((I hope this is decent.))

==============================

A scroll rolled itself up and across the table as another took its place and unraveled itself, displaying its secrets. Amadeus, a blonde scholar took his spectacles and placed them on his nose. He peered through the records of some of the older wars of long ago staged by previous Pharaohs. Amadeus looked over to the closest sundial and realized it was time for him to visit the Pharaoh.
Seth had been grumbling on about a lack of advisors in his midst when he made important decisions. Apparently, the next issue he was facing concerned a certain slave who had run from the court and he was to decide what his fate would be. Though Amadeus wished to have nothing to do with such matters, he understood his need to be at the Pharaoh’s side so he could be relied upon when he was needed.
Amadeus stood up from his table in the vast library of scrolls and walked out, hoping no one would tamper with his records and scrolls on the table. He found himself in a long hall filled with bustling servants who were off delivering messages to various people or retrieving food or other leisurely items for the members of the royal court. Occasionally, Amadeus would wish he had such a simple life of which a servant had, but knew it would get tedious; more so than his work that he did at the present.
The scholar walked down the hall to where the Pharaoh would be, past all the servants, messengers, visitors and other members of the court to the chambers of the God of Egypt.

“You’re late” Seth announced with an irritated tone. Cena bowed her head apologetically and walked up to her station as part of the pharaoh’s sacred court. She slipped the basket of herbs from her back and set it down by a rather luxurious pile of pillows that was her favorite sitting spot before going and standing next to the other priests.

Today a slave was to be judged. He had escaped from the labor and made a dash for the outskirts of the city, but guards had caught him in his attempts. It was a petty crime and surely the Slave possessed no evil ka, but it was the duty of the court and of Pharaoh’s advisors to judge them and extract any possible shadow that might be growing in their hearts. Cena watched as two guards dragged a sullen and frightened man into the hall. The man was bore down by heavy chains and his cheeks were sunken in from lack of enough food.

Cena wondered if the poor slave had been starved in his captivity as punishment already.

”Lord Pharaoh… I do not sense any evil from this man…” She lied, a hand touching the necklace at her throat. Not an entire lie, as Cena did not sense evil from the man, but she still had trouble sensing anything at all. Seth turned his eyes to her, and she held her tongue. He read the expression on her face and he knew.

”Weigh his soul.”

(I'm sorry for how short this is, but if we can just get the roleplay moving a bit more then I can introduce us into the storyline)

Quietly, Kiya walked down the halls, making her way to the Pharaoh’s throne room. Apparently, one of the slaves had escaped from his current residence and tried to get out of the city, his attempt ending in failure. This wasn’t new, slaves trying to escape had happened a few times in the past, and Atem had delt with them accordingly. He always avoided doing anything that may bring harm to them until he had had the opportunity to judge them fairly. Usually, if any darkness was found within them, it was quickly expelled, and the slave was returned for one more chance at life without the trials of Ka teasing their mind and soul. Kiya never had reason to worry…but now that Seth was in Atem’s place, it seemed that it was all she ever did. She knew that Atem had chosen Seth for some reason…but why someone so cold hearted? Seth also had a temper, and she knew with his new power, he could pass an incorrect judgment on someone all because he decided to have a temper tantrum that day. To make sure something like that didn’t happen, she always tried to be there whenever a large decision was being made.

“I won’t let him ruin what Atem worked so hard to build…”

Finally arriving, Kiya entered the room, catching the remnants of Seth’s words.

             “Weigh his soul.”

Drawing her eyes off of his staotic form, she looked to the one in question. A gasp escaped her lips as her eyes widened in shock, her hand rising and covering her mouth. He was in horrible condition. The man’s cheeks had sunken in almost completely, and his eyes looked dull. He was obviously weakened, but still they had him completely chained, which was putting strain on him, though he tried hard to hide it. And to top it all off, whenever he would lean forward a little, the guards would yank on the chains to pull him back up, causing a wince to wash across his face. The free hand still resting at her side suddenly formed into a tight fist, her knuckles turning white as rage began roaring like a fire within her. Kiya had a short temper, it was true, and seeing this had far surpassed what she could stand. Angrily, she walked over to one of the guards, taking the key and slipping it into the lock. Icily, she lifted her gaze, locking onto Seth’s.

“There is no reason to have him chained like this. He is weakened from lack of proper nourishment. All this is doing is causing unnecessary pain and suffering. It was probably you that ordered he have no food while being detained as well. I will let you know right now that actions like that are unacceptable! Atem would have never treated someone this way, and if you truly wish to follow in his steps to keep peace, you should follow his ideals!”

With a loud clunk, the chains slipped from his wrists, Kiya then hastily undoing the rings binding his ankles. Being freed from the weight, the man’s arms swung down, the guards instinctively tightening their hold upon his shoulders, unsure of what to do from the sudden outburst. Normally, she would have been thrown out, but….she had once been the pharaoh’s wife, and Seth had yet to make an order. After completing her task, she handed the keys back, her eyes once again locking onto the man that sat before her.

“I will look into his mind to see if there is anything that could cause a problem. When I am done, and the problem is solved, if there is one, he will be given something to eat before being returned to his quarters. Starving prisoners is a savage ordeal, and it will not be accepted…I will not let it be accepted.”

Slipping the key from around her neck, Kiya walked in front of the man in question, the entire court remaining silent. Cena watched her close friend, glancing at Seth. She would never say it, but Kiya’s outbursts worried her. Sure, it was understandable why she had them…but…her place of power had weakened now, and Seth could easily toss her aside. Cena wondered then…why exactly hadn’t he? Shaking her head, Cena watched as the key was placed before the man’s forehead and turned, Kiya’s eyes dimming a little as they grew half lidded. Slowly, Kiya’s mind went blank, and in a burst of light she found herself standing within a dim hallway, a door just to the right of her. So far, she didn’t sense any Ka, though she hadn’t fully entered his mind yet. Carefully, she walked up to the door, placing her palm upon its warm surface. A soft smile came to her lips. Warmth was a good sign, it meant he had nothing malicious planned, though with how Seth had treated him, one would think he did. Gently, Kiya pushed upon the door, the large piece opening slowly before her. Walking into the chamber, she noticed a few more doorways and a hallway, the room mostly empty. There were a few chairs, and a table with places set out. He wanted a family, that told her, and the overall emptiness was because he had never had much within his life. Nodding gently to herself, Kiya walked over to one of the other doors, placing her hand upon it. Her body went rigid.

“Cold…it’s not freezing…but not nearly like when I first entered…”

Taking a calming breath, Kiya pushed the door open lightly, peeking within the crack. Her body was soon covered in goose bumps as the dark energy within the room seemed to circulate around her. Hurriedly, Kiya made her way out of the main chamber and back into the hall, grasping the key that, in her image at least, still hung loosely around her neck. Soon, her mind was shrouded in complete darkness, the light returning to her eyes as she fully returned to her own body. Shaking her head softly, she drew away from him, slipping the key back around her neck as she turned to look at Seth.

“I sensed something…but it is very small, nothing to worry about. So you better treat this respectfully and fairly, mostly considering that you have punished him quite enough already.”

Looking back to the prisoner, Kiya placed her hand upon his shoulder, offering a comforting smile before walking back to where she belonged, reaching up to lightly touch the charm that always rested close to her throat.

Isis walked down the corridor, though "walked" would not have been the term the young priest would have used.  He was late and he knew that, but the man had things he had to do in the Temple Of Isis.  It had taken longer than the blond had thought (Isis had been cleaning the temple, if only to help out the younger priests).

A sigh escaped his lips, but he put on his calm mask when he stepped into the Throne Room.  Seth sat upon the throne, looking as regal as ever.  The other priests were there and they appeared to be judging the soul of a slave.  From the look of him, Isis could conclude that he was there only because he had tried to escape.  It sickened Isis to look at how mistreated he was, but that was the life of a slave.

((Ugh.  Can't put any more into it right now. D: Sorry it sucks like heck, but...))

"Weigh his soul."

Malik started to step forward to do as his Pharoah commanded, only to be stopped by the outburst of Kiya. Malik calmly stepped back into place, but bit back the contempt he held for Kiya, the one who interfered with is resolute justice. As he watched her probe his mind, he waited impatiently until she "allowed" Seth to continue with the trail. Seth sat stoically as Kiya addressed the council.

"I sensed something…but it is very small, nothing to worry about. So you better treat this respectfully and fairly, mostly considering that you have punished him quite enough already.”

"I will judge him with the same fairness I judge all who have committed a crime." The icy contempt of Malik's words rang across the room as he glided forward toward the slave. He held his scepter before him, a plain golden staff that held the Millenium Scales. From the Crown of Ma'at he wore on his head, he removed the golden feather and gripped it calmly in his left hand, the Scales in his right. The eye on the scales began to shine as the slave's eyes rolled back, a blue aura seeping from his mouth and collecting on the right side of the scale. When the blue aura was completely drained from his body, Malik slowly placed the feather on the left side of the scale. The feather rose slightly, and Malik removed it as the aura seeped back into the man's body. Placing the feather back upon his crown, Malik turned to the council.

"As you have all witnessed, by the test of Ma'at and the Millenium Scales, this man is guilty!" Malik cast his cold glare at Kiya, making sure she understood that only he could prove guilt or innocence. Smiling with a mixture of mockery and pride, he broke the gaze and elegantly made his way back to the right of the throne, taking his place in the line of the council.

"As you have all witnessed, by the test of Ma'at and the Millenium Scales, this man is guilty!" exclaimed Malik, who seemed satisfied that he may as well condemn a man to hell and eternal burning and crucifixion.
As the priest walked back up to his place beside Seth, Amadeus spoke aloud for people around him to hear, praying the pharaoh would be merciful.
“Such matters are for the pharaoh to decide, Malik.” Amadeus’ gaze swept over the scales with malcontent wishing that there were better methods of ‘weighing someone’s worth.’
Seth continued to stare at the starved slave, contemplating the man and Amadeus began to wish he hadn’t spoke out so boldly.

Cena felt the hairs at the back of her neck prickle as the tension in the court reached a pinnacle. She had never expected things to turn out this way. The treatment of the slave had been unfortunate, but with the guilty judgment of the Millennium scales after Kiya’s specific demand that the Slave be treated fairly, Cena could only hope that Seth would resolve the matter himself. The look on the Pharaoh’s face was impossible for her to read. It was his typically stoic expression, but for a hint of evaluation in his eyes.

”The Judgment of the Millennium scales cannot be denounced. The Millennium Key saw an evil Ka in this mans Soul.” Seth said loudly, addressing the court. He lifted a hand from his side and the guards throughout the hall immediately took action. “We will extract the darkness from him, and then I shall decide upon his sentence.” Seth’s voice was cold and harsh, leaving chills across Cena’s skin. She had no doubts that his sentence would be just as harsh as his voice.

It did not take long before the guards returned, escorting servants of the Pharaoh who were dragging a great stone slab into the room. Carefully they moved the heavy block up behind the guilty slave, using robes that had been secured to it to heave it into a standing position. The rock slab towered over the cowering man. Cena had seen these blank faced monstrosities numerous times before. But unlike the ones locked away in the Tablet Sanctuaries, this one did not have a depiction of a monster on its surface.

”Identify the monster in his soul and Seal the evil away.”

Cena’s hand hovered over the eye of her necklace, a look of worry on her face. She wished that she could draw a vision from the necklace. She felt useless to her friends and to the Pharaoh.
