Throughout the history of man there has been one question that has struck fear in every heart when confronted, what awaits us after death? The answer: A new life within the Soul Society. The place where souls go after they die. This world consists of the Rukongai (Rukon District in the English version), where souls first live when they arrive in the Soul Society, and the Seireitei (lit. "Court of Pure Souls"), which is at the center of the Soul Society. The mode of life here closely resembles that of feudal Japan. The human world is for the living. Dead souls gather in the Soul Society. These two worlds are parallel to each other and are two sides of the same coin. Families separated by death are rarely reunited in the Soul Society. People live nestled together like a family of strangers. One never gets hungry (if you don't have spiritual powers) and aging is slowed to a great extent, with lifespans of 2000 or more years not being unheard of, though such ages are limited to Shinigami or other Soul Society dwellers with high spiritual power. Children can even be born ast they are in the Human World. People can also be killed as regular humans are, though they are capable of surviving wounds that would normally be considered fatal. A soul that dies in Soul Society is reincarnated on Earth as a new human with no past memories.
Soul Society is ruled by a king though he is merely a figurehead his existence is undeniable, he commonly leaves the running of Soul Society to the Central 46 Chambers and Nobles. He lives with his family in a palace in a separate dimension in the very core of Soul Society, which is protected by the Royal Guard.
The Central 46 Chambers serve the shinigami royalty (the ruling class of all Soul Society). They are made up of 40 wise men and 6 judges, selected from all of Soul Society. They are sealed into an enclave in Seireitei called Seij?t?kyorin which no one else may enter, regardless of their military or civilian status. They serve as a supreme judiciary organization whose authority puts it in direct control of the legal system. They handle all rulings on Shinigami and souls who have violated prohibitions. Their orders are absolute and no decision has been known to be overturned. Shinigami crimes are judged here, regardless of whether they are committed in the Soul Society or the world of the living. In the event of a Shinigami's execution, they even give leave for the Stealth Force or the Gotei 13 to use lethal force.Their justice is harsh and quick.
The Gotei 13 is the organization which most Shinigami join. It is split into thirteen divisions (hence the name), with several divisions having certain specializations. The 4th Division is the medical/supply division, the 11th Division is the combat division (specialization in swordsmanship), and the 12th Division is the research/scientific division. The 9th Division was shown, in a Shinigami Cup extra, to be in charge of newspaper and magazine-related duties. It's unclear if the other divisions are specialized, as the four above are the only ones who receive any significant attention apart from their members.
Shinigami are a race of spiritual beings that act as enforcers who all share similar supernatural powers. They are souls with a high level of innate Spiritual Energy, recruited from the ranks of the residents and nobility of the Soul Society. Like all spirits, they cannot be detected by normal humans. Shinigami use their Zanpaktou, supernatural swords that are the manifestation of their owners' power, to perform soul burials on Pluses*. Shinigami also use their Zanpaktou as well as magic known as Kido to fight their archenemies, the Hollows*.
Shinigami are the personification of death. Their job is to send spirits to the Soul Society in order to maintain a balance of souls between it and the material world, and to exorcise evil spirits. Because of their duties Shinigami possesses supernatural abilities such as:
Longevity: Shinigami have extended life-spans and it is not uncommon for one to live for thousands of years.
Enhanced Endurance: while they can be injured and die like regular humans, though it takes considerably greater injuries for the latter to occur than it would in regular humans.
Reiryoku: Shinigami also naturally give off Spiritual Energy, which varies greatly in magnitude with the strength of a Shinigami.
Additionally, unlike humans, they do not have to eat anything to sustain themselves, though they engage in the act none the less as Shinigami and other spiritual beings only become hungry when they used too much Spiritual energy
Kido: Kido is the technique that Shinigami use to focus their Spiritual Energy into magic spells of various powers.
Hoho: increase their speed and their height of jump, or float in the air
Zanpaktou: The most prominent supernatural power possessed by a Shinigami is their Zanpaktou, a supernatural sword (commonly in the form of a katana) generated from the Shinigami's soul. A Zanpaktou is a physical manifestation of this force concentrated into a blade. All Shinigami have a Zanpaktou, but not all of them carry one with them.
However, Shingami are not the only power within the soul world a group of humans known as Quincy are also apart of the soul world and battle against the deadly Hollow. The Quincy are a line of spiritually aware human warriors. Originally a mixture of survivors of Hollow attacks and those who had lost loved ones to Hollows, the Quincy developed a variety of supernatural powers to hunt and kill Hollows before they attacked humans (and to destroy those who already had), including the ability to control Spiritual Energy. The Quincy are unique as far as races go in Bleach, because unlike the Hollow or Shinigami, Quincy are still technically human and reside in the world of the living. Unlike the Shinigami, who use a sword as their primary weapon, the Quincy's weapon of choice is a bow.
*Pluses- A plus is the spirit of a person who has died. A chain, known as the Chain of Fate, protrudes from the chest and binds the plus to a location, object or person that they felt close to in life. The soul can move about freely if the chain is broken, but this also causes the chain to corrode. Normally, pluses are sent to Soul Society by Shinigami in a ritual called soul burial (Konso) before this corrosion becomes significant. If the Chain of Fate is corroded entirely before a soul burial can be performed, a Hollow hole will form in the chest of the soul where the chain was once anchored. Such souls are driven mad and become evil ghosts known as Hollows.
*Hollows- are a race of creatures which are born from Human souls who, for various reasons, do not cross over to Soul Society after their death and stay in the Human world for too long. They are corrupt spirits with supernatural powers that devour the souls of both living and deceased humans. Hollows are the principal antagonists at the beginning of the story and remain a primary threat beyond that point. Hollows settle in Hueco Mundo, but can cross over to the human world and Soul Society.Alright, now that the overview of basic information is done, we can move onto the plot for this rp. Additionally if you have any further questions or become confused about something within the rp consult the Bleach Wikia as it has everything you could want to know.
This rp will take place in a parallel universe of the current bleach story, meaning that all current character of the anime do not exist within this story. The rp itself will start out a few hundred years before the date of the main anime story, as it would give us more to play around with story wise.
It is the beginning of the Quincy Shingami war, and both sides have taken a grave amount of casualties, but both sides are hesitant to call their battle a full out war. With each side growing more and more frustrated it is inevitable that the confrontations shall escalate and the damage will become even higher, not only within the Quincy and Shinigami numbers but to the worlds in which they do battle. It is with this current struggle that many other problems arise, such as frequency of Hollow activity, while still fighting a long term battle the Shinigami and Quincy have yet to yield in their duties of exterminating Hollows.
However, with all the spiritual energy being tossed into the air during battles more and more hollows are appearing within the human world, and worse yet their power is growing at a rate not seen before. With Hollows becoming more powerful the frequency of their attacks become increased as well. It would only be a matter of time before the hollow take notice of the changes happening to their power. Yet knowing this, The Quincy and Shingami refuse to declare peace and most fight a two front war, one against each other and another against the vast number of hollow taking advantage of the war.
But the hollows are not the worst enemy that threatens the Soul Society, a mysterious power that has hid within the shadows of the Hollow world for countless centuries has sensed this new development and has seen this as the perfect time for an attack upon the Soul Society and upon the Human world as well. The fate of all living things, human and spiritual, hangs in the air by a delicate thread, as the Shingami Quincy war threatens to create the perfect food source for the Hollow, as well as the perfect distraction for the hidden power.
You are a new addition to the soul world, but that does not mean you are automatically in the Soul Society and a Shinigami. Fate will decide your path, you may be born as a human with unusually high spirit energy, you may be born into the clan of the quincy. Or should evil be your fate, your soul will become corrupt and you shall become the feared Hollow. But maybe you are one of the lucky ones and become the respected Shinigami. However, no matter the path you are given there is always one question which only you can answer: Are you on the side of Good, or on the side of Evil? The road ahead is filled with mystery and adventure, the spirit world is never a dull place as long as you know where to look for the proper excitement.
Laws for Shinigami:
It is against the law for a Shinigami to give their spiritual power to Humans.
It is against the law for a Shinigami to use forbidden Kido
It is against the law for any citizen of Soul Society to create weapons of a dangerous nature not sanctioned by the feudal government. To do so is treason.
It is against the law to attack a captain. To do so is treason.
It is against the law to commit terrorist action or attempt overthrow of the balance of Soul Society. To do so is treason.
It is against the law to commit murder.
It is against the law to kill a human that a Shinigami has not been ordered to kill.
It is forbidden for a Shinigami to acquire Hollow powers
It is by ancient law that two Shinigami cannot hold the same zanpaktou. They must fight for the honor of bearing the spirit, with the spirit going to the winner.
It is against the law for the Gotei 13 to meddle in the affairs of the noble families unless the family in question breaks one of the laws of Soul Society beyond a shadow of a doubt.
It is a crime for a Shinigami to remain in the human world longer than a certain time limit as this is viewed as living a second life.
Punishments:
Exile: Certain crimes allows for the punishment of exile, commonly stripping a Shinigami of their powers and banishing them to the real world.
Detention: A not well known punishment among the citizens of Soul Society is the detention of high level shinigami. Commonly reserved for those who have either broken the law or quit the Gotei 13 or those who just seem dangerous and mentally unstable (as per the governments interpretation).

Now unlike most roleplays this one will take a few choices away from you, I have decided this because without it one class and race would be greatly over populated and not allow for the full range of this rp to be met. So as a warning if you do not like not being able to pick your own power level, race, fighting style, etc, this rp isnt for you.
Here is how it'll work:
There are 7 races (1 Human 2 Arrancar 3 Vizard 4 Shinigami 5 Quincy 6 Bount 7 Hollow) and with the help of Random.org, I shall roll to see which race you are. Now using my character as an example, I rolled a 4 making me a Shinigami.
Since I got Shinigami I must know determine which squad I am in (1-13) I rolled a 3
Next is the rank within that Squad (1-20) I happened to roll a 1, making me the captain
Now, I need a Zanpaktou type (1 physical 2 kido 3 projectile 4 defensive) I rolled a 2
Last but not least, what kind of Zankpaktou (1 normal 2 constanst release 3 dual blade) I rolled a 1

Appearance: Tatsuo is fairly ordinary in terms of his clothing, he, unlike most other shinigami in the court squads, has opted to not make himself look significantly different and thus unique. Physically he is slightly on the thin side and is quite tall in comparrison with other shinigami, his face has very sharp features giving him a slightly menacing appearance. His eyes paint a very different picture than his body does however, as they are sky blue and when one looks into them they can feel the kindness of his nature. His hair is ab unusual shade of silver which has a light purple tint to it, he keeps it long and it is usually down to around below his earlobes. His uniform consists of little change to the standard issue, the black shinigami outfit with straw sandals and white socks. However he ties his Shinigami robe around him with a deep red sash and his captain jacket, along with his shinigami robe, has no sleaves. His Captain's Jacket is however, overly large around the body, allowing Tatsuo to hide his zanpaktou within his jacket. The back of his Captain's jacket has the insignia of his division, the marigold which symbolizes despair. The inside of his Captain's jacket is a shade of light bluish-white and comes down to about mid thigh.
Personality: Tatsuo acts in an aristocratic manner — he seems always serene and apathetic towards other people, even when he is actually deeply conflicted. He is also extremely calm, even in battle, and is very seldom surprised by even the most drastic of actions. Ironically, when he was younger, he was quick to anger and very hotheaded, as shown by a series of scars upon his back from an overconfident attack upon a hollow. Tatsuo is well-respected and highly honorable, and always treats those around him with respect, even those who are weaker or not as highly ranked as he is. As a result, he can be easily approached by many other members of Soul Society who seek favors or advice from the captain. Due to his high moral code, Tatsuo will never let any harm go to either his underlings or those who attempt to protect them. He will never give up if he believes something is wrong and will break a rule to do what is right. He has a keen sense in judging people and knows when they are lonely, despite the fact that he will not comment on this.
History: Before entering the Spirit World, Tatsuo was always aware of the spiritual beings that populate the world, while not knowing what he was seeing he merely thought they were the forces who kept the world in balance. Once he entered the Soul Society his spiritual awareness translated into spiritual power and he was quickly recruited by the 13 court guard squads, being placed into the academy very quickly. During his time in the academy he showed great prowess with the art of Kido, being able to master most incantations and spells in a short amount of time. His success was not limited to Kido, he was also a very accomplished swordsmen and showed significant skill against the toughest of opponents. After graduating from the academy Tatsuo was placed in the 13 squad, which was responsible for communication within the Soul Society and the protection of earth against hollows. During his time in the 13th squad, Tatsuo was sent to earth countless times to stop Hollow attacks, and as such his skill and power rose quickly. He was not without his failures though, one mission where a pack of hollow were about to attack a group of spiritually aware children resulted in the scars he now hides under his clothes, as well as the deaths of the children. Many years passed before Tatsuo would forgive himself and he swore to never again underestimate his opponent. Since that vow he has never lost a human and has never took a mission without the proper backup.(Sorry for the rushed, got kicked off sisters computer)
