Well, you see - I'm an avid Pkmn collector. If I had to use any Trainer term to describe myself though, it would be a Themed Trainer. Which means that rather than training to have the most powerful team around, I prefer to have ones which are themed in different ways. My favourite team is an Ancients Team, which is as follows:
Aerodactyl
Tyranitar
Torterra
Omastar
Aggron
Feraligatr
All of them are Dinosaur or ancient animal look-alikes, and therefore could be considered Ancients. Plus, you can interchange between a fair number of other non-legendaries too.
I also am the sole owner of a Farmer team, by which I mean one which is battle-prepped and all the members are around the same level (almost all of them being at Lvl 50):
Blaziken (Chicken)
Grumpig (Pig)
Miltank (Cow)
Ampharos (Sheep)
Mightyena (Sheepdog)
And I'm currently missing a Tauros for my Bull.
A third theme that Aqua Whiscash and myself worked on today was a Variable team, which can change due to different effects. It has as follows:
Smeargle
Kecleon
Ditto
Castform
Eevee
Thing is, these teams aren't the most powerful on the planet. They would be used for fun, nothing more, nothing less. Fish-based teams are cool, as Fish-Pkmn aren't often used.
The point is, not many people use Pkmn like that. Everyone goes for either "the coolest", which are always a matter of opinion, or your pure power bases for the top teams. There aren't many fun teams. So I feel the concept needs introducing. Fire away people! Let your imaginations run wild, and come up with odd teams!

I always liked arranging teams for gym leader purposes since that's what I've always felt I would want to do if I were in a Pokemon game. My personal favorite is Team Ground n' Pound, a rough and tough team comprised of rock, ground, steel and fighting types.

These are p. creative. Once I start actually catching stuff in Platinum (I have like 300 seen 50 caught), I'll make some themed teams.
(Also a wolf as a sheepdog lolwut?)

I also like to imagine teams for special purposes in organizations like Team Rocket/all the other Teams in Pokemon. Like a stealth recon team consisting of pokemon like Golbat, Gengar, Weavile, etc. A "tankbuster" team with pokemon like T-tar, Dragonite, Salamence, etc.

Hmm... I was about to suggest a fairy theme, but I could only think of Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Celebi, Jirachi and Clefairy/able... no fairies...
