby's phoenix flew straight into the blast. The avian form began to disappear as he headed through the sphere of electricity, but he pressed on, holding his staff out in front of him.
"Snap out of it!" He cried as the phoenix disappeared completely and electricity began to scorch his own body. Just as his eyes closed and he began to slip out of consciousness, the pain suddenly disappeared completely. A bubble of psychic energy surrounded him, and he knew Elissa had created it.
"You have to knock him out!" She yelled over the roar of the electricity. "I can't hold this up much longer!" Bobby nodded his head and continued to descend towards the floor where Michael stood. The wielder of the gray staff's eyes were blank, and it was obvious that he would die if the limitless flow of power was not stopped. Bobby reached out and tapped him in the forehead with the tip of the red staff as he fell to the floor and Elissa's bubble faded. Suddenly, the flow of electricity stopped and Michael fell to the floor along with Bobby. Elissa rushed over the Bobby and helped him up, but it was obvious that Michael was unconscious.
"Forget it," Bobby grumbled, "He didn't even listen to us. I don't care what happens to him now." He shook Elissa off and exited the room. A look of concern grew on Elissa's face, but she knew that there was no way that either of them could get through to the stubborn and arrogant Michael. She ran after Bobby, helping him get out of the house and making sure he didn't fall.
"If Michael did help that kid get the black staff to activate..." Bobby struggled to speak, "Then there's only one thing left to do." Elissa nodded as they sent out their flying Pokemon.
"We have to make sure that the altars are protected." She agreed. The two of them flew off to the northwest, to Victory Road and Zen Island where the others were protecting the altars that the Elemental Pokemon could be summoned from.

"What did you want to talk to me about?" Dan asked. He and Tatiana stood in the shallow, murky waters of the Safari Zone's marsh. Small clumps of grass dotted the area, and a light breeze blew.
"Dan... lately, you've..." Tatiana struggled to speak, as it was obvious she had been emotionally hurt.
"What is it?" The tone in Dan's voice indicated that he didn't realize the pain that his wife was in.
"Wanting to kill Michael... threatening to kill random people that argued with you... Dan, I don't even know who you are any more!" Tears began to pour from the woman's eyes.
"Tati, what are you talking about?" Dan walked over to his wife. "I'm the same person I've always been!"
"No you aren't!" She shook him off. "You've been getting more and more violent... more and more like..." She sniveled, hesitant to finish her sentence.
"No... don't you dare..."
"More and more like... Michael!"
"No!" Vines began to sprout from the ground.
"See! This is what I'm talking about!" Tatiana sobbed as she began to back away from her husband.
"Don't you ever compare me to him!" Dan shouted in a fit of rage. Vines shot forward, entangling Tatiana and lifting her off of the ground.
"Dan! It's me!" She said between sobs. "Look at yourself! Look at what you're doing!"
"Shut up!" Dan waved his staff, and the vines flung Tatiana into a small pond nearby. The man walked over to the murky pond, looking into it and trying to locate his wife.
"Get up!" He waved his staff upward, and vines rose from the bottom of the lake, carrying Tatiana above the surface.
"Dan..." Tatiana cried, not even making the slightest effort to protect herself. The vines flung her onto the muddy ground, and dirt stained her clothes and her skin.
"Don't ever compare me to him... I'm nothing like him!" Dan yelled. Leaves came flying in from all directions, covering Tatiana and encasing her in a leafy cacoon. Vines grabbed the cocoon and sent it flying through the air, and it broke when it hit the ground again.
"Dan... please... listen to yourself... you have to snap out of it..." Tatiana continued to put up no resistance, taking the onslaught of attacks being launched at her. As her eyes began to close and she began to slip out of consciousness, a single memory flashed through her mind.

Fifteen years ago. Dan and Tatiana had encountered Michael inside the Denryel Power Plant, just outside Sparkiban City. A man in a suit, the owner of the plant, was crawling across the floor nearby. Several of the glass cells containing the Pokemon that powered the generator had been broken open, and electricity was flowing all around Michael. Dan's Leafeon had been easily defeated by Michael's staff, and the trainers were now virtually defenseless.
"Now to destroy your little girlfriend!" Michael shouted with a tone of rage. Electricity shot forth from his staff, breaking the glass of several more Pokemon cells. Energy flowed from the Pokemon in the newly broken cells to the gray staff, and it began to glow with incredible power. "Let's see you try to block this with water!" An incredibly large blast of energy shot forth, aimed at Tatiana and Dan, who were standing close to each other.
Crackle!
An enormous green shield appeared in front of the two trainers before anyone could realize what had happened. The wall of vines was as tall and as wide as the room, and the couple's view of Michael was totally obstructed.
"What?!" Came the wielder of the gray staff's voice from the other side of the wall. "So... the green staff has activated as well." The sound of crackling electricity was heard, and the wall of vines shattered. Michael's eyes widened as he realized that Dan was already charged towards him, swinging the green staff.
"Die!" Dan swung his staff, sending a cluster of vines flying towards Michael. Before Michael had time to react, they grabbed onto him, and sent him flying into the building's main generator. Another wave of vines grabbed the gray staff and threw it onto the ground.
"Tch..." Michael reached out for his staff, but even more vines responded by pinning all of his arms and legs to the generator. Dan slammed his staff into the ground, and gigantic vines began to sprout up, smashing everything in their path and destroying the inside of the power plant. Meanwhile, small but sturdy vines formed a cage around Tatiana, protecting her from the destruction. Finally, a single vine shot forth from Dan's staff and flew towards Michael, jabbing him in the stomach and knocking the wind out of him.
"... I'll never... I'll never let anyone hurt you..." Dan said as he fell to the ground, unconscious.

"No!" Suddenly, a burst of blue energy shot forth from Tatiana in all directions, destroying all the vines that threatened to kill her. When the light died down, she stood atop a pillar of ice and looked down at Dan.
"So you've finally decided to fight?" Dan's tone was completely different from normal. It was full of hatred with a hint of sarcasm, much like Michael's.
"The Dan I know would do anything to protect me..." Tatiana muttered, "And he wouldn't let anyone hurt me, even himself!" Icicles shot forth from the blue staff, and Dan raised a shield of dirt and grass to block them. A pillar of vines formed beneath his feet, but before he knew it, Tatiana had already launched several powerful streams of water at him. Large vines blocked the streams as Dan sent forth a volley of leaves, which were countered by a wave of small icicles.
"Bring back the Dan I know and love!" An enormous tidal wave appeared behind Tatiana, growing in size every second. She jumped up and landed on top of it, and began to ride it as if it were a solid platform. As the wave crashed down upon Dan and the shield of vines he had conjured, Tatiana swung her staff, and it connected with Dan's in midair. While Tatiana was still suspended in air, the two exchanged several blows with the staves before gravity caused Tatiana to descend. With a wave of her staff, a stream of water appeared beneath her and carried her right back up to Dan's level, where they fought once again.
"Please forgive me!" She shouted as she jabbed her staff forward. It connected directly with the center of Dan's forehead, causing him to fall back off of the pillar of vines. A large bubble appeared and caught him, but it was obvious that he had been knocked unconscious by the blow.
"Tatiana..." He muttered as he slipped out of consciousness, "... I'm sorry."
---
Note: Bah, I hope the Dan/Tati thing didn't seem sudden. I was *trying* to make stuff build up to it, but I'm just not good at emotional character development and that sort of thing. Meh. And yes, I know it's EXTREMELY corny. >___<.

Chapter 21

David and Geraldo stood outside the temple in Sinnoh's Snowpoint City, where the final legendary titan rested. A light snow fell from the sky, coating the city's buildings with a white blanket. A black-haired, white-robed woman stood in the entrance, outstretching her arms as if to tell the boys that they could not enter.
"Only the pure of heart may enter this temple!" The woman guarding the entrance shouted. "You will go no further!"
"I'll be blunt, lady," David replied, "If you don't let us in, I'm going to kill you." A shocked look grew on the woman's face.
"No!" Geraldo exclaimed. "You don't benefit from killing innocent people! Why would you do it?!"
"Quiet." David drew his sword and pointed it at the woman.
"Placodire, stop him!" Geraldo threw a Pokeball into the air, which opened to reveal Placodire, the evolved form of Dermiarch. It had grown larger, and its scales had become a bluish-teal. Instead of having a sinuous portion like Dermiarch, the portion of its body beyond its hard, slightly boxlike head was somewhere between fleshy and scaly. In some ways, it resembled a shark. The water-type Pokemon let loose a blast of water from its mouth that knocked David away from the temple's guardian.
"Fool." David threw a Pokeball of his own into the air, which contained the red bug Pokemon with steel claws, Scizor. It dashed towards Placodire and slammed it against the side of the temple, grasping its tail fin with its claws. While David had been focusing on this, however, the woman guarding the temple had run away, fleeing for her life.
"Darn, she got away," David said as Geraldo returned the defeated Placodire to its Pokeball, "Oh well, let's go." Scizor flew behind Geraldo as they entered the temple, to ensure that the boy would not run away like the guard did. They descended lower and lower, passing through floor after floor in the frigid building. They eventually made their way to the bottom floor; a floor covered in ice and dotted with rocks. On a platform in the center of the room was their target, the unmoving, moss-covered, yellow and white behemoth that was king of the legendary titans: Regigigas.
"And there he is," David grinned, "Send out one of your fire Pokemon to melt this ice." Compelled by a push from Scizor, Geraldo sent out the Typhlosion that Michael had given him. A stream of fire emitted from its mouth, melting away the ice on the floor and clearing a path to the monstrous titan. The two boys approached the central platform, and Geraldo couldn't help but marvel at the amazing creature.
"We have to send out the other titans." David threw a Dusk Ball into the air, releasing the titan that he had captured himself; Regiside. Geraldo reached for the balls containing the five titans that he had caught, which he kept in a small bag by his waist, but the bag was gone. Scizor had already removed it using its claws, and had handed it to David.
"Just in case you were going to try to pull something and escape," David answered before Geraldo could ask his question, "Now, to awaken the king of the titans!"
"I'm afraid I can't let you do that." Came a familiar voice from the staircase. There, at the foot of the stairs, stood Hector, with a Metagross by his side.
"Hector!" Geraldo exclaimed.
"You're too late!" David shouted, but by the time he looked back to the bag that contained the titans' Dusk Balls, it was gone. He soon realized that it was floating through the air and being carried over to Hector by his Metagross' power.
"Somehow I knew you'd be here," Hector said, "Is revenge really that strong of a motivator to you?"
"What?!" David didn't know what Hector was talking about.
"The Draconic Knights. You agreed to help them so that you could get revenge on that teacher."
"How did you know about that?!"
"I'm a hacker. There are video cameras on every floor of the Team Rocket Headquarters building. Do the math," Hector smirked slightly, "Now, I'll ask you again. Is revenge really such a strong motivator?"
"Why the heck do you care?!" David was beginning to get angry.
"I'm doing research, you see, on the emotions of humans and Pokemon," Hector replied, "It's for the assignment that Michael gave me."
"Michael... hah," David chuckled, "If you were watching the Draconic Knights' security cameras, then surely you know what's happening to him right now."
"What...?" David's statement came as a surprise to Hector.
"Oh, you probably stopped watching as soon as you heard about what I was going to do, didn't you?" David grinned an evil grin as he realized that he had an upper hand in the battle of information. "But they told me... right now, Stephen is probably killing Michael."
"... What?!" Both Geraldo and Hector were surprised.
"You're a logical man, Hector. Geraldo's going to live. So what's more important? Trying to stop this early stage of the Draconic Knights' plan yourself... and standing a very good chance of failing, by the way... or saving the life of the only man who stands a chance of stopping that plan when it comes into fruition? Don't worry! The others are standing guard at the altars, they'll stop me!"
"Tch!" David had completely and correctly predicted his thought process. While he knew that the fact that David had predicted it meant that something was wrong with it, he couldn't think of any other options. "Sableye!" As soon as the purple dark-type Pokemon appeared from its Pokeball, it disappeared, reappearing on Geraldo's head. It disappeared along with the boy, and they reappeared once again by Hector's side. The two boys quickly ran up the stairs, rushing to save Michael in time.
"What an idiot." David smirked. While Hector had been commanding his Sableye, he hadn't noticed that Regiside had also disappeared, and had stolen the bag containing the other titans' Dusk Balls, as well as its own Dusk Ball. He threw the five occupied balls into the air, releasing the other five titans.
"Now... Awaken, Regigigas!" He shouted. The yellow and white titan began to glow, and slowly, it began to move. It let out a cry that caused the room to rumble, but David was prepared. The other six titans let loose various attacks, and because it had just woken up from a long slumber, the king of the titans was disoriented and unable to fend off the attacks. The combined might of the first six titans quickly felled the seventh, and it was defeated within a matter of minutes.
"I suppose now would be as good a time as any to use this." With a smirk, David pulled a purple and pink Pokeball out from his pocket. In the center of the front of it was the letter 'M'.
"Master Ball, go!" The boy threw the Master Ball, which engulfed Regigigas in a bright red light. Once the titan had disappeared, it rolled around for a few seconds, but it was successful in capturing the legendary creature.
"Now... to get those altars." David let out a maniacal laugh.

The larger of the two groups that had split up to protect the altars stood in the main chamber of Victory Road, where six of the Elemental Pokemon had been summoned fifteen years ago. The chamber remained virtually unchanged; the six color-coded walls stood intact, protecting the altars that laid behind them.
"One more time!" Paris exclaimed. He and Chey stood a short distance away from the rest of the large group, as he was instructing her on how to use her staff.
"Hyah!" Chey swung the white staff upward, and several shining spikes ascended from beneath the ground. She then jumped into the air and swung her staff out in front of herself, sending a wave of white energy towards a wall. Finally, as she began to fall back down to the ground, she jammed the white staff into the hard, rocky floor, and caused a small explosion, creating a crater about two feet deep and about four feet in diameter around her.
"Very good," Paris congratulated his daughter, "Now, let's practice animation." He began to look around the room, and quickly spotted a pile of rocks in an unoccupied corner.
"Alright, now, what you want to do is try to make those rocks move... if you can, make it seem like a living creature of some sort."
"I'll try." Chey nodded as she lifted the white staff with one hand, pointing it at the pile of rocks. She closed her eyes, and a small, soft-looking orb of light shot out of the tip of the staff. It slowly floated over to the pile of rocks and moved to the center of the arrangement. Moments later, the rocks began to form around the orb and take the shape of a Geodude. The replica of the rock-type Pokemon looked nearly perfect, other than the fact that white light shone through the places where the eyes and mouth would be.
"Very good!" Paris clapped his hands, as did several other trainers who had been watching Chey. "Now, make it use an attack."
"Right," Chey nodded once again, "Let's see... how about a Mega Punch?" She moved her staff slightly, and the fake Geodude moved along with it. She quickly swung her staff towards the wall where the pile of rocks had initially sat, and the Geodude began to fly towards the same wall. It thrust its arm forward, slamming it into the wall with great force and breaking a small hole open.
"Amazing!" Paris clapped his hands much more rapidly than before. "You've made incredible progress!"
"Thanks!" Chey opened her eyes, and moments later, the light orb inside the makeshift Geodude disappeared, causing the pile of rocks to fall to the floor, inanimate once again.
"Oops... I guess I broke my concentration." Chey scratched the back of her head and smiled innocently.
"Don't worry about it, you did great." Paris walked over to his daughter and put his hand on her shoulder.
"Only one of the staff wielders is here? How disappointing!" David's voice echoed throughout the cavernous chamber.
"What?!" Various teachers and Gym Leaders began to look around, alerted by the voice. David stepped out of the dark hallway on one side of the room, repeatedly throwing and catching a Dusk Ball in his hand.
"You!" Nicholas immediately identified the boy and turned to Mr. Lawson, "It's David!" David needed no introduction; the teachers already recognized him as the boy who Nicholas had failed to save from expulsion. Nicholas immediately reached for a Pokeball on his belt, afraid that David would attempt to attack him with his sword.
"Don't worry, Nick, I'm not here for you. Although, if you were to be killed in the process, that would be quite an added perk."
"Everyone, send out all of your Pokemon!" Mrs. Searle shouted, wanting to take no risks against the boy with the sword. She threw six Pokeballs of her own into the air, releasing her Claydol, Drifblim, and Crobat as well as a Roserade, a Xatu, and a Bronzong. Three other Olemenun Academy staff members joined in; Mr. Ebipese sent out Internele, Izaguiraze, Mawile, PorygonX, Schemustel, and Tyrannitar; Mr. Lawson sent out Aggron, Golem, Pelipper, Poliwrath, Probopass, and Victrebell; and Mr. Pennington sent out Alakazam, Diviso, Linoone, Multie, Pidgeot, and Tangrowth. The only staff member who did not send out all of their Pokemon was Procter, who only sent out his Rhyperior. The rest of the students and Gym Leaders sent out all of their Pokemon as well, revealing that some of the children's Pokemon had evolved.
Chey's Ivysaur and Electabuzz had evolved into Venusaur and Electivire respectively.
Emily's Umbrellad had evolved into Umbrellady, a Pokemon that looked similar to Umbrellord but more feminine, and its parasol was white and pink instead of white and red. Her Xatu had evolved into Solatu, and its appearance had changed quite drastically. A half-closed third eye now rested in the center of its forehead, three long violet feathers stuck out of the back of its head, and smaller red feathers stuck out of its neck like the sun's rays. A red-pupiled eye design adorned its green chest, and white feathers arranged like a skirt surrounded its black torso. Its six-feathered, white wings with black stripes on them stuck out of its back, and it had a small yellow tail. Its yellow beak was longer than before, and its feet were orange-red. Lesard had evolved into Femidoph, and had grown larger. Among the several changes to its body, the most significant was that it now had four tails instead of one. The fourth and final evolution among Emily's Pokemon was Jynx, who had become a Kogaluv. Its skin color had changed from purple to dark tan, and its hair color had become closer to orange. Its red dress no longer reached the floor, and in fact, the lower portion of it now resembled a skirt. Its legs were quite thick, and it appeared to be wearing black platform boots. Small, silver, almost star-shaped designs now adorned its cheeks.
Two more of Chris's Pokemon had evolved, as well. His Umbrellad had evolved into Umbrellord, and his Mr. Mime had evolved into Mime Sr. Its body was now covered in white and red horizontal stripes, and its large, circular red joints were now smaller and colored black. A small black beret now adorned its head, and its face was pure white, except for a small black design on each of its cheeks where red circles had once been. A thin black mustache now rested above its upper lip.
Jeremy's Evapord had evolved into Surmast, Dragonair had evolved into Dragonite, and Electrode had become Magnetorb. Its evolution had obviously involved a member of the Magnemite family, as its body was now colored like a Magnemite's, even though its face remained virtually the same. Three small red, blue, and gray bar magnets floated around it, and its blue magnetic field was faintly visible.
Three Pokemon of Troy's had evolved; Possilver had evolved into Opold, Snailodium had become Eschlorigo, and Pocus had evolved into Ephphatha. Ephphatha greatly resembled Avada, but its skin was a much lighter shade of yellow. Its cloth garments were white instead of black, and it had a white heart shape on its forehead instead of a black spade. Its eyes were not glowing red, but its entire body let off a faint white glow, giving it the overall appearance of a light type.
Nicholas sent out all six of his Pokemon, two of which had evolved, and three of which had not yet been seen by the others. His Pokeballs opened to contain Noctowl, Slowking, Forretress, and evolved forms of Ponyta, Dandilyon, and Lanturn. Ponyta's evolution, Frightmare, had black hair and glowing red eyes. It was surrounded by a ghostly aura, and the fire on its back seemed more ghostly than that on Ponyta or Rapidash. Dandilyon's evolved form was Raxacarn. It was larger and fiercer looking, and its mane was now made of both white and yellow dandelion petals. It now had two tails, both of which had a relatively large dandelion clock on the tip of it. Lanturn's evolution, Luminare, had grown much larger, and its front fins were much larger proportionately as well. Its previously blue scales were now white, and its yellow designs had changed. In place of its blue fin with glowing spheres on it, there was now a semitransparent yellow glowing pyramid shape.
"Hah... those pathetic Pokemon are no match for me... legendary titans, attack!" David threw the six Dusk Balls into the air, releasing the first six of the legendary titans.
"Those are... the legendary titans!" Mr. Lawson exclaimed.
"Now... destroy them!" The six titans began to walk forward, causing the earth to tremble as they moved. The teachers', students', and Gym Leaders' Pokemon ran forward and launched their own attacks, attempting to fight the legendary Pokemon.
"We cannot lose this battle!" Paris shouted. "We must protect the altars!"

A small, swirling black vortex appeared in front of Michael's house, and Stephen stepped out of it, the black staff in one hand and Duskarrion perched on the other shoulder. Without saying a word, he entered the house and began to look around for Michael.
"Where are you?" He asked, even though he knew there would be no response. Suddenly, something caught his eye. Light was dancing around in a room whose door had been broken down. Stephen entered the room, and sure enough, Michael was propped up against the far wall. His eyes were barely open, but he was conscious.
"There you are." Stephen approached the man that had taught him how to use his staff.
"Ste... phen?" Michael looked up. He was still very weak from his fight with Bobby and Elissa.
"Geez, what happened to you?" Stephen inquired, feigning interest.
"Bobby... and... Elissa... attacked.. me..." Michael struggled to speak.
"Oh, really? Why would they do something like that?"
"They said... that the Draconic Knights were betraying me..." Michael let out a weak laugh. Stephen laughed too, but his laugh and expression were much more nervous.
"Heh, heh, heh... and you didn't believe that, right?"
"... Right..."
"Well..." Stephen lifted his staff, "That was a mistake." He slammed his staff into the ground, and dark bars shot up, surrounding Michael.
"What?!" Michael immediately became alert. With a flick of his staff, lightning shot forth and destroyed the dark cage, allowing him to stand up.
"You know, I must thank Bobby and Elissa the next time I see them," Stephen sarcastically, "By weakening you, they've made this so much easier!" He waved his staff, and nigrescent spikes shot up from the ground. Michael jumped out of the way just in time to avoid the spikes, and the gray staff quickly adopted its bow pattern.
"Zeus's arrows!" He shouted. Dozens of electric arrows shot forward, but Stephen wasn't even fazed. Dark arrows shot from the tip of the black staff, and matched all of Michael's arrows, destroying them in midair. The black arrows were more powerful, and continued to fly at Michael, even after losing some force when colliding with the electric arrows. Michael attempted to avoid the dark projectiles, but several of them hit him. Stephen began to approach him, but he quickly held up his staff as it transformed into the large electric hammer.
"Thor's Hammer!" He yelled as he swung it at Stephen. The boy disappeared in an instant, and reappeared behind Michael. Dark hands exended from the tip of the black staff and grabbed onto Michael and the gray staff. The darkness expanded, enveloping all of Michael except for his head and removing the gray staff from his hand. The cocoon rose into the air, and stayed about four feet off of the ground.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you," Stephen said as he walked up to his former mentor, "You may still be of use to us in the future. I'm just going to make sure you can't interfere with our plans."
"No..." Michael struggled to break free of the nigrescent cocoon, but he could not.
"You know, I was a little disappointed when I discovered the reason why they sent you up here," Stephen was now mocking Michael as he circled around the floating cocoon, "It's not that I was surprised. I was just disappointed that you never told me, your pupil!"
"What are you talking about?" Michael obviously wasn't in the mood for games.
"You know, the mental instability," Stephen pointed to his own head and tapped on it a few times, "Your top advisors, the Draconic Knights, decided that, because of your deteriorating mental condition, you were unfit to run Team Rocket... so they sentenced you to solitary confinement out here in the Chasm Mountains." Michael's eyes widened, surprised by how much Stephen knew.
"And yet you still trusted them more than your supposed 'friends', who were trying to save you!" Stephen chuckled. "You really are an idiot! No wonder they didn't want you leading Team Rocket!"
"You...!" Michael struggled even more, but it was still just as futile.
"Ah, man, you're making me laugh so hard that I'm crying," Stephen wiped a tear from his eye, "But enough of this. That's enough teasing for now. Begone." Stephen flicked the black staff, and the darkness surrounding Michael engulfed him completely. A few moments later, the mass of dark hands disappeared, and Michael was gone along with it.
"Man, that was too easy." Stephen said to himself as he exited the room and walked back to the foyer. Much to his surprise, Hector and Geraldo were standing in the middle of the foyer, staring straight at him.
"Ah! Hector, Geraldo! Good to see you!" Stephen greeted the boys nonchalantly. "How are you doing with the jobs that Michael assigned you?"
"Cut the crap," Hector immediately saw through Stephen's façade, "Where is Michael?"
"What do you mean?" Stephen asked.
"David said that you'd be here, trying to kill Michael!" Geraldo responded.
"Ah, David, David... what a fool. Probably sold me out to save his own hide."
"Where is Michael?!" Hector repeated himself, this time with more of a sense of urgency in his voice.
"He is safe," Stephen answered, "But I think you should be more worried about your own safety." He pointed in between Hector and Geraldo. Both boys looked back, falling for the trick. Stephen quickly shot a wave of small dark hands from the tip of his staff that grabbed all of Hector and Geraldo's Pokeballs and removed them from their belts.
"Hey!" Geraldo exclaimed as he and Hector turned back around.
"Too slow, too slow," Stephen mused, "Now then. If you've already met up with David, I suppose that means that Geraldo has played his part... but Hector, I think you still have some work to do, don't you?"
"Hey! Don't change the subject!" Hector responded. "And I'm not going to work for you anyways!"
"Oh, no, not for me," Stephen replied, "For the Draconic Knights. They're in charge now. And trust me, working for them will be much more... rewarding... than working for Michael was."
"What the heck are you talking about?" Hector asked.
"With the power that the Draconic Knights will acquire with our help... they can make our wildest dreams come true!" Stephen exclaimed. "I'm sure you two want revenge, don't you? Of course you do! That's the entire reason we decided to steal the black staff! And with the Draconic Knights, we can get that revenge!"
"Tch... but..." Hector struggled to think of something to say.
"Don't worry! Michael is safe! You'll be doing the same thing you always were, just think of it as having a new boss! Come on, you've got nothing to lose!"
"Tch..." Hector muttered as he turned to Geraldo, "I don't like the idea of this, but without our Pokemon, we're defenseless..."
"I guess we should go with it for now, so we don't die." Geraldo suggested.
"Very well," Hector turned back to face Stephen, "We'll help you."
"Excellent, excellent!" Stephen exclaimed. "Now then, Hector, the computer room is still intact, so you can get to work on that." Hector began to carefully walk up the broken stairs.
"And Geraldo... well, I suppose we still have some preperations to make back at Headquarters, so you can come with me." Geraldo nodded his head. Stephen slashed the air with his staff, and a swirling dark portal opened. Geraldo stepped into the portal, followed by Stephen, and the portal disappeared.

Note: Yeah, yeah. He used a Master Ball, he didn't need to weaken it. I know. But David enjoys showing off his power, and he knew that he could easily defeat Regigigas. So there. =P

Chapter 22

It had only been ten minutes since the battle had started, and already, very few Pokemon remained to oppose David. Even though David and Geraldo had captured the titans relatively effortlessly, Chey and her allies' Pokemon were no match for them under David's training. Most of the trainers only had one or two Pokemon left, and the majority of the remaining Pokemon were greatly weakened. The only Pokemon that remained virtually unscathed was Procter's Rhyperior.
"Now, time to finish this!" David shouted. "Titans, attack!"
"Perhaps it cannot be helped, then." Procter closed his eyes and sighed. Without saying another word, he reached for the five Pokeballs remaining on his belt and threw them into the air. In a flash, his Gliscor appeared, along with a Swampert, Steelix, Nidoking, and Nidoqueen.
"Procter's other Pokemon..." Mrs. Searle gasped, "He never sends out any of them besides Gliscor and Rhyperior... He must be taking this really seriously!" Procter merely waved two fingers in front of his face without opening his eyes, and his Pokemon charged forward. Steelix dove into the ground and quickly popped up under the moving Registeel, sending it flying into the air. A well-aimed Rock Wrecker attack from Rhyperior crashed into Regirock, halting its movement by knocking it off of its feet. Regice's Ice Beam was met by an equally powerful Ice Beam from Swampert, and Regigrass' Solarbeam was stopped by a powerful Hyper Beam from Gliscor. A Megahorn from Nidoking and a Superpower from Nidoqueen easily toppled Regiside and Regiquake. The titans tried to fight back, but surprisingly, they were no match for Procter's Pokemon. Procter had the advantage, and if the battle kept going as it was, he would win.
"Enough fooling around," David held the Master Ball out in front of himself, "Regigigas, take care of these fools." In a flash, the gigantic white and yellow behemoth appeared behind the other titans, provoking nothing but looks of awe from the various trainers on the other side of the room. Its monstrous hands easily lifted Nidoking and Nidoqueen, flinging them against opposite walls. It trudged over to Swampert and Gliscor, threatening to flatten them with its giant feet. Instead, it sideswiped them with its arm and sent them flying across the room. Next, it turned its attention to Steelix, whose back was to it. It grabbed the long, snake-like Pokemon by the end of its tail and began to swing it around, knocking Rhyperior off of its feet in the process. It then let the Steelix go, sending it crashing into Swampert and Gliscor.
"What?!" Procter was nearly dumbfounded, and for the first time in a long time, it seemed that he was actually losing his cool. While Regigigas had been defeating his Pokemon, the other titans had recovered and defeated the other trainers' remaining Pokemon, leaving the trainers defenseless.
"Chey, it's..."
"I know," She interrupted her father, "It's up to me now." She stepped out of the group of trainers, passing by the unconscious bodies of several Pokemon.
"Hah! Do you hope to defeat me by yourself now?" David let out a loud chuckle. "Don't make me laugh!"
"Hyah!" Chey stabbed the ground with the white staff, and cracks in the earth spread forward from where the staff had made contact. Bright light shone from the cracks, and soily figures began to rise from them. The figures took the shapes of various Pokemon, both those that belonged to the ground-type classification and those that didn't. With a flick of their summoner's staff, they dashed forward, charging at the titans that had been weakened by Procter's Pokemon's assault.
"What is this nonsense?" David stretched his arm out. "Regigigas!" The king of the titans punched the ground, sending shockwaves of a huge magnitude rippling forth and knocking the Pokemon replicas off of their feet. As they fell to the ground, they fell apart, and the white glow inside of them faded.
"No!" Chey shouted. She lifted her staff out of the ground and stuck it straight up into the air. "Then let's try this!" Suddenly, the bodies of Procter's defeated Pokemon began to glow. The Pokemon slowly opened their eyes as they regained consciousness, and they began to move once again.
"We'll never get anywhere if she just keeps doing that," David realized, "So the solution to this problem is clear." With a snap of his fingers, all seven titans began to move towards Chey. Procter's Pokemon managed to fend off the first six, but no one stood to stop Regigigas. Chey flung her staff around, and beams of light shot from it, but they seemed to have no effect on the king of the titans. It grabbed ahold of the white staff and ripped it from the girl's hands with such force and speed that she was lifted several feet into the air before letting go. She fell to the ground, landing on her back.
"Ah!" She yelled, reaching out in vain, trying to grab the staff unsuccessfully. The large white and yellow titan effortlessly threw the staff over the back of its shoulder, and David caught it.
"Now, Regigigas, let's get what we came for!" The large titan moved toward the orange stone slab that guarded the matching altar.
"No way!" Paris began to run toward the titan as if to try and stop it, but he hit a glowing, semitransparent wall. He turned to David and saw the boy's Gallade and Serafimask standing in front of him, creating a box around Chey and her allies with their psychic powers. All eyes turned back to Regigigas as it slowly but surely lifted the stone slab that could supposedly only be moved by the power of the orange staff. As the majority of the opening was revealed, the slab crumbled, unable to handle the pressure exerted by Regigigas. The large titan Pokemon slowly repeated the process on the other five slabs, opening all six of the rooms that contained altars. The other six titans entered the opened rooms, and moments later, exited them, carrying the entire platforms from the centers of the rooms that the altars rested on.
"Later, suckers!" David laughed as he exited the room, followed by the small army of large titans. Gallade and Serafimask exited the chamber last, allowing their master and the titans to get far enough away before the box that they had created faded due to the distance between it and them.
"No!" Mrs. Searle exclaimed. "They got the altars!"
"And Chey's staff, too!" Paris added.
"What are we going to do now?" Various students and Gym Leaders asked, very worried.
"At any rate, we should make sure that they do not get the black and white altars, too." Procter decided as he regained his calm and cool composure that he had lost when his Pokemon were defeated. The trainers returned all of their unconscious Pokemon to their Pokeballs and quickly exited Victory Road from the north exit, heading for the Pokemon League building.

Matt and Nosfrostu stood alone on the small circular landmass known as Zen Island. It remained unchanged over the years; its abnormally colored grass still gave it the appearance of a Yin Yang, and the black and white altars still rested opposite eachother in the Yin Yang's small circular sections. On a small patch of grass that stuck off of the island and disfigured its nearly perfect circular shape stood the ninth altar, where Nitroneutra had been summoned fifteen years ago. The fact that it had appeared meant that all eight staves were active, so Matt and Nosfrostu knew that they had to defend the altars with their lives.
"Who should we be on the lookout for?" Nosfrostu asked her companion.
"A couple of young boys. One of them carries a sword on his back." Matt answered.
"Right." Nosfrostu nodded her head. Suddenly, an unidentifiable fiery object came crashing down from the sky, creating a lot of smoke as it hit the ground. When the smoke cleared, its form was easy to identify.
"Vampyro!"Matt exclaimed. In the center of the island, between him and Nosfrostu, stood the latter's counterpart and brother. Vampyro's entire body was ignited with white-hot flames, and his fiery shuriken were equally hot and similarly colored.
"Hello... sister. I suppose you know why I'm here..." He pointed to the white altar that sat behind Nosfrostu, "If you don't hand it over... I'll kill you." As Vampyro glared into her eyes, Nosfrostu saw no traces remaining of the Pokemon she once knew as her brother. The fiery vampire had truly been driven mad by the desire for the staves' power, and he was willing to go as far as killing his own sister to obtain it.
"Matthew... stay back." Nosfrostu approached her brother, "I know you want revenge... but this is my fight." An intense, frigid white aura burst forth from Nosfrostu's body, and as she conjured her icy chakrams, they grew both in size and in power. She closed her eyes, and when she reopened them, there was no cornea, iris, or retina. Instead, a pure, icy blue light shone forth from her eye sockets.
"Fine... we will settle this now." Vampyro blinked his own eyes, and a similar transformation took place, but the light that shone from his eye sockets was red and demonic. In an instant, both vampires disappeared, moving so fast that they were invisible to the human eye. All Matt saw were two fast-moving blurs that constantly collided with eachother in midair whenever they became visible.
"Tch... there must be something I can do!" Matt thought aloud.
"Well, you could try keeping your eyes on the altars, but I suppose it's too late for that now, isn't it?" Matt turned to see a young boy with the black staff in his hand standing near the white altar.
"You...! You must be..."
"The one and only." Stephen grinned evilly as the black staff began to glow.
"You won't take these altars!" Matt ran towards the boy, but by the time he swung his staff, Stephen had disappeared. He reappeared behind the wielder of the orange staff, and wasted no time, sending dark projectiles from the tip of the black staff. Matt narrowly dodged the attack by jumping into the air, and as he fell back towards the ground, he swung his staff at Stephen. The boy easily countered with his own staff and stood his ground, not moving a single inch from the force of the attack.
"What?!" Matt was shocked. Stephen flung him away, and he landed perfectly on his feet, but he could not get over the shock that the boy had been able to block his attack so easily.
"You're wondering how I blocked you so easily, even though your staff makes you a master of physical combat... aren't you?" Stephen inquired. "You're forgetting that I was trained by a man who accomplished that feat on several occasions."
"Michael... I knew that style looked familiar." Matt gritted his teeth. "Alright then... how about this?!" He disappeared, moving with great speed. He reappeared behind Stephen, but the boy had predicted the attack. A wall of dark energy rose up behind him, blocking the attack from the orange staff.
"Honestly, did you think that that would..." Stephen looked up, and surprisingly, Matt was already descending upon him from above. The boy quickly rose his staff, generating a shield of dark energy that blocked Matt's aerial attack just in time. Matt somersaulted backwards, landing on the ground a few feet away from Stephen.
"Now, normally I'd take that staff of yours, but I've already got enough to carry." Stephen laughed as a dark portal opened behind the white altar. The suction force that it generated began to pull the ground around the altar apart, and soon, the altar itself was sucked into the vortex. Matt helplessly looked around as two more portals appeared behind the other two altars on the island, absorbing them as well.
"No!" Matt rushed towards Stephen one last time, but the boy disappeared, reappearing in behind him.
"So long!" Stephen waved the black staff, and a final vortex appeared, allowing him to escape into it. Matt ran towards the dark portal that Stephen had entered, but just before he reached it, all four of the vortexes disappeared.
"No!" Matt slammed his staff into the ground, frustrated. He looked up and saw that the vampiric siblings were still fighting, but they were obviously getting tired, as their movements had slowed to a point where Matt could see them.
"Give it up, Nosfrostu! You cannot defeat me!" Vampyro exclaimed as he slashed at his sister with one of his shuriken.
"Vampyro... please, listen to me!" Nosfrostu replied as she countered with one of her chakrams. "You have to snap out of this!" Vampyro glanced down, noticing that the altars were gone.
"My job is done." The male vampire unexpectedly started flying away from the island, heading southeast.
"What...?" Nosfrostu looked down, noticing the absence of the altars. "No!"
"We have to follow him!" Matt exclaimed. He was already on the back of his Staraptor, ready to fly. "If they're not planning on summoning the Elemental Pokemon from the right locations, they must be going to Team Rocket's Headquarters!" Nosfrostu nodded. The pair began to fly in the direction that Vampyro had, putting all of their effort into flying fast enough that they would not lose sight of the fleeing vampire. Matt whipped out his cell phone, quickly dialing the phone number that Mr. Procter had given him.
"Mr. Procter! The altars of Hydreath, Oxyglife, and Nitroneutra have been stolen from Zen Island!"
"They have? ****..." Procter paused, taking a moment to think, "The other six altars have been stolen as well. Do you have any idea where they might be going?"
"The only place I can think of is Team Rocket's Headquarters!" Matt replied.
"Hmm... Yes, I agree. We'll meet you there." Procter hung up his phone and immediately announced the situation to the rest of his group. The large group, whose ranks now included the Elite 4, quickly scurried out of the building, releasing their recently healed flying Pokemon and taking to the skies.

A dark portal opened in the doorway of the computer room in Michael's mansion, and Stephen stepped out of it, his Duskarrion by his side as always. Hector was busily typing on several computers at once, and looking to various screens throughout the room.
"What do you want?" He asked bitterly without turning around.
"Just came to check on how things were going."
"I'm not about to tell the likes of you."
"Hey now, you don't have to be so nasty about it." Stephen said sarcastically. He walked up behind Hector and looked at some of the screens.
"Hmm, looks like it's progressing quite well. However..." He rose his staff to the back of Hector's head, "I'm going to need you to finish in the next hour."
"The next hour? Why? That's impossible!"
"Our enemies are on the move. The final battle is approaching rapidly."
"Our enemies? What the heck are you talking about? Your enemies, maybe, but not mine!" Hector was getting angry and losing his usual calm and sarcastic attitude. "That's it, I'm through with this. I'm just going to turn myself in, and let them expel me. It's better than doing whatever the heck you expect me to do."
"I'm sorry to hear that." The black staff began to glow with an intense dark aura, and the violet feathers atop Duskarrion's head began to glow similarly. A dark hand shot from the tip of the black staff and grabbed onto the top of Hector's head. It sunk into the computer genius's head, and his eyes went blank.
"Now... finish the project."
"Yes sir." Hector began typing even more rapidly than before, rushing to finish his assignment in the time that Stephen had ordered.

Bobby and Elissa had been flying through the Chasm Mountains, heading northwest, when they received a call from Matt. He had told them to meet him at Team Rocket's Headquarters, so they had to change direction and go south.
"Crap... this means that they got the altars." Bobby said, annoyed and slightly angry.
"Then... aren't we just helping them by going there?" Elissa wondered. "If all eight staves are gathered there, then the altars will..."
"That's why we have to stop them before the altars get set up," Bobby explained, "Besides, in the event that the Elemental Pokemon are summoned, it's seven against one. The chances of him getting all of our staves and placing them on the ninth altar are slim to none," He tilted his head back and looked to the sky, "Heck, Michael and his staff might not even be there."
"I guess you're right." Elissa agreed. She kicked her Togekiss lightly, signalling it to move faster. The two flying Pokemon sped towards Balankou City, where they would meet up with the rest of the trainers that would fight alongside them against Team Rocket.

"They took the staff!" Omar exclaimed. The Elemental Six had returned to their hidden home, only to discover that the Draconic Knights had seen through their strategy and taken the white staff.
"What the heck are we going to do now?" Twitchy asked with a twitch.
"We're going to take it back." Ryan held up his right hand and dressed it in a white glove, the same glove that Jacob XII's mother had used to steal the white staff from Mr. Catalano fifteen years ago. As he equipped his left hand with the orange glove that he himself had worn fifteen years ago, the others put on their own gloves. They then proceeded to exit their home and send out their flying Pokemon, taking to the skies and heading for Balankou City.
"It's time to take those fools down." Ryan said confidently.

Michael sat alone in a small white room, presumeably in Team Rocket's Headquarters, propped up against one of the walls. There were no windows or doors; the only way to get in or out of the room was with a teleportation power like Stephen's. All of Michael's Pokemon had been taken from him, but he had been allowed to keep the gray staff.
"This room is lined with ten feet of rubber and teflon," Stephen had taunted, "You won't be able to do anything with that staff of yours." Michael had tested this theory several times, and it had always proven to be true.
"Tch... that little punk," Michael thought aloud, "He's just being used by the knights... they probably offered him revenge, or the ability to get his girlfriend back, or something..." His eyes drifted off, "He doesn't know how lucky he is... his girlfriend just dumped him..."

"Thank you all for coming." The old man at the podium at the end of the center aisle bowed and walked away. Behind the podium was a long, black, open coffin. In it laid a young girl with long, blonde hair. She was dressed in beautiful, white silk garments, and held a bouquet of roses in her arms, which were positioned to hold the flowers to her chest. Pictures of the girl decorated the area, along with countless flower arrangements. A boy of thirteen or fourteen years, the same age as the girl, wearing a black suit and dressy black pants, walked up to the coffin, grabbing the edges of it with his trembling fists. Tears fell onto the edge of the casket and dribbled down the side as the boy wiped his face with one arm, trying to stop their flow.
"Michael... are you okay?" A woman in her thirties or fourties wearing a black dress walked up beside the boy.
"I'm... I'm fine," The boy struggled to speak between sobs, "How... how is Selena?"
"She doesn't understand any of this," The deceased girl's mother replied, "She's only three. We'll have to explain it to her when she's older... but for now, she is blissfully unaware of what has happened."
"But... she was there... how could she not..." The young Michael began.
"She just... doesn't understand what happened. I don't know how to explain it..."
"I guess... maybe it's good that she doesn't understand." Michael decided as he wiped more tears from his eyes. He walked away from the casket, walking down the main aisle in the center of the room. As he approached the door, a man in a brown trenchcoat and a deerstalker hat stepped in his path.
"Excuse me, son," The man with the detective-like appearance said, "Are you Michael Stephens?"
"Y-yeah..."
"I was told that you were a witness to the death of Shayna Muun. Would you mind telling me what happened, exactly?"
"Wh-what?" Michael was startled by the abrupt and blunt question.
"Have you no dignity?" The man who had given the speech at the podium had overheard the detective's question. "This boy is grieving the loss of his dear friend, and you wish to reconjure the painful memories of what happened? He already gave his testimonial."
"Sir, do you honestly expect me to believe that a flock of wild Fearow..."
"It has happened before," The old man interrupted the detective, "Now get out of my funeral home."
"Sir, it's very important that..."
"Do not make me call security. Get out of my funeral home." The white-haired man repeated himself. The detective scowled, but left the room as he had been told.
"I'm sorry about that, boy," The funeral home's owner turned back to Michael once the detective had left, "If there's anything I can do to make it up to you..."
"It... it's fine." Michael replied.
"Alright. Peace be with you." The man walked away, leaving Michael to exit the room alone.
---
Note: Yeah, you probably don't remember, but Michael's last name is Stephens. The only other time it was mentioned was in Chapter one of the original EL. And no, it's not a coincidence that Stephen from ELOA has the same first name as Michael's last name. Well, you probably didn't think it was. If you did, you're t3h st00pidz.

Chapter 23

Geraldo peered into a pair of binoculars, mounted on a short silver pole, facing a mostly clear sky through a large window. The binoculars were set up in a large room that occupied the entire ninety-ninth floor of the Team Rocket Headquarters building. The rest of the furniture in the room indicated that it was a lounge of sorts. The black knight sat in a comfortable-looking red armchair near Geraldo.
"Anything?" He asked, keeping his speech to a minimum as always.
"No... not yet," Geraldo replied, "Actually... wait a minute... yes. From the northwest... it's a big group. Probably the ones that David encountered."
"Inform white." The black knight ordered.
"Yes sir." Geraldo scurried to the elevator nearby. It opened immediately when he pressed the button; the knights had probably rigged it for efficiency, as time was crucial.
"I can't believe this..." He thought as the elevator began to descend to the eighty-seventh floor, "I mean, I kinda wanted revenge on Troy when I decided to go with Hector and Stephen, but that's all I wanted... I didn't want to get caught up in something like this!" The elevator doors opened, and he walked down the long, empty hallway to the Draconic Knight's room.
"Hector... I hope he's okay... by now, he's probably snuck out of Michael's house, and gone to get help! Yeah... or maybe he knocked Stephen unconscious! Yeah, that's probably what Hector would do..." He opened the glass double-doors, and the illusion of the small, empty, white room immediately disappeared. Obviously, the white knight had disspelled the illusion as soon as she recognized that it was Geraldo.
"What news do you bring?" She asked. She now sat in the red knight's throne instead of her own, as it was more fancifully decorated. She casually sipped a soda can, something that Geraldo was shocked to see her doing instead of the blue knight, who was nowhere to be found.
"A large group is heading this way. It's probably the group that David fought in Victory Road."
"... Very well." The white knight said after thinking for a few seconds. She set her half-finished soda can on the floor and got up from her seat. She clapped her hands twice, and the glass double-doors opened. Geraldo turned to see two people standing in the doorway. The first was a tan-skinned woman in her twenties, and the second was a teenage boy with short brown hair.
"Danielle. Joe. Our guests are on their way. Is the stage set for them?"
"Yes m'am," Joe answered, "Balankou has been evacuated, and all other buildings have been leveled."
"Excellent," The knight began to walk towards the doors, and the other three people in the room stepped out of her way, "Danielle, ensure that the blue knight is at her post. Joe, round up the grunts."
"Right!" The two that had most recently entered the room left to do what they had been told.
"Um, excuse me?" Geraldo shyly asked.
"What is it?"
"Why are those swords mounted against the wall? What happened to their owners?" Geraldo pointed to the back wall, where the swords of the red and yellow knights were mounted. Above each of them was a Pokeball, containing that knight's dragon Pokemon.
"Ah... do not worry about that." The white knight walked over to the wall and removed the two Pokeballs. She placed them on her belt next to her own dragon's ball, and began to walk towards the door.
"Oh, I almost forgot..." The white knight stopped walking as she approached the boy, "Call Stephen. Find out where he is."
"There will be no need for that." Stephen's voice echoed through the room as a dark portal opened near the thrones. Stephen stepped out, with Duskarrion on his shoulder, but the portal did not disappear.
"Ah, Stephen, good," The female knight looked around, "Where is...?"
"Right here." Stephen snapped his fingers, and Hector stepped out of the portal. Geraldo immediately noticed that his friend's eyes were blank and that a faint dark aura surrounded him.
"Hector!" Geraldo exclaimed as he ran towards the college student.
"Now, now," Stephen waved the black staff slightly, and a wall of dark energy rose between Geraldo and Hector, "Don't worry. Hector was being noncompliant... I merely had to... point him down the correct path."
"What the heck are you talking about?!" Geraldo shouted. "Noncompliant? Listen to yourself! What happened to you? When we started out to find Michael... well, there was comradery between us! We were... we were friends! But now, you're acting like you're his boss!"
"Geraldo..." Stephen looked to the boy, then shot a quick glance over to the white knight, who nodded her head. "You will thank me for this later." The black staff began to glow, as did the feathers atop Duskarrion's head. A dark hand shot from the tip of the staff, and before he knew what was going on, Geraldo was under Stephen's control.
"So, did he complete the project?" The white knight asked as the wall of dark energy faded.
"Yes. Just now." Stephen replied. Hector's arm rose, and in his hand he held a Pokeball. Instead of red, the top of the Pokeball was black, with neon yellow lines running around it in intricate patterns. In the center of the front of the ball was a neon green V.
"Excellent," The white knight began to walk towards the door once again, "David should already be outside."
"Right." Stephen understood that he was to find the boy with the sword. He quickly walked over to the doors, opening them for the white knight and allowing her to exit before him. He then exited the room, followed by Geraldo and Hector.

The large group of students, teachers, and Gym Leaders landed in a small clearing just outside of Balankou City.
"This is it," Mrs. Searle announced, "Is everyone ready?" Various verbal responses as well as nodding heads indicated that the group was.
"Then let's go!" She exclaimed. The group walked down the short dirt path surrounded by trees that led from the clearing to the city. When they reached the other end of the path, however, they were shocked by what they saw.
"Wh... What the heck?!" Tess shouted. Where many buildings had once stood, there was now nothing. The Pokemon Center, the PokeMart, the Gym, and even the residential houses were all gone. The only building that still stood in the dirty, desolate wasteland was the Team Rocket Headquarters building, on the opposite side of town, ominously facing the group of trainers. Arranged in two lines in front of the entrance to the lone building were eight of the Elemental Pokemon's altars, with the ninth nowhere in sight. A huge dust cloud blew through the air, causing many of the trainers to shield their eyes. When the dust subsided, an army of Rocket grunts stood in front of the group. Behind them was the gigantic white and yellow behemoth, Regigigas. Both of its arms were outstretched, with its palms facing up. In its right palm stood Joe, and in its left was David.
"You! What did you do to Balankou City?!" Tess yelled furiously.
"We merely... made it more suitable for battle," David replied with a smirk, "But don't worry, its residents are all safe. They've been... temporarily relocated to Mizaqua City."
"You..." Tess was very upset by the destruction of her hometown.
"Where is Chey's staff?!" Paris asked demandingly.
"Why, it's right here." David reached into his sheath, and instead of pulling out his sword, he retrieved the white staff. "But, as you may have guessed, I have no intention of giving it to you until the others get here."
"That isn't up to you..." Paris responded, "Because we're going to take it by force!" As Paris spoke, all of the trainers released their Pokemon. In response, Joe waved his arm, signalling the myriad grunts to send out their Pokemon as well. The two armies dashed forward, engaging their opponents in combat.

Suddenly, after roughly ten minutes of battle, an enourmous fireball fell from the sky, landing right in the middle of the army of Rocket-owned Pokemon. The powerful flare singed even the most flame-resistant Pokemon, taking the vast majority of the army out in an instant. All eyes turned to the sky, and none were surprised to see Bobby and Elissa approaching from the northeast. Their flying Pokemon swooped down onto the battlefield, letting them off in the front lines rather than near the back where the other trainers were. The staff-wielding duo immediately entered the fray of battle, taking out countless enemy Pokemon with the power of their staves.
"Tch... they're here sooner than I expected," David muttered, "Guess I'll have to buy us some more time." He threw the six Dusk Balls into the air, revealing the other sixth behemoth titans. Once the titanic sextet had joined the battle, David himself drew his sword and placed the white staff in the king of the titans' hand. He then leaped from his perch, landing on the battlefield. He charged forward, slashing at Bobby, who blocked with a wall of fire. The battle raged on, but it was clear that the Rocket members' Pokemon were winning, if only due to their sheer numbers.
Meanwhile, behind the front lines, the staffless trainers stood helplessly, unable to help their Pokemon in any way.
"****... if only I had my staff, I could help them..." Chey thought aloud, "But how am I going to get it back?"
"That shouldn't be a problem." Came an unfamiliar voice from behind. Several trainers turned to see the Elemental Six arriving on their flying Pokemon. As Elissa was thrown back to where the other trainers stood by a powerful wind attack, she noticed the arrival of the new trainers.
"You're...!"
"Don't worry," Alex interrupted, "We're here to help. And if you don't believe me..." As Alex spoke, Ryan held up his right hand. The white glove began to glow, and the matching staff floated upwards and out of Regigigas' hand as if by magic. Ryan motioned with his hand, and the staff flew towards him. Before anyone on the opposing side could do anything to stop it, the staff landed in Ryan's hand. He walked over to Chey and gave her the staff with a nod. She nodded back, and dashed forward, joining the battle.
"****!" David cursed, angry that he had so easily lost the stolen staff. "I need to get that back, or..."
"Don't worry about it." David turned to see Stephen floating in the air above him, standing on a small, rotating disc of dark energy. He had appeared just moments ago near the back of Team Rocket's army, and had left Geraldo and Hector under Regigigas' care.
"Stephen!" Unfortunately, David was not the only one who had noticed the arrival of the wielder of the black staff. Stephen jumped into the air just in time to narrowly avoid a blast of fire from Bobby's staff.
"Well, hello to you too." Stephen threw his own Pokeballs into the air, revealing that his Houndoom had evolved into Houndevil. It had grown to over twice its previous size, and it now had three heads, all of which bore ferocious and demonic teeth and horns. Flame designs marked its feet, and it now had three tails to go along with its three heads. Overall, it matched the stereotypical description of a hellhound fairly closely.
With Stephen's Pokemon involved in the battle, it became clear very quickly that the trainers on Chey's side stood no chance. As if Stephen's overly powerful Pokemon weren't enough, Hector and Geraldo's Pokemon as well as the Pokemon that Michael had lent to Geraldo joined the battle as well.

"Crap... this isn't good." Bobby thought. After another half hour of battle, he, Elissa, and Chey had managed to take out all of the grunts' Pokemon with the power of their staves, but the majority of his team's Pokemon had been defeated as well. Chey fell back to the back lines, disengaging from the battle so that she could focus on reviving her teammates' defeated Pokemon. She managed to bring the majority of them back to consciousness, but they were easily defeated once again by the legendary titans and Stephen's Pokemon. The titans were finally felled by the power of the staves, but Chey was becoming exhausted from using her staff so much.
"Keep the ones with the staves alive," Stephen commanded his virtually unopposed Pokemon, "But I don't care what you do to the rest of them!" The powerful Pokemon marched forward, rapidly approaching the wave of trainers. Bobby and Elissa stood to defend their friends, but they, too, were becoming exhausted.
Suddenly, an orange blur streaked through the battlefield, in between the good trainers and their would-be attackers. Before they could even begin to comprehend what was going on, the oncoming Pokemon were thrown backwards by a blast of wind. The Pokemon were greatly weakened by the attack, and were left open to a follow-up attack from Bobby and Elissa, who were quick to take advantage of the oppurtunity. The other trainers' eyes turned to the place where the blur had stopped, and discovered that it was none other than Matt.
"Matt!" Jeremy exclaimed, happily surprised to see his friend.
"You and I have some unfinished business." Matt said as he turned to Stephen. In a flash, he disappeared, reappearing in front of the youth. Stephen was completely unfazed, and easily blocked the orange staff's attack.
"Where is Vampyro?" He asked as he parried Matt's onslaught of attacks. Matt merely smirked, and continued to assault the boy.
"We caught up to him," Matt explained after several minutes of silence, "Rest assured, he won't be interfering with this fight."
"****..." Stephen braced himself as a powerful attack sent him flying backwards. He landed on the ground, only a few feet away from Regigigas. Joe, Geraldo, and Hector jumped off of the titan, allowing it to move forward. The army of grunts quickly scattered, allowing the powerful legendary Pokemon to approach Bobby and Elissa.
"No sweat," Bobby said, despite his heavy breathing, "This'll be easy."

The blue knight stood in a wide hallway somewhere in the Headquarters building. She stood in front of a section of the white wall that was marked by black lines in the shape of a door, even though there was no door that could be opened. Danielle and the black and white knights rounded a corner and approached the blue.
"She's here." Danielle said upon noticing the teenage girl.
"You expected me not to be?" The blue knight's question was directed more at her fellow female knight than at Danielle.
"I just wanted to make sure." The elder knight replied. She then turned to the black knight and Danielle, who had been walking behind her. "You two should join the battle. Most of the normal Pokemon are probably unconscious or dead by now."
"Right!" Danielle agreed without hesitation. She quickly ran down the hallway from which she had come, heading for the elevators. Though the black knight's eyes could not be seen, it was obvious that he was giving the white a suspicious glance. Nevertheless, he walked away, following Danielle at a slower pace.
"And what about me?" The blue knight asked.
"I was under the impression that you did not want to fight."
"You know that's not what I meant."
"Patience. Your wish will be granted once the battle is complete. For now, stay here."
"It's not like he's going to break out or anything." The blue knight said in a tone that made it clear that her mind was wandering.
"You are correct. And that is why I'd like you to give me your dragon."
"What?"
"You said it yourself. You won't be needing it," The white knight replied, "And we will need all the power we have in this battle."
"Hmph. Whatever." The blue knight removed the single Pokeball from her belt and handed it to the white, who began to walk away immediately afterwards.
"She had better keep her end of the bargain..." The blue knight muttered once the white knight had disappeared into the elevator at the end of the hall. She leaned against the wall opposite the door-like markings and pulled out her nail file, acting as bored and preoccupied as always.

The white knight stood alone in the elevator, her eyes closed. The Pokeballs of four of the five legendary dragons rested on her waist, next to her longsword's sheath.
"Soon... very soon, their power will be mine..."
Suddenly, the elevator began to shake violently. A loud crashing sound echoed throughout the elevator shaft as a hole was blown open in the top of the elevator car. When the smoke from the blast cleared, the elevator had stopped moving, and an Infernape stood in the corner opposite the white knight.
"What is the meaning of this?!" The white knight wondered. As the fiery monkey Pokemon lunged forward, she drew her longsword, and batted it away with a quick slash. The elevator doors conveniently opened just in time for the primate to go flying out of them and land perfectly on its feet on the carpeted floor outside of the elevator. There, just outside the doors, stood a blonde-ponytailed girl in a cowgirl hat and overalls.
"... You're!" Before the white knight had time to finish her sentence, vines grabbed ahold of her arms and dragged her out of the elevator. The source of the vines was a Torterra, who stood right next to the Infernape and an Empoleon and Luxray a little ways down the hall. Once the knight was out of the elevator, the car was sent flying upwards, and a Garchomp and a Staraptor jumped out of the shaft. The car, its ropes having been cut, began to plummet back down towards the ground floor once the force of Garchomp's throw had worn off and gravity had taken control.
"Miss me?" Katie asked sarcastically as she lifted the tip of her hat slightly with her thumb.
"You... I killed you!"
"Look who's stupider than a male Primeape now!" Katie exclaimed. "While you were sending out that fancy dragon of yours, Garchomp was digging a hole in your floor and then fixing it so you wouldn't notice!"
"****... how was I outsmarted by the likes of this girl?" The white knight thought as she struggled to break free of the grass Pokemon's vines. Though her arms were tied up, she could still move her wrists, and was able to slash through the vines using her sword. She jumped backwards, landing right in front of the elevator shaft just as its doors closed.
"Attack!" Katie commanded, pointing her finger at the knight, and her Pokemon dashed forward, attempting to catch their target off-guard before she could regain her stance.

Another twenty minutes had passed, and Bobby, Elissa, Matt, and Chey had finally managed to take the seven titans and Stephen's Pokemon down while fending off Stephen, David, and the black Draconic Knight, who had only recently joined the battle. The knight had not sent out his legendary dragon; it was almost as if he was waiting for a signal from the white knight.
"****... they're better than I expected," Stephen muttered as he jumped backwards to dodge an attack from Matt, "And the other two are nowhere to be found... guess it's unavoidable." He turned to where Geraldo, Hector, Danielle, and Joe stood.
"Hector! Send it out!" He shouted. Geraldo and Hector were still under Stephen's control, as Duskarrion had retreated from the front lines before being rendered unconscious.
"Right," Hector nodded his head and raised the Pokeball with the V on it above his head, "Destroy them... Virusynth!" As the Pokeball opened, instead of the usual red light, dark energy flowed forth from it. The energy materialized into a pitch-black, almost humanoid creature with a plethora of wavy tendrils on its back that was even larger than Regigigas. In the center of where its face would be was a glowing, neon green circle. An intricate pattern of neon green lines began to spread out from the circle as the Pokemon moved forward to attack. As the lines reached its back, the tendrils grew in size and flexibility, allowing them to fly forward and attack people. The staff wielders struggled to fend off the powerful creature's attack, but they soon found themselves completely overwhelmed.
"Virusynth is the fruit of my labors," Hector explained, "The higher the emotions of the people around it, the larger and more powerful it becomes."
"And it goes without saying that emotions are running pretty high right about now." Stephen added with a laugh.
"****..." Bobby muttered.
"Now, finish them!" Hector commanded. The dark behemoth let loose another blast of tentacles, aiming one at each member of the large group.
Crack!
An enormous hemisphere of vines had sprouted from the ground, shielding the entire group and blocking Virusynth's attack.
"What?!" Before Hector or his creation had time to react, myriad icicles and leaves came from the sky, crashing into the large Pokemon. Huge vines sprouted from the ground around its feet, causing it to trip. Before it could hit the ground, ice covered it completely, freezing it in place. Dan and Tatiana fell from the sky, stabbing their staves into the back of the frozen creature and causing it to shatter. Virusynth was no more.
"You!" Hector exclaimed. He then turned to the black knight. "How... how did they do that?! You're supposed to be an expert at reading emotions! How did they defeat Virusynth so easily?!"
"Love." The black knight replied. All was silent.
"****... Virusynth must have been incomplete due to my rushing you, for it to have been defeated by such a weak emotion..."
"You're wrong!" Tatiana responded. "It wouldn't matter how strong that Pokemon was, our love would have defeated it!"
"Dan! Tatiana!" Elissa exclaimed as the vines protecting her and the other trainers receded into the ground.
"Hey, Dan said with a smile, "Now that we're here... let's kick some butt."
"Heh heh heh... you're wrong, my friend!" Stephen cackled. "Now that you're here... the real party begins!" Suddenly, columns of appropriately colored light rose from the eight altars in front of the Team Rocket Headquarters building.
"What?! How is that possible?!" Bobby wondered. "Where is...?!"
"Michael is inside the building," Stephen explained, "And is close enough for his staff's presence to be sensed by the altars. Now... rise, Elemental Pokemon!" Light energy above the altars began to materialize into spherical shapes that everyone recognized as the eight Elemental Pokemon: Sparxeno, the red master of fire; Radove, the blue mistress of water; Neonatur, the green commander of nature; Psykrypt, the purple medium of psychic energy; Argorund, the orange ruler of the ground; Helitening, the yellow controller of thunder; Hydreath, the black king of darkness; and Oxyglife, the white queen of light.
"How are we going to capture them? We don't have any Master Balls!" Chey exclaimed.
"You need not worry about capturing these weaklings," Stephen responded, "The real prize has yet to come." He disappeared, reappearing in front of the door to the Rocket building, inbetween the rows of Elemental Pokemon. He drove his staff into the ground, and the top layer of soil blew away, revealing the ninth altar.
"Now, normally, the staves must be placed in the ninth altar for Nitroneutra to be summoned, but if our friend the white knight would bother to show up..." Almost on cue, Katie came crashing through a window on a fairly low floor, landing on her side a few yards away from Stephen. The white knight jumped out of the window after her, landing perfectly on her feet next to the Elemental Pokemon, who hadn't even made an attempt to attack anyone yet.
"Ah, good, there you are." Stephen said, paying no attention to the cowgirl trainer who was probably now unconscious or dead.
"Black knight!" She called. The black knight walked over to where she and Stephen stood. "Your dragon, please." The black knight handed the white the Pokeball containing his dragon, and the white walked over to the ninth altar. She placed the five Pokeballs containing the five dragons on the altar, and it began to glow.
"I offer to you the five dragons that calmed the Pokemon of the world long ago! By the power of the eight Elemental Pokemon... Nitroneutra, awaken!" The ground began to rumble, and the ninth altar began to glow with all of the colors of the rainbow. A wave of elemental energy corresponding to each of the eight elements shot up from the altar, and once the final wave had disappeared, Nitroneutra floated above the altar.
"Now... seal away the eight elemental Pokemon with your infinite power!" Stephen commanded. Eight of the orbs surrounding Nitroneutra flew out and absorbed the matching Elemental Pokemon like a Pokeball, then flew back to Nitroneutra.
"What? Why is he doing that?" Tatiana wondered. "He just summoned it, and when it seals away the other eight Elemental Pokemon, it'll disappear, too..."
"No... it won't," Elissa said as a horrified look grew on her face, "The third time that Nitroneutra seals away the Elemental Pokemon... the great balance of the world will be summoned."
"The great balance?" Tatiana asked.
"The being of pure good and the being of pure evil... Molycure and Darxide."
"Now, accept the final sacrifice! Only once the balance of good and evil has been returned to normal will the Pokemon of the balance appear... so balance that scale once again! I offer you a being with nothing but evil in their heart... I offer you... the white knight!"
"What?!" The white knight was completely shocked by the double cross. Nitroneutra's empty orb flew forward and swallowed the knight whole as the other orbs had swallowed the Elemental Pokemon. The orb flew back to Nitroneutra, and all nine of the Pokemon's orbs began to glow.
"Yes... now that you have been satisfied, Nitroneutra, call forth your brothers! I summon you... Molycure and Darxide!"

Chapter 24
(Final Chapter)

Michael stood in the empty white room, his ear pressed against one of the walls. The walls were great insulators of electricity, but they weren't completely soundproof, and he could hear the battle going on below.
"None of this would have happened... if I hadn't trained him... if I hadn't taken over Team Rocket... if I hadn't summoned the Elemental Pokemon fifteen years ago... if I hadn't... if I hadn't..." He fell to the ground, "... Shayna..."

A young girl of about thirteen with long, blonde hair stood in the middle of a small clearing. Opposite her was the green bug-type Pokemon resembling a praying mantis, Scyther. Behind the bug Pokemon was a boy of the same age as the girl, who had short brown hair. The girl wore silky blue garments, and held an icy blue rapier in her hand. An infant girl of about three sat on a red bench under a nearby tree, a large smile on her face.
"Again!" The thirteen year old girl exclaimed.
"Shayna, we've been out here for hours... don't you think we should call it quits for the day, or at least take a break?"
"No! I have to train!" Shayna replied. "I need to become strong so that I can be a Draconic Knight like mom!"
"Why do you want to do that, anyways?" The young Michael asked. "It just sounds like a ton of hard work to me."
"But it'll be fun!" Shayna exclaimed, "Protecting the balance of the world and all of that... I can't think of anything I'd rather do!"
"You're crazy..." Michael said jokingly as he rolled his eyes, "But alright. Scyther, Slash!" The Scyther dashed forward, swinging its blade-arms. Shayna parried every attack with her rapier, and countered with a stabbing attack to the bug Pokemon's forehead.
"Wait, no! Shayna, you can't aim for its face!" Michael shouted.
"Why not?" Shayna wondered, turning to face Michael as she withdrew her sword from the Pokemon's head.
"The blood will drip into its eyes and make it see red, and it'll go berserk!" Michael then realized that it was too late, for the Pokemon was already beginning to get restless, shaking its head around furiously. "Shayna, get out of there!" Shayna turned back to face the Pokemon, and saw that it was beginning to go berserk. She quickly began to run from the Pokemon, and Michael fumbled around his belt for the Scyther's Pokeball.
"Scyther, return!" Michael threw a Pokeball at the enraged Scyther, but it merely batted the ball away with one of its arms. As it opened its now blood-red eyes, it charged towards Shayna, slashing its arms much more furiously than before. Shayna turned and continued to run backwards as she attempted to parry the enraged Pokemon's slashes. Suddenly, she tripped over a small rock, and fell to the ground.
"No!" Michael reached his arm out in vain. Scyther descended upon the girl with a quick and powerful slashing attack.
"SHAYNA!"

The gray staff crackled with electricity as Michael moved towards the side of the room that he had identified as facing the inside of the building. Painful memories continued to surge through his head, and the intensity of the electricity around the staff rose.
"Stephen... I won't let you get away with this!" He swung the staff at the wall, letting loose an incredibly powerful blast of electricity. The electricity blew through the ten-foot-thick wall, opening a hole in the other side, much to the surprise of the grunts that the blue knight had stationed there.
"What was that?" One grunt asked, looking into the hole. Before he had time to react, he was knocked onto the floor by the fast-moving staff wielder. As Michael entered the hallway, he let loose a wave of electricity that knocked all of the grunts in the immediate area to the ground. He dashed down the hall, heading for the elevators and attacking grunts with his staff as he went. As he neared the elevators, an rapier came stabbing at him from around a corner, and he barely blocked it.
"You're..."
"Michael... we both knew this day would come." The blue knight said in a serious tone. Michael drew his staff away from his opponent and stepped back.
"We're not enemies, you know. I know you're not just lined up behind the white knight's ideals. You don't want to destroy the world... in fact, you should want to save it! Why are you helping the white knight?"
"To bring her back," The blue knight answered as she charged towards Michael and stabbed at him with her rapier, "To bring back my sister... that you killed!" She let loose an onslaught of furious attacks, all of which Michael blocked almost effortlessly.
"I didn't kill her!" Michael exclaimed. "It was an accident! I want to bring her back just as much as you do!"
"No!" Tears began to pour from the blue knight's eyes. "You killed her! That's what... that's what the white knight told me!"
"The white knight lied!" Michael replied. "Look, I know that you want to bring your sister back, but you can't just believe anyone that tells you they might know how to do that! The white knight used you! She and Stephen are going to take over the world... and she has no intention of bringing Shayna back to life!"
"But..." The blue knight stopped attacking.
"Together, we can stop the blue knight! And then... we can bring her back!"
"How do I know you're not the one that's lying?!" The blue knight asked, skeptical of Michael.
"You just... have to trust me... Selena." The blue knight's eyes widened as she heard Michael say her name, for this was more than the white knight had ever done.
"Let's do this." Selena decided after a minute of silence. She turned to a nearby window and stabbed at it with her rapier, breaking it into thousands of pieces. She and Michael jumped out without hesitation, heading for the battlefield below.

"Now, Nitroneutra, I call forth your brothers! I summon you... Molycure and Darxide!" As Stephen spoke the final words, the ground began to shake much more vigorously than any earthquake that anyone had ever felt before. Nearly every trainer and Pokemon on the desolate battlefield lost their balance and fell. Nitroneutra began to ascend into the sky, stopping about ten stories above the ground. Two orbs as large as its main body appeared beside it; one of pure light and one of pure darkness. A form became visible within each of the spheres, and as the orbs faded away, the details of those forms could be made out.
From the sphere of light came a small humanoid with a black and yellow body and the proportions of a child. Its head was round, and small yellow orbs lined its forehead. The top of its skull, above the yellow sphere, was yellow, and its face was white. Two yellow circles were raised off of its yellow stomach like buttons on a jacket. The small Pokemon shone with a brilliant white light; this was Molycure, the being of pure goodness.
From the dark orb came another humanoid, with a larger and more segmented body. It had yellow legs, hands, and shoulders; it had white and black arms, neck, and torso; and its head was yellow and white. Its head was similar to Molycure's in terms of shape, but its face was slightly less round, and it wore a much darker expression. It emitted a dark aura; this was Darxide, the being of pure evil.
"Why have you called us?" Though Darxide did not open its mouth, its telepathic message could be heard by everyone in Balankou City, and its malicious tone gave away its source.
"It is time for a new world order. One in which your infinite power rules this world with an iron fist... and I, Stephen Schwartz, shall be the vessel for that power! Lend me your power, great balance of the world, and the earth shall be ours!"
"Very well," Darxide replied telepathically, "You have summoned us, so your power must indeed be great... perhaps you will be of use to me." The tall humanoid disappeared, reappearing before Stephen while its afterimage still lingered. Stephen stepped back, shocked by the Pokemon's speed. Darxide reached its arm out, grabbing Stephen's face with its right hand. As its hand began to glow, Stephen began to quiver. Meanwhile, Molycure floated in the air and did nothing, as if it could not act while Darxide did.
"Do not be afraid... is this not what you wanted? For me to control your body... and take over the world from within you!" Both bodies began to glow, and Darxide's split into millions of individual molecules. The molecules stood still in midair for a moment, then began to drift towards Stephen's body, as if they were going to fuse with the boy.
Crackle!
Bolts of lightning struck the ground all around Stephen, causing Darxide's molecules to back off. All eyes turned to the sky, and saw Michael and the blue knight flying towards the ground on Michael's Duskarrion. Darxide's molecules recombined in an instant, and the Pokemon looked to the sky as well.
"Who dares interrupt I, the very darkness within human hearts?"
"If you are the darkness within hearts, who better to defeat you than one who has conquered the darkness within their own?" Michael launched a bolt of lightning at Darxide as he hopped off of Duskarrion's back, letting the bird Pokemon fly the blue knight over to where the other trainers were located. Darxide rose its right hand, effortlessly conjuring a shield of energy to block the attack. Michael continued to launch attacks as he fell, but the evil Pokemon blocked every one of them. To further prove that blocking the attacks was an effortless task for it, Darxide turned its head to the side, looking at Stephen, who had scurried over to where his teammates stood. The dark Pokemon's glance shifted to the black knight, who had been standing calmly by himself the entire time.
"You... you are a much better host than the boy, are you not?" Darxide disappeared as Michael approached him, causing the gray staff to hit the ground instead of its intended target. The dark side of the balance reappeared in front of the black knight, and the wind generated by the Pokemon's reappearance caused the hood of the knight's cloak to blow off. Everyone that witnessed the sight was shocked to the point where they could not even attempt to speak.
"For you are not a human at all... or rather, while you once were a human, you abandoned your humanity long ago... you became one with the species of Pokemon that magnifies the darkness within human hearts... you became one with the Duskarrion."
The black knight's face was highly deformed. Duskarrion's five characteristic dark feathers extended from the back of the man's head instead of hair, and his nose and mouth had been replaced by a beak. His eyes were bright yellow like a Duskarrion's, and he had no ears. Not only were some of his characteristics inhuman, but the condition of his face made it look like he had lived well past the normal human lifespan.
"Behold... when the human soul withers away completely into the darkness, the Duskarrion will be there to feast on the carcass of the soul... and when that happens, your humanity will be lost to the darkness, and your body will become nothing more than a hollow shell... a hollow shell in which the magnificent carrion bird will lay its eggs and take control."
"You mean... this entire time..." The blue knight was one of the most shocked by the revelation of her former comrade's identity.
"Yes... since a time before this man entered the organization known as the Draconic Knights, he was one with the Duskarrion that feasted upon his soul. He is nothing but pure darkness, pure emotion... he is the perfect host." Darxide split into millions of molecules once again, and this time, no one reacted fast enough to stop it. The molecules entered the black knight's skin as they touched it, going through his cloak in the places where his skin was not revealed. The knight's body began to glow with an ominous energy, and darkness enveloped the area that immediately surrounded him.
"What... what's going on?!" Stephen wondered, completely unable to comprehend the situation.
"Do you see what you have done?!" Michael asked the boy. "Because of your selfish actions, not only has Darxide been freed, he has found a host body that will magnify his power a thousand times over!" The black knight's transformation was making a terrible howling noise, so the staff wielder was forced to yell.
"Is there any way we can stop him?!"
"Just one." Michael grimaced. He rose his staff into the air, and he and Stephen disappeared in a flash of lightning. They reappeared on the other side of the desolate battlefield, where the other staff wielders stood.
"I'm going to need you all to trust me once more!" He shouted.
"Of course!" Bobby responded. "You know you've earned our trust!"
"You guys... we're going to try to destroy Nitroneutra! Chey, Stephen... it's up to you to control Molycure if we fail!"
"How do we do that?!" Chey asked.
"Molycure is the opposite of Darxide! Its power comes from positive emotions, and the good within people's hearts!"
"But...!" Before Chey could finish her statement, the other six staff wielders had disappeared, leaving she and Stephen alone.
"Chey... this is all my fault," Stephen said in a surprisingly calm voice considering the situation, "If I hadn't been such a jerk to you..."
"Stephen, it isn't your fault!" Chey replied. "I've regretted breaking up with you since the moment I did it! I know that no relationship is perfect, and... I'd really like to give ours another try."
Stephen was speechless. Neither one of them needed to say anything. They stared into eachother's eyes for a moment, then nodded their heads, knowing what they had to do. Stephen waved his staff, opening a dark portal for them to step through. They reappeared by Molycure's side, floating on a disc of light energy that Chey had created. Up close, it became obvious that Molycure was sleeping.
"Molycure! You have to wake up!" Chey exclaimed, shaking the child-like Pokemon lightly.
"... No..." The Pokemon responded with an faint but audible telepathic message. It sounded like a scared child.
"We need you, Molycure! Why won't you wake up?!"
"If I do... he'll... he'll be mad, and..."
"Who will be mad? Darxide?" Stephen asked. "You don't have to worry about him! You're just as strong as he is! In fact... you can help us defeat him!"
"But... I'm not supposed to defeat him, because then there won't be any balance, and..."
"There won't be any balance if you don't stop him!" Chey exclaimed. "He's trying to take over the world, and you need to stop him so that the balance of the world can be maintained!"
"He's... he's too powerful... there's too much hate..."
"No..." Stephen thought about his words carefully before he said them, "There will always be hate in the world, but there will always be love, too. And here, today... our love can overpower his hatred!" Stephen reached out both of his hands, grabbing hold of Chey's in the air above where Molycure floated.
"Chey... I love you."
"Stephen... I love you too." As Chey spoke, the couple's hands began to glow along with Molycure's body.
"Yes!" Michael noticed what Chey and Stephen had done, even though he, the other staff wielders, and the blue knight were quite a ways away. He turned to all of his friends, and they had begun to glow, too, as they announced the names of their loved ones.
"Tatiana..."
"Dan..."
"Bobby..."
"Elissa..."
"Bethany..."
The trainers on the battlefield below joined in, adding their love into the chorus that the staff wielders had started. Molycure floated upward, glowing more and more intensely with each declaration of love.
"... Shayna." Michael and Selena concluded the list, saying the same name at the same time. Molycure exploded in a burst of light that enveloped all of Balankou City for an instant.
"What?!" The black knight, who was now completely controlled by Darxide, turned to the sky to see Molycure flying towards him in a bullet of light.
"The balance of good and evil... I won't let you disturb it!" Neither Darxide nor his host's body could react in time to do anything about the incoming Pokemon, and the two forces collided. An even brighter light than before filled the area, and everyone was forced to cover their eyes.

When the light subsided, Balankou City had been restored to normal. All of the buildings were back, the altars were gone, and the city's residents lined the streets. The Team Rocket grunts were presumeably inside the headquarters building, but everyone else that had witnessed the battle (Except, of course, for the black and white knights) stood on the roof of a large building. Everyone's injuries had been healed, and their Pokemon had returned to their Pokeballs. David and Hector were hardly surprised to find the legendary titans and Virusynth had disappeared along with the Pokeballs that they had been captured in. What most of the trainers were surprised to find, however, was that Brandon was no longer in a wheelchair.
"You... you can walk!" Paris exclaimed.
"I... I can!" Brandon was equally shocked.
"It must have been Molycure's doing." Chey interjected.

Meanwhile, Procter and the other teachers of Olemenun Academy stood beside David, Geraldo, and Hector.
"Mr. Sabel... Mr. Lucan..." Procter stroked his chin.
"Yeah?" David asked.
"I think, given recent events... that Olemenun Academy can afford to reinstate the two of you."
"You mean... we're not expelled?" Hector responded.
"Assuming you can be on your best behavior for the rest of your time at Olemenun Academy... no. No you are not."
"No way! Dude, that's awesome!" Geraldo shouted, happy for his friend. David merely nodded his head respectfully, which was much more than he had ever done for the faculty before.

"Looks like its finally over, for real this time." Bobby said as he looked out to the horizon. He stood alongside Dan, Elissa, Matt, and Tatiana.
"What do you mean?" Elissa asked.
"Didn't you notice? The staves are gone," Bobby answered, "When we defeated Jacob XII fifteen years ago, the staves returned to us after the battle. But now... they're gone."
"Hey, you're right!" Tatiana exclaimed.
"What does that mean?" Dan wondered.
"It means that this is all over, and the Elemental Pokemon are never coming back." He turned to Matt, who was looking into the distance in another direction. "Hey, what are you looking at?"
"Look!" Matt pointed in the direction that he was looking. Two humanoid figures with wings were approaching rapidly, and everyone immediately recognized who they were.
"Nosfrostu!" Tatiana shouted, waving her hands.
"Hey!" Nosfrostu responded as she and Vampyro landed on the rooftop. The trainers immediately noticed a change in Vampyro; he no longer gave off an evil aura. Instead, he seemed normal, even pleasant.
"Vampyro... is he...?" Matt wondered.
"He's back to normal now." Nosfrostu answered.
"Nosfrostu, we have to fill you in on what happened!" Elissa exclaimed. Apparently, the blue and purple staff holders had bonded with the female vampire a little bit while they traveled together, though this was the first time that the men had been made aware of it.
"Matthew... I'm very sorry about..." Vampyro began to apologize.
"It's... it's okay," Matt interrupted him, "It... wasn't your fault." The male vampire and the former wielder of the orange staff moved to the side to have their own conversation.
"Hey... who's that?" Dan asked Bobby, pointing to a different corner of the building. In the corner stood Michael, conversing with the blue knight and another female about Michael's age. She had long, flowing blonde hair, and was dressed in blue silk garments similar to the blue knight's. Bobby just smiled, saying nothing to answer Dan's question. He looked up to the sky, admiring the beautiful sunset.
"And so, the tale of the Elemental Pokemon and the eight staves of power comes to a close," He said to himself after several minutes, "I'm sure that Elissa will record it into the history books, so that many years from now, if the world is in a time of turmoil or if the world is in a time of peace... people can look back and remember what happened... they can remember... the Elemental Legacies."

Note: Yeah yeah yeah, walls of text, blahblahblah. Like I said before, I decided to stick with the same paragraphing style that I've been using since EL.
Note: Molycure and Darxide can be found on Esepibe's deviantart; esepibe.deviantart.com
Note: Okay, if this thing was made into a movie, the scene where Molycure awakens would DEFINITELY have "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback playing the background. Like, seriously, that song is just too perfect for it.
Note: Yes, I know it has a corny ending. Most movies/books do. Deal with it.
Note: I prolly forgot to tie up some loose ends in the final chapter, knowing me... if you guys can think of any, let me know.

Epilogue

Fifteen more years passed, and the children and adults involved in the fiasco with the staves moved on with their lives.
Both Bobby and Elissa retired from their jobs as the league champion and head professor of Olemenun respectively. They now reside in Michael's old mansion in the mountains, which Team Rocket paid for the refurbishing and redecorating of.
After completing his education at Olemenun Academy, Drake challenged the Elite 4 once more, and became the new league champion in Bobby's stead.
Jeremy became the new professor of Olemenun, taking Elissa's place as she had taken Professor Pine's.
Professor Pine himself now spends his days in a retirement home along with Eric (Dan's father) and Matt Catalano.
Dan, Tatiana, Sebastian, Mr. Lawson, and Mr. Pennington are still department heads at Olemenun Academy. A few new additions to the staff have been made, as well; David is now the teacher of several battle-oriented classes, Hector is the second in command of the technology department, Geraldo is head of the foreign language department, and Nicholas and Rachael work in the Social Studies and Law department.
Procter retired from his position as principal, handing over the title to Mrs. Searle.
Troy, Joe, and the rest of Troy's old flunkies became grunts of Team Rocket, which has returned to its status as a benefactor to the community.
The Elemental Six are now Top admins of Team Rocket once again.
The eight Gym Leaders and the Elite 4 (Excluding Bobby) have retained their positions.
Danielle was banished from the Poisawa Town Gym by Paris, and was never heard from again.
Katie returned to the region of Sinnoh. She is now Sinnoh's league champion.
Chris and Emily were married, and have been touring the world ever since.
Vampyro and Nosfrostu returned to Skuakko Island along with Matt. The three of them now head the Sevorg Research Institute, which has become world-renown for its production of unusual Pokeballs.
New Draconic Knights were not appointed to replace the deceased, and the weapons and traditional clothes of all five knights were donated to a local museum. Their secret room in Team Rocket Headquarters was replaced by a beauty salon for the female members of Team Rocket.
Team Rocket was left in the capable hands of Selena, who suddenly became much more enthusiastic about everything after the incidents that befell.
Stephen and Chey's relationship continued to be rocky for a few years after the incidents, but eventually became stable thanks to the therapy that Stephen began going to regularly. They are now married, and live in a beautiful mansion in Balankou City. While neither of them are officially registered as members of Team Rocket, they are often referenced as well-trusted advisors to Selena.
As for Michael and Shayna... well, to this very day, Michael continues to do what he loves most: fight. The international battle center, centrally located in the ocean between the major regions, was founded by Michael as a place where trainers from all over the world can come to face challengers of all levels. Michael himself will battle anyone that manages to defeat the one hundred trainers that he has declared "the best of the best" - and, while several trainers have achieved the right to battle Michael, not one has ever scored a single knockout against his Pokemon.
