Man, I can't believe I missed our 6 year anniversary. I really have to come here more often. In other news i wouldn't be adverse to starting a new Elyrion style RP in December when more persons are free. In the mean time, I'll try and post something in Elyrion if no one has any objections to it.

It seems as though, for better or for worse.... I'm Back I had Kendra on my mind when I was replying for some odd reason...>_>;

I'd be more interested in a new story, to be honest.

I have plenty of ideas, but that doesn't mean I can execute them, hah. To put it bluntly, I'm like George Lucas. Lots of ideas, but they're usually shit when I implement them without someone else to tell me what's bad (see: Episode 1-3). In any case, I've always got a love for a modern fantasy adventure. I'm kinda over the medieval thing, unless it's medieval with futuristic elements (or steampunk, like FF6).

Modern fantasy = Fantasy + technological elements?

Also, let's hear the idea that you wanna implement into an RP the most.

My mind's kinda crammed full of schoolwork at the moment, so I can't give a good reply.
Modern fantasy has two major categories, in my opinion:
1. Ordinary humans know about magic. The fantasy element is played largely here. You can have creatures of different species living together in a city: Elves, dwarves, catgirls, and the like. Much like FF11, 12 and 14. There is no need to hide magic here. This is what your definition from the above post is: Fantasy + technological elements from modern times. Magic is integrated into society and used in your daily lives. I tend to find it a little uninspired when I try to roleplay with it, although it allows for more freedom and possibilities, which is good for a roleplay, since you can also allow medieval elements into the story, like kingdoms and knights and what not. And I do want/like to use an elf or a catgirl for my roleplays.
2. Magic is exclusive to a select few (a few hundred thousand folks around the world, maybe). Magic is tightly controlled to avoid being revealed to the general public, maybe there's an association set up for this sort of thing to ensure ordinary people remain ignorant. The Fate series (Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night) and Tsukihime employ this, and it's one of my preferred genres when writing alone, or with just one other person, since I can control all the elements of the story. You can still have creatures of different species. They probably hide their identity with some sort of glamor magic in real life, then reveal themselves when the situation allows for it. I find such roleplays to be more restricting and requires a lot more thought when writing to avoid breaking the rules of the established story. It's not ideal for roleplaying in a group when everything is free-roam.
All in all, I think the first choice is better. More freedom. Elyrion follows the first option, but it's a medieval story, not a modern one. Like I said, I'm a big fan of modern stories. Dawn/Dusk is a pretty big proof of that, along with what other stories I've written in the fanfiction section.

You once made a RP called Dies Irae. How 'bout doing something in that vein?

Uh, I don't remember what that RP's about anymore. Not one of my more memorable works.

I mean, the setting for that RP can be used. Modern/futuristic world where magic/magical beings also exist. Like you said there.

Ah. I'm just saying that I have virtually no idea what that RP is by now, so I can't draw any conclusions from it.

It's fine. Plus, we can talk about RP settings and stuff after we're done with exams and s#it, eh.
