~STORY~

Many millennia ago, in a land of sword and magic, there was once a vast and powerful empire headed by
a truly beloved emperor. The imperial domain of Emperor Cyrus was called Amere and was named such long before Emperor Cyrus came to power. Amere stretches far and wide across the planet and it was long rumored that there is nothing but vast oceans past the borders of the land. However this rumor was put to rest when strangers from the north made landing at the northern shores of Amere. These strangers brought with them many strange texts, an unknown language and other small eccentricities the citizens of Amere had never seen before. It wasn’t long before the foreigners were escorted by Royal Guard to Cyrus’ grand palace where he and his circle of advisors could determine what brought these new people to his land. Judging by their seemingly peaceful demeanor many who talked with them were sure their intentions were good and that this was the beginning of a new age for their lands.

However, after the formalities were finished and discussions began between Cyrus and his advisors and the strangers, they quickly revealed what they were here for. These strangers were known as the Miraloka, translating to “miracle” in the Amere tongue and served a deity called Seraphi, which translated to “god”. The Miraloka had come to Amere to convert the lost souls of the land to their religion so that Seraphi might have mercy on their souls in the afterlife. But Cyrus had to inform them that while they were free to preach their religion peacefully in the land, he refused to force a specific religion on his empire. The empire was comprised of several countries that Cyrus allowed to have free religious practice as long as they conflicted with none of the other laws. This greatly upset the Miraloka converters; so much to the point that they began demanding Cyrus command his people to convert to their Miracle religion or else be destroyed by the mighty hand of Seraphi.

Emperor Cyrus stood his ground though, and refused the demands of the foreigners despite their fits of anger and promises of eternal damnation if they did not convert. Things quickly got out of hand when one of the religious fanatics revealed a hidden dagger and attempted to draw blood from the Emperor. His plan was foiled though by one of the Royal Guard catching him with an arrow to the chest. Blood had been drawn, but it was the blood of the Miraloka. The diplomats attempted to flee when the Royal Guard moved in to apprehend them but by using some strange and powerful magic they were able to wrap the armed men in a stasis field, allowing them to slip away. By the time Cyrus’ men had caught up the Miraloka they were already aboard their ship, shouting threats of Seraphi’s omnipotent armies. They also swore they would return, and when they returned they would show them the error of their ways.

Many ships of the Imperial Fleet were sent out to locate the land of the Miraloka but none were heard from again. Cyrus was unsure whether or not to inform his people of a threat of invasion or to ready his nations for war. It had been several weeks since the diplomatic incident and there had been nothing close of an invasion. Perhaps they were empty threats, but there was no way to be sure. Cyrus had a small number of divisions prepare for war and even sent some additional forces to the northern sea bordering nations just to be safe. Rumors spread through the land of what was going on but none of the ordinary citizens were aware of what was soon to be upon them.

~PLOT~
Anyone signing up for this roleplay will be able to do virtually anything they want within certain guidelines of course. The main story arc will revolve around a group of individuals eventually being swept up in the imminent war on the horizon. However there are tons of things to do in the land of Amere outside of the main quest. You may just want to be a simple farmer and work your own land, trying to work your way to the top. You may want to be wise teacher at one of the academies in the land. You could be a pirate plundering ships on the Eastern Sea. The world is nearly entirely open and free to you to do as you wish but please use common sense.

======================================================================================================

~SETTING~
-> Amure: The central city state, named closely after the land it was founded in. While it is technically the domain of the humans, many people of different races call it home. It is a prosperous place filled with great stone buildings and outlying farms. There is not much wilderness inside the walls of Amure. It is the central core for all political, economic and military decisions. While the most populated city in Amere, Amure has a great standard of living for nearly all of its citizens. The Imperial Palace, located in the center of the city, is the single greatest architectural achievement in the history of the world. Also located inside Amure is the grand Magic Academy. This is where potentially powerful magi go to hone their skills at typically young ages.

-> Titan Mountain Range: This massive mountain range stretches all the way across the northern border of Amure. It is only a few miles from Amure. Many Dwarves make a living by mining minerals and precious jewels from the mountains and selling them to merchants from Amure. The Gryphons also have many mountain villages set up along the range. Only the northern and tallest peaks are coated in white powder all year round but almost all of the mountains receive snow in the winter. There have also been dragon sightings in the area over the years.
--> Tekkatu Village: While most of the villages in the mountains are small and relatively obscure, Tekkatu is a central point of Gryphon and Dwarven culture and serves as a great trading post as well. The houses here are  built from varying materials such as wood and straw but some of the older homes are carved right into the mountains themselves.

--> New Iceshine: New Iceshine is a small city built upon the ruins of a lost city located high in the snowy peaks of the Titan Mountain Range. Mostly used as a rest stop for explorers searching the lost ruins, New Iceshine is a very mysterious city that, while seemingly mediocre on the surface, has deep secrets beneath.

--> Lake of Serenity: This lake is a large body of fresh and brackish water located in the center of the mountain range in a deep valley. The water flows from the cool, Northern Sea and empties into the lake which then flows further south out of the mountain range down Crescent Falls and forms the base for the River of Light.

--> River of Light: The River of Light is a large river that runs from the Northern Sea to the Southern Sea. It is located to the east of Amure and separates the surrounding grasslands from the dense Elven forest.

-> Waterstone City: Waterstone is a large port city founded on the shores of the Northern Sea. As with most port cities, many people from all different races populate this city. Watersone is also home to Fort Blueclaw, a newly constructed fortress to aid in defending against any possible “unwelcome guests”. And while never totally frozen, large slabs of ice can often be seen floating along the waters during the cold winter days.

-> Basol: Basol is a medium sized country roughly ten miles south of Amure, linked to the central country by a series of roads crossing lush grasslands. Basol is a great place for trade because it is located between Amure and the sea faring villages of the Southern Sea. The Basol is like a second home for many humans and has more humans per capita than Amure.

-> Halivale: Halivale is an average sized city and is home to the Felani. This city is where hunts in the Red Desert are arranged and monitored. It is located several miles west of Amure and several miles east of the beginnings of the Red Desert.

-> Elven Forest: This forest is a thick jungle of foliage surrounding the primary Elven city of Windytol. The forest is home to some of the most magnificent animals in Amere as well as amazing plant life. While part of the Empire, The elves have their own civilization inside this forest.
--> Windytol: This is the main Elven city. It is home to the Elven Academy which trains its most prestigious soldiers and leaders. Windytol also boasts amazing architecture and has the clearest and purest water in Amere. A few members of the Felani make their home inside the Elven forest as well; they seem to share a strong bond with the Elves for some reason.

--> Timber Valley: Timber Valley is a short pathway that joins the eastern tip of the Titan Mountain Range with the Elven Forest. Despite the thickness of the forest, the trees here in the valley are the tallest and thickest in the land.

--> Bloomingrove: Bloomingrove is a small town located just outside the edges of the Elven forest. Bloomingrove’s main attraction is that it serves as a great place to shop for medicinal herbs found only in the Elven forest. It is controlled by the Elves and only they have power to regulate the town’s commerce.

-> Poundtol: Poundtol is an eastern port city and boasts the greatest fishing and fisherman in Amere. Many legends are told of giant fish and great fishermen around this area. People come from all over to behold the sights and wonders of the annual fishing competition held here. Recently the Elves have been experimenting with a new method of fishing with the bows called spearfishing.
--> Island Trio: This bundle of three small islands dot the coast of Poundtol. One is controlled strictly by the Elves as they had laid claim to it for some reason long ago. The other two islands unfortunately serve as hideaways for some notorious pirates and thieves. They kill without question those who enter their domain unwelcome but that does not keep everyone away from trying to find some of their legendary treasure.

-> Gandrickshine: This is the central home of the Massi people. It is a small city state but is the primary weapons production city in Amere. The other thing Gandrickshine is famous for is its enormous battle site, the Battle Gauntlet. Gandrickshine is roughly the same size as Basol and it is located five miles outside the dense forest of the Elven territories and eleven miles east of Basol and seven miles west of the eastern shores. A small tree line on the eastern half of the city shields it from the winds of the not-so-far-away ocean.
--> Battle Gauntlet: This is an enormous coliseum erected centuries ago when the Massi were still a people. Though no longer holding fights to the death, the Gauntlet still holds several dozen contests each year. The most famous of these contests being the Grand Massi, a large tournament open only to those warriors recognized by the higher ups in the land.

-> Applehill: Applehill is a small city to the west of Basol and it has a reputation for growing amazing fruits and vegetables in the surrounding fields.

-> Sidwarren: Sidwarren is another average sized city west of Applehill. Here is located another one of Amere’s great academies: the Grand Dojo. The Dojo is where many great martial artists train their apprentices to learn their secret techniques and become great fighters. Almost every discipline can be studied here. It is just a few miles southeast of Halivale.

-> Jutesbere: Jutesebere is the final port city and is located near the Southern Sea. Jutesebere is less of a single city and more of a collection of small towns all based around the central port. It is home to the largest ship in the Imperial Fleet, the Sojourn. Jutesebere is also the leader in ship production, hiring many strong workers to bring wood from all over Amere, the strongest of which comes from Timber Valley and is reserved only for the most expensive and important ships. Lastly, on the eastern  tip of Jutesebere is the Azure Delta.
--> The Azure Delta is a large oasis and popular swimming and relaxation location for many citizens. It is where the River of Light empties out into the Southern Sea.

-> Red Desert: The Red Desert is a great desert whose sand turns a brilliant red color during the twilight hours. The desert serves as an effective buffer between most of the civilizes cities of Amure and the Desolate Wastelands. It stretches for many miles in all directions but there are a few small oasis’ dotting the area and it is also home to a small amount of nomadic peoples.

-> Hammercaster: Hammercaster is a strong, well fortified stone city located in the western section of the Red Desert. It boasts the most prestigious military academy in the land and is the home of many legendary warriors and a few Battle Gauntlet winners. Hammercaster is also a great place to trade and see rare creatures found only in the Red Desert. A deep, deep well in the center of the city provides water for everyone.
--> Fort Fallengrove: Fort Fallengrove is the primary military fortress guarding the rest of Amere from the inhabitants of the Desolate Wastelands to the far west. It is divided into two parts, one stationed on the east of the deep canyon and one to the west. They are linked by a great stone bridge which is always under careful watch.

--> Diamond Canyon: Despite the regal name, this canyon is the first indicator of the horrid conditions of the wastelands to the west. It is hundreds of meters deep and nearly one hundred meters across. Down below is the River of Darkness, the only indicator of the western seas visible without crossing into the wastelands.

-> Desolate Wastelands: The Wastelands are nothing more than a barren and forsaken land. Only the most horrible and dark creatures can possibly live for long in this hellish place. It is widely believed that there is nothing but open flatlands stretching for hundreds of miles but there have been stories told of the Black Cloud constructing something slightly resembling a collection of small towns. But this is only myth of course.

~RACES~
-Human: They are well-known for their libraries and stone arcitecture. They have an elaborate caste system but the state of living is usually satisfactory even for the lowest tier. They are also the most abundant race in the land of Amere. They are legendary for their armies and overall skill in battle. They tend to serve a peaceful God who teaches love and forgiveness but also to peacefully spread the word of his eternal life.

-Elves: The race of elves. They are pale or black skinned and have light-colored eyes. They exist in symbiosis with the other species. They are noted for their tacticians and archers. They are famous for their nutritious food and seminaries. They worship a patriarchal pantheon of gods and goddesses. The god of light is especially important to them. Elves live longer than any other race, some of their elders being nearly 1,000 years old. They manage to control an island that is the site of a lost civilization. Their history conceals a great secret.

-Gryphons: The race of evolved Griffins. They are genderless, and are able to reproduce on their own by laying eggs. They are famous for their treasure-vaults and being the only race capable of flight.. They are a magical mutation of another race and appear as feathered humans with varying colors. As a people, they are generally good at navigation. They are noted for their skill with polearms. They practice some forms of spiritual discipline, but some would debate if it is an actual religion. Their government is a theocracy that is functional. Their lifespan is usually almost 150 years.

-Massi: The cumbersome race. They have spines instead of hair. They have red eyes. They shed their integument as they grow. Their lifespan is around 100 years. They are well-known for their blacksmithing, including weapons and armor, and ships. They are very literal. They have no country of their own, but work for other races. They tend to avoid any religious views and can sometimes be condescending to others on the matter. Their skin color varies from deep red to a golden yellow.

-Dwarves: The race of dwarves. They have incredible strength. They take naturally to caves. They are exceptionally good melee combat. They barely control an underground state that is known as a home for monstrous creatures. The god that created them in turn abandoned them. The Dwarves live to be roughly 500 years old.

-Felani: The Felani are a cat like people famous for their hunting and assassins. They vary in size and appearance much like their animal counterparts. The Felani have lifespans similar to humans. Once slaves, they overthrew their masters and rule their realm now. They have no defining religion, but gladly adapt those of others, primarily the humans.

-Dragon Riders: The rarest and most introverted of the civilized species. The Dragon Riders are the only people to be able to train and use dragons for their own purposes. While their history is unknown even to them, they are believed to be founded by a group of humans who defected from the ruling government of the time. They look just like humans but have distinct tattoos and markings all over their body. The tattoos signify their honor gained in battle. Their clothing is somewhat primitive by modern standards. No one is sure how old Dragon Riders live to be but most believe they live as long as most humans, perhaps slightly longer.

-Trolls/Orcs: Amere of course is not without its hazards. The trolls and orcs are dangerous beasts that occupy the Desolate Wastelands. Orcs are more humanoid in body shape and are smarter while Trolls are much larger, stronger and savage.

-Black Cloud: While not an actual race of people and more of a faction of rejected individuals, the Black Cloud are exiles of the civilized races of Amere being punished for heinous crimes sent to live out the rest of their lives in the Desolate Wastelands.

Demons: While only a myth, many of the races of Amere have their own interpretation of Demons. Humans, Felani, Elves and Gryphons believe Demons are evil beings on a higher plane that work to test the mortals against their own temptations. The Massi and Dwarves however believe instead demons are only what you perceive them to be.

Name: Ryden Hetrasaas Makoor

Age: 1,009 (appears mid twenties)

Gender: Male

Race: Halfling (Human/Demon)

Occupation: Mercenary

Appearance: If there were blue prints for the perfect body of a great warrior, they would be modeled after Ryden Makoor. The half-demon stands at 6’2” and weighs in at a toned 212 lbs. His face appears to have been chiseled from stone, not one unattractive mark able to be found. Ryden’s thin, shining white hair falls down past his shoulder blades and halfway to the small of his back. Ryden ties his hair in a ponytail style every so often. His bangs barely touch his eyes, they being held from falling completely over his face by a black headband. Ryden’s emerald eyes have such a glow about them it is almost impossible to not detect something extraordinary about the half-demon.

His armor, draped over his black and grey shirt and black pants, is a dirty silver color, being worn from centuries of use. The armor wasn’t very much to look at, just a small chest piece with a triangular center, one corner pointing down towards his naval and the other two reaching up to join the two metallic pauldrons. On his forearms were smooth vambraces with large emerald stones encrusted in them. Underneath the vambraces were grey gloves, an elaborate emblem of golden yarn woven into the back of each glove.

There was nothing much on the man’s legs either, just tall boots with metal encasing them and extending upwards to his knees, ending in a rounded off point. On his waist were two white belts; one being strapped perfectly around the man’s waist and widened as it reached around his lower back, holding tightly to the faulds protecting his waist and upper thighs while the other, being tied much looser and virtually hanging off of his hips, held various items stored in tiny pouches along the leather belt. Lastly there is the long, thin piece of cloth wrapped around his neck. The piece of cloth fell down to his knees and seemed to be sown into the leather padding of his armor.

All over his upper body, but out of plain sight, Ryden bares several tattoos. They appear to be chiseled crescent moons and they are tattooed on both sides of his chest, along his lats, his biceps, shoulders, and forearms.

Personality: Once a jovial and happy go lucky boy, the countless deaths he has seen in his millennial lifetime has turned his heart to stone. Ryden is as emotionless as the cold steel used in the crafting of his swords. He never weeps and never rejoices, he does not smile yet he does not frown; his demeanor never changing no matter the circumstances, his stale voice never hinting of any feeling. The only thing Ryden knows is the inevitable loss of life that comes to those he loves and so he has erected mountains around his heart to shield it from being broke more times than any man would care to keep track of.

Gear/Weapons of choice: As his primary weapons, Ryden wields two elaborate blades infused with his demonic magics. The weapons are identical to the last detail; they are curved slightly to resemble an “S” from the tip of the blade to the pommel. The two swords are 35” total length with a 24” stainless steel blade. The top section of the handle is crafted from gold and has intricate runes crafted into the design. The grip of the handle is tightly bound in fine black leather with the pommel following the same pattern as the top of the handle.

Ryden's secondary sword is actually his most powerful physical weapon. The blade is an elegantly simple longsword and is just over 57" in overall length. The handle is 8" in length and is crafted from wood from the trees of the Elven forest. Forged into curved points, the metal hilt is marvelously crafted to remain functional but also maintain an intimidation look. In the center of the hilt is a precious stone that glows an eerie violet color. The pommel follows the same basic pattern of the curved points and features a smaller stone. The slender blade extends up and widens out at the end to form a small bulge at the endpoint.

Abilities: Being the son of a demon possessed woman and an Aztarin male, Ryden possesses many powerful abilities. His demon-infused soul grants him control over powerful black magic arts. The half-demon most commonly translates this magic into magical orbs that cause explosive damage, being able to sense other magical auras, summoning his blades even and control over the fires burning throughout the land. Of course his demon heritage does not only benefit him in the realm of magic, for it greatly enhances his physical attributes. Ryden has superhuman strength, reflexes, endurance and stamina.

On the flipside of his bloodline, Ryden is a near master swordsman from the years of training undertaken from elite members of the Aztarin tribe. His weapons are even crafted from the Elotheen tribe.

History: Just over millennia ago, long before the Empire of Cyrus was established and many strange tribes roamed the land, a beautiful Zanthis female was possessed by a seductive demon soul. The woman used her alluring beauty to cause an elite Aztarin warrior to fall deeply in love with her. The two saw noting more in their actions than mischievous lust but little did they know that their actions would bring about a being of immense power. Eventually the Elotheen couple begat a son, a child of mixed Elotheen blood and something else; Ryden Hetrasaas Makoor was born half-demon and half-Elotheen, hailing from the Aztarin tribe. When he was an infant it was not so evident that the boy was of supernatural descent, but as he grew into adolescence and began to practice the art of combat as most Aztarin males did, it was apparent he was more than normal. Ryden showed exceptional skill in swordsmanship and physical ability, but the one thing that confirmed his demonic heritage, black magic

Ryden’s black magic first manifested itself when he managed to manipulate the fires from the torches that lit his home. His warrior father was in awe at what his son could do, and immediately took him to the elders of the tribe. There Ryden was bestowed with a purity stone to protect the boy from frightened peoples. From that night on the half-demon was viewed differently by his peers; whenever he would do something great, say triumph in a match or bring home a bountiful feast, the other boys his age claimed it to be only because he was a demon child. They mocked and scolded him, partly due to their own hidden fears but also because they were envious of Ryden.

Fortunately for them, though, Ryden also inherited his mother’s kind spirit; the demon was not the only thing to pass something along to the babe that night. He never once instigated any type of conflict and always viewed violence as a last resort. Of course, this was only to last as long as those around him would. When he reached his mid-twenties, Ryden noticed a strange phenomenon, he had stopped aging. Four years passed by and Ryden’s reflection in his mirror did not alter even the slightest bit. The half-demon then came to face his greatest tragedy; he was going to live for many years past the people around him.
Just as predicted, many people from his childhood began to pass away as Ryden never changed. Even his own father and mother, the people whom had taught him everything he knew, the ones who had raised him with such love, passed away. They were violently murdered one night by some sort of strange beast and this is what really began Ryden's transformation into his now jaded state. This would only be the first of countless cycles of this pattern.

Over the centuries the once kind and optimistic Ryden evolved into a jaded and quiet warrior. The half-demon still maintained the good spirit inherited from his mother, however Ryden knew the only way to protect his heart from breaking a million times over was to construct walls that shielded him from feeling any true emotions. The half-demon has fought in countless wars, gathered many allies and even more enemies. Ryden, at least in his early years, even fell in love more than once. Ryden walks the realm of Amere only hoping to one day find something to bring fruition to his life and allow him to join so many of those he had watched die throughout his life. He is now nothing more than a mercenary for wealthy kings, a soldier for hire.

Other:
-The Elotheen and Aztarin are no longer existing in Amere
-Ryden will be a full time quest character
-From his hundreds of years of warfare, he has mastered almost every fighting style he has come into contact with

Name: Known as "Astra" (officially Exile 5360)
Age: 464
Gender: Male
Race: Elf (Black Cloud)
Occupation: Shaman

Appearance: While the harsh environment of the Desolate Wastelands has whittled most men down to nothing, Astra remains as robust as the day he was exiled. In many ways, his body is typical of a Black Elf. He stands about six feet tall and keeps a slender figure, and his facial features are somewhat pointed. His skin is dark grey, a couple shades lighter than his race's usual ebony. Conversely, Astra exhibits complete baldness, a very rare trait amongst elves. He is also blind; he lost his eyes many years ago, and has since replaced them with a pair of golden spheres. In spite of his blindness, the shaman walks with confidence; he believes the Gods will not injure a man before he has fulfilled his destiny.

Clothing is in short supply in the Desolate Wastelands, thanks to the lack of available resources. What few garments exist are fashioned from the hides of the nameless beasts that dwell in the wastes. Out of respect, the Black Cloud community has bestowed Astra with their finest (i.e., least insubstantial) vestment which he wears on a daily basis. This robe is made from a patchwork of tanned skins, colored crimson with a blood-based solution - the only dye available in the Wastelands. The robe is sleeveless and fairly light, tailored to avoid compounding on the dreadful heat of the barrens.

Personality: Despite being condemned as a criminal, Astra is not a bad person. Though he disagrees with his incarceration, he seeks redemption for his crime, and does so by fulfilling the will of the Gods. His commitment to the cause is reflected in his serious facial expression and manner of movement. He is neither good nor evil by nature, but may commit such acts in accordance with the Gods' wishes (more good than evil). Astra has a strong will and knows no fear.

Gear/Weapons of choice:
Golden Eyes: A pair of smooth, golden spheres that reside in Astra's eye sockets. He claims they are a vital spellcasting component, and without them he cannot access the astral plane.

Abilities:
Astra possesses a handful of magic-like abilities, the exact nature of which is unknown. His talents appear to be unique; he claims they are god-given, but this claim has yet to be substantiated.

Astra claims that he can contact the astral plane - a higher level of existence in which the gods dwell (or at least have partial presence). The shaman uses this ability to commune with the gods, learn their will and do their bidding. Furthermore, the energies of the astral plane sustain and nourish the elf whenever he is present, allowing him to effectively survive through meditation. While the legitimacy of this ability (as well as the existence of the astral plane) has been questioned by skeptics, Astra's continued survival without food or water prevents the skill from being condemned completely.

The shaman is also able to emit an anti-magical pulse (AMP) at will. The AMP is an invisible wave of energy that originates at Astra's head and travels in all directions. The wave dispels any magical effects within its range; magical attacks dissipate instantly, enchantments are cancelled, and so forth. Magical weapons and artifacts lose their magical qualities, but only for the duration of the pulse. Astra can either release the AMP in bursts, in order to protect himself from magical attacks, or sustain the pulse for minutes at a time to prevent the casting of spells. The shaman claims this power to be a gift from the gods for his wholehearted service.

History: Astra came to the Desolate Wastelands long before any of the current prisoners. The exact span of his incarceration is unknown - other Black Cloud are left to infer this from his exile number. In his small enclave of convicts, Astra has become something of a spiritual luminary, using his "divine" talents to guide the lost souls of the Wastelands. Life for him remained fairly constant until he received an alarming vision that prompted him to journey in the direction of civilization...

Other: Probably a full-time participant in the main quest.

Something tells me this character is gonna blow.

Name: David Alexander Ward

Age: 19

Gender: Male - Y chromosome!

Race: Human

Occupation: Musician, Assassin

Appearance: David is damn sexy. He has moderately long, straight, shiny blonde hair. His face is somewhat pale from his parents. He is often believed to be elven due to his skin and figure, but he quickly pushes his hair up or shakes it out of his eyes. He’s athletic, because he runs a lot to get from one gig to another and the heavy lifting of instruments and belongings keeps his torso toned. He also practices parkour in his free time which he uses in his “other” job.

Professionally, he wears what would be considered on Earth a white tuxedo; all of it is made of silk, and the jacket is. Recreationally, he dons leather pants, and a satin shirt with rough leather moccasin style shoes.

When he’s out and about fighting crime, he dons a slim pair of black pants and shirt. He has a black cape and a tattered scarf that he’s had all his life that wraps around his head to cover his  mouth and neck. His hair is uncovered, though.

Personality:
David is pretty much a ****ing psychopath. While he may seem normal and kind (which he is), beneath his professional well kept shell is a terror that no one could comprehend. The best person to compare this personality to is V. He loves the traditional arts and fights for democracy. However, he respects the government, though. He fights against crime and those who oppress the weak. While he prefers not to fight, he realizes that fighting the oppressors so that the oppressed may be free of hardship is the lesser of two evils than letting them run rampant.

Gear/Weapons of choice: David actually wields quite a few weapons. His first weapon and his favorite is a halberd lance. The shaft was hand crafted by him from a madrona branch and the blade is just this cool pointy thingy. His second weapon is a butterfly sword which is sheathed in madrona as well and is disguised as a walking stick. His third weapon is a madrona bow with arrows he crafts himself from Eagle, Falcon and Hawk feathers.

EDIT: The halberd and butterfly are one and the same. Both of the sheaths have a halberd blade crafted to it and are both removable and easily transportable in a sheath on David's back.

Abilities: None at the moment. I’m sure some religious experience will overcome him and he’ll get some badass super power involving lightning.

History:
David was born to a family of various jobs. His mother was a maid in the Emperor’s palace who originally married a musician. However, he died of some ridiculous disease that no one knows about when David was four and she remarried to an officer in the Emperor’s army. He was kind, but wasn’t available much due to his servitude to the emperor. When he was around however, he taught David to fight with various weapons while his mother made him study music. Soon, he was quite skillful in the ways of hit and run combat, because he was too skinny to really hold his ground against someone.

When he was about fourteen, he was asked to perform in the Emperor’s court for a stately dinner. Soon after, he was coming in routinely to perform or provide background music for the Emperor’s events.

David found a new hobby, however. When he was on his way home, he came across a clan of bandits. They were attempting to mug a woman and David managed to take on all seven of them without taking any damage by doing parkour and using the tactics his step-father taught him. David began to do this every night whenever he was out of the house. As such, he slept in very late, but his mother never bothered him because he was  making a lot of  money which he pilfered from the people he caught.

However, David wishes to enroll in the services of the Emperor and serve as either a body guard or a member of the army. His father refuses to let him leave him, though.

Other: David is the only atheist member of his family. He plays the violin, piano, French horn and harmonic (if such things exist in this world). He’s always had perfect pitch. David will be full-time, I think... Not sure. I kind of want him to be the dude that comes in randomly to kick some ass and drink tea, but he'll be all out of tea, but he's the kind of dude who pops in and saves someone epicly and leaves to go do some more ****.

Name: Azoth "Manly" Powers

Age:  29

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Occupation: Fighter

Appearance: Azoth is a large man. He works out every day, and this helps his body immensely. He has huge muscles, and is a mountain of a man, standing at 6'4, and weighing 240 pounds. Azoth has tanned skin, from training in the sun every day. He trains while wearing heavy armor, so when he takes his armor off, he has great speed and agility. Azoth has straight black hair that goes down to his shoulders. He also has a short, well kept chinstrap-type beard. There are some marks and scratches on his face from his fighting career, but Azoth is still fairly handsome.

Azoth has bluish gray eyes. Azoth's armor is fairly new, being that he gains a good amount of money as a talented fighter. It has marks from many sword battles, but still maintains a shine to it. Azoth wears black fingerless gloves on his hands, and new metal boots. Azoth usually does not smile unless he is winning a match or drunk, like most nights. Sometimes, though, he cheers up and dons a new, often-hidden persona filled with laughter and optimism.

Personality: Azoth's personality is quite enigmatic at times. Most of the time, he remains a man of mystery, not speaking of his past. But he also comes with a sense of humor, even though one might call this sense of humor rather dry. Azoth is trained in the art of sarcasm. While he does make jokes, he rarely smiles or laughs. Azoth is an alcoholic with a troubled past. His mother grew ill in his teenage years, and eventually died around his 17th birthday. Azoth turned to the bottle, and also started smoking. His father convinced him to quit smoking, but he kept drinking.

Sometimes during the day, he acts quite cranky, as he has a hangover from the previous night's escapades. He can be a real **** when he is this way, and tends to make enemies fast with his quick-witted insults. Azoth is also quite intelligent, a rare sight for such a talented fighter. He could've picked from any successful occupation, but he was only interested in fighting. As such, he can be violent at times.

Gear/Weapons of choice: Azoth's usual weapon is his trusty longsword. He trains the most with this, and is a force to be reckoned with. He also carries with him hidden sai, which he is also skilled at handling. Azoth is proficient at close combat, but suffers in long range battle.

Abilities: Azoth doesn't have actual abilities, but as he trains with his heavy armor on, he gets extraordinary speed and reflexes when his armor is off. He is also skilled at fighting with his longsword and his sai. He is also great at fighting with his fists, being a professional fighter.

History: Azoth was always intelligent, even as a boy. He wanted to become an alchemist, just like his father and mother. But as he turned 15, his mother grew ill with a mysterious disease. She died as he became 17. Azoth grew depressed, and turned to cigarettes and alcohol. His father got him to quit smoking, but the alcohol grew on him like a parasite. He became a drunk soon, and gained an interest in violence. He was no longer interested in alchemy, and trained with weapons and his fists. He started working out, and grew into quite a powerful man, gaining many pounds of muscle.

Even with all the alcohol he consumes most every night, he doesn't gain fat, as he runs every morning. His dream to be a professional fighter was fulfilled, and he quickly rose through the ranks. His great size and strength brought him the nickname "Manly" to his peers and opponents. He gained lots of money, with which he buys armor and booze. His father also used to have an alcohol problem, and never told his son. Azoth has a younger sister named Serena. She is 26, while Azoth is 29. He is quite protective of her.

Other: Azoth should be a full-time participant in the quest.

@PB: Couple things: First of all, please reword tuxedo into something for fitting for the times like "Imperial Robes, Nobleman's coat, etc". Secondly, while weapon choice is totally up to you, it doesn't make much sense for an assassin to carry a halberd and a butterfly sword; it's up to you but I just thought I would point it out. Lastly, you need to put full or part time in your sign up.

@Wooty: Everything seems to be in order. Accepted.

((Okay, that's acceptable. Now, let's begin!))

============================================================================================

It was a fairly cool summer night. The sky was clear of clouds and the moon was seemed to glow just as brigt as its daytime counterpart, only without the harsh rays. A dark, slender figure bolted through the woods at blurring speeds. Ryden Makoor had been dispatched by his current employer to rid the woods of a camp of bandits that had been raiding many of the caravans his employer needed to sustain his estate. The woods were on the outskirts of Amure, between Amere and Bloomingrove and lined a vital pathway for trade between the citizens in Amure and the small yet famous medicinal shops in Bloomingrove. Life as a mercenary wasn't as glorious as being a high ranking soldier in the Imperial Army but Ryden wasn't looking for glory, he just wanted enough money to get by. He had no idea how many of them to expect but it didn't really matter; these common thugs wouldn't amount to more than a light warm up for Ryden.

A moment later, Ryden set his sights on a collection of three or four campfires spread out over a twenty meter area of semi-open forest. Ryden had to give them credit, they had a strong position. Their camp was positioned up on a small hill with several large stones scattered about the perimeter. Probably some type of old religous ceremonial grounds, thought the white haired mercenary as he sat perched in a large elm tree. One, two, three...sixteen. Ryden counted sixteen of the bandits but suspected there might be a few more, possibly out on patrol or just off on their own. Flipping out of the tree Ryden landed without a sound on the soft, loamy earth below him. The only thing that could be heard in the night besides the faint blabbering of the bandits was the hum of Ryden's short blades magically appearing in the palm of his hands. The s-curved blades he now held had killed countless people, and these bandits were about to be added to that neverending list.

There was no loud battle cry, no intimidating threat called out or the chance for them to recant their actions and go live righteous lives. Instead, Ryden simply moved through the middle of the camp, slicing and cutting the flesh of every man within his reach. Before the bandits even notcied Ryden speeding through their camp, six of them had already been cut down and lay lifeless where they had just seconds ago been enjoying the spoils of their latest attack. Two of them managed to get off a shot with their crossbows but they missed their target and Ryden was once again hidden by the tall trees. With only rapid footsteps cluing them in on his location, Ryden sprinted into the camp once more and headed right for two men standing beside each other with swords drawn. They swung to cut Ryden down but their imprecise attacks were easily evaded by Ryden and they were both slain without effort.

Ryden then turned quickly to deflect a crossbow bolt aimed at his torso. Ryden flipped through the air towards the ranged attacker. He barely even had time to scream for his life before Ryden's bloodstained blade slashed through his neck. Nine of them now lay lifeless on the ground. Ryden had yet to even receive a scratch. The seven that were left were scattered about him in a rouch circle and had drawn their weapons: three swords, three crossbows and a heavy axe. The bandits were now fully prepared to defend themselves, or so they thought. Ryden crouched down on one knee, appearing to concede defeat. The bandits in their supreme arrogance, stepped closer to Ryden, ready to cut him down just as he had done to their comrades. However once they were in close enough, Ryden softly uttered the last words they would ever hear.

"Vision Ripper." The two words, as quiet as they had been spoken, seemed to echo through the woods. The s-curve blades he held in his hands began to glow with a bright violet aura and left Ryden's hands as they ascended above him. The swords stopped at eye level of his enemies and began flying repeatedly in a circle around him. The blades moved so fast they resmebled more of a purple ring around Ryden than two seperate baldes. The bandits had no time to react as the cold steel cut through them like a hot knife through freshly churned butter. As the blades came to a sudden stop, they returned to Ryden's palms and their violet glow faded. The men around him fell dead to the ground. Their surrounding him turned out to be their downfall, even if the outcome would have been the same no matter what they tried.

Ryden stood tall and turned his head to view the blood covered camp, letting out a sigh as he did. The white haired killer vacated the area just as quickly as he had come upon it. He was now headed for the capitol city of Amure to collect his payment.

Oh, god this post sucks!!!!!

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

An audience of noblemen and their spouses in a ballroom applauded a group of musicians upon a stage as they stood up from performing their final number. The musicians were all very old or displeasing to the eyes if not both save for one whose dark blonde hair was quite dashing and he was always managing to make a few of the rich women blush when his eyes rested on them for more than an instant.
As the group packed their instruments away, the nobles flooded out and the women always glanced back at the young man in the corner of the brass section, but the quiet boy took no notice. He had no interest in women.
As he strolled out of the manor with his madrona stave and case in hand, he found himself in a dark alleyway where only the thugs seemed to find comfort. He blocked out the sound of his footsteps and rustle of his clothing to notice he was being followed, and by the sound of it there were at least four behind him.
While most average Amurians might be a little discomforted at the thought of being mugged, David welcomed it. He needed a quick warm up before his nightly justice run.
He crossed an empty street toward another alley. This time, he counted the sets of footsteps he heard; they were increasing. When he was half way through the alley, he stopped. In front of him were eight full grown men and five of them had knives. David turned around to see six more behind him, but he didn’t think that was it. He looked above and saw three more hanging from ropes, eagerly waiting to jump down.
“Good evening, gentlemen,” said David rather casually. “Is something the matter?”
“Your friend put our boss in jail, mate,” said one of them. “He’s going to be exiled soon.”
“I believe you are mistaken,” said David, again. “I don’t have any friends.”
“We know it was you. We seen you with him,” said another man who was missing a few teeth.
“I know not of what you speak of,” said David, a little more sternly. “Now please leave me be, so I may return home.”
“You’re staying right here,” said the first man. He stepped into the light and he was very tall. He was wearing an old shirt with the sleeves ripped from their seams, and all the buttons were missing. His beard was shaggy and David could have sworn he saw a maggot or two in it.
“You see, boy,” he said. “We’re hoping your phantom friend will be here any moment to try to save you and at that time, we nab him and put the two of you up for ransom.”
He walked forward and snatched the rope his cohort was holding and jumped at David who just stood there. The man landed on him and held him the ground, and David’s horn case skidded to the wall and his stave just rolled to the side.
“We’ll see if your phantom friend comes to save you now,” he said with his face no more than an inch from David’s who coughed from the stench of his breath.
“You forgot again, sir,” whispered David. “I told you I don’t have friends.”
“Haha. Don’t give me that ****,” he said, laughing as David held his breath.
“Allow me to inquire; do you mean this ****?” said David.
The man cocked his head and David’s hand flew up to his captor’s face and an explosion of horse manure caused the man to splutter and loosen his grip, giving David more than enough time to grab the knife from the man’s belt and jam his knee into his stomach. One of the other men moved forward with a thrust which David parried with the one in his own hand. As the man lost his balance, David stuck his leg out in front and elbowed him in the back, causing him to flip over onto an oncoming attacker. David then threw the knife at one, aiming for beside their head and as he dodged the unfatal throw, David leapt at him and grabbed his under arm with both hands and spun him around hard enough to knock two of the more passive thugs off their feet. David took this opportunity amongst the chaos to grab his stave. Four more men rushed at him with clubs and knives and David dodged the clubswing with a roll and as he was on his knees jabbed the stave into the groin of another man before swinging it around to bring the other three to their knees.
David leapt back into a corner by a few barrels. He glanced around to find that he had brought eight of them to the ground and it didn’t seem they’d be getting up. David managed to hold his breath while the other men were gasping except for the man who he splattered and shitfaced with horse manure.
“You can’t beat all of us,” he said. “Dead or alive, we’re going to bring you out of this alley.”
“That’s what you  think,” said David. He took his stave and swung it around and a piece of it flew off and hit a man in the face behind shitface. On the sword, there was now a long blade exposed.
“What the-“ shiftace began, but he didn’t have time to finish his sentence as David kicked him behind the knees and brought him to the ground on his face. He looked up seconds later and David was standing over him with his butterfly sword exposed and he could see the faint outlines of his sixteen cothugs around him.
“Who are you?” the man asked, fearfully.
   “The Phantom,” whispered David.

Wow, this looks like a great Rp. I've been debating for a while whether or not I should get back into Rping. This one kinda swayed my choice. Is it still possible to get a spot in this?
