Pokemon: The Shifter
«

Okay, so on the island of Frome, there is no civilization. Pokemon run free, free of humans and Trainers. But a new threat has come to the island. The shifter. Like a genetically altered Ditto, the Shifter can take the shape of any Pokemon, any size, and any texture. It can also alter types, for instance a Fire Corphish. It cannot, however, tweak weaknesses. So that Corphish would be weak to Ground. The Shifter has been killing innocent Pokemon all over the island. Nobody knows why, but it's up to you to stop it. The Elders of the island, which are two Xatu, a Metagross, one Espeon, one Gallade, one Jynx and an Alakazam, have chosen a select few to hunt down and stop the creature before it destroys the island.
Template:
Name: the name of the character
Gender: Duh.
Species: the Pokemon species of your character. No legendaries. No Ditto. And no small helpless creatures, like Shuckle or Magikarp.
Attack of choice: Optional, your character's signature move.
Personality: Your personality.
History: Optional.
Appearance (special): If it's shiny or it only has one eye or its stripes light up when it attacks...etc. Optional.
FOLLOW THE RULES. NO GODMODDING. KILLING ALLOWED, BUT NOT EXCESSIVELY. SAME WITH SWEARING. YOU CAN HAVE UP TO THREE CHARACTERS. I'LL STOP YELLING NOW.
MY TEmplate.
Name: Karashi
Gender: Male
Species: Electabuzz
Attack of choice: Cross Chop
Personality: Karashi is a strong and silent person, but he likes to make friends and live life to its fullest. He's trustworthy and easy to get along with.
History: Nope.
Appearance (special): When he uses electric attacks, his lightningbolt chest lights up.
Name: Alex
Gender: Female
Species: Altaria
Attack of choice: Dragon Pulse
Personality: Alex, beign a GIRL, is sympathetic most of the time. She has been known to pick fightf, but is really a girly-girl inside. She loves to make friends, and is a social butterfly...er, dragonbird...thing. Very outgoing and optimistic. Alex and Karashi have known each other since exactly two weeks, four days and three seconds after birth (for Karashi, anyways. Alex was a bit later.)
History: Again, Nooo thankies.
Appearance (special): Alex is a Shiny Altaria.

Name: Storm
Gender: Female
Species: Luxray
Attack of choice: Discharge
Personality: A silent person, Storm isn't the one to start any conversation, but is actually a good team player. Don't mistake her for being shy, because she really isn't. Once she makes a friend it will last for a life time. All the more, if you anger her, or hurt anyone who she is close with, she won't rest until she got her revenge.
History: Storm is native to Frome, and born not long before the Shifter appeared. She hasn't encountered it yet, but she can't stand the fact that it is killing innocent Pokémon, and out to bring peace back to her home, before it can get to anyone she loves.
Appearance (special): Instead of the usual yellow, Storms fur's white (includes the star on her tail)
Name: Shelly
Gender: Female
Species: Umbreon
Attack of choice: Shadow Ball
Personality: Shelly has that typical popular personality. She's cool and collected, but not rude. She has a sense of humour and is always in for a laugh, though sometimes it can be quite sarcastic. She's friendly overall, but if you get the wrong side of her, you'll certainly have a problem, as she's good at holding grudges.
History: Shelly is born at the same time Storm was, and the two have been childhood friends. Even though they're quite in contrary with their personality, they can never be seperated. Native to Frome, she knows all its secrets, and takes full advantage of it when playing pranks on others. She hates it to see others suffer, and has decided to stop the Shifter and make sure none of her friends and family will be hurt.
Appearance (special): Shelly looks quite unlike any regular Umbreon. Her eyes are a bright emerald green instead of red, a scar is located diagonally on her forehead, right across the yellow ring, and the rings on her tail and ears are like lightningbolts.
Name: Morgan
Gender: Male
Species: Absol
Attack of choice: Night Slash
Personality: Morgan is a silent, withdrawn person. He used to be different, and only if you're really close to him, you can get the better out of him. You won't get a word out of him, nless he has a really good reason to answer. The only time you will actually hear him say something is when he has an idea. He is a good strategist, and makes full use of it, one part his friends Storm and Shelly admire him for.
History: Morgan used to live in Hoenn, but the humans there hunted him as they believed he brought disasters and bad luck to them. He often had to fight his way out, and that changed him from the loving person he was to the silent one he is now. There is nothing known about his past, and even Storm and Shelly aren't informed on everything, as there are things he'd rather keep to himself at the very moment.
Appearance (special): Just any normal Absol, except that he has a lot of scars over his body, especially his front legs and back, the two outstanding ones the one over his left eye, and the other one a huge X-shaped one on his chest, right there in the middle.
((Well, I decided to morph my chars into Pokémon, with a slight alter to their personalities, mostly XDD))

Name: Quil
Gender: Male
Species: Quilava
Attack of choice: Flame Wheel
Personality: Confident but prefers working with others. He has a strong sense of justice and is always planning ahead.
History: Not native to Frome, Quil appeared at around the same time as the shifter, and prefers not talking about his past. He has yet to encounter the shifter in any form, but he quickly heard the rumors and decided to investigate.
Appearance (special): His appearance has more contrast than normal: his fur is darker and his flames are brighter.
{I might want to add more characters later; Would that be alright? For that matter, is there a limit to the number of characters a single person can control?}

Name: Nana
Gender: Female
Species: Eevee
Attack of choice: Dig
Personality: Nana is rather childish, and is very curious, and tends to get into trouble. She enjoys making small mazes in the ground, then dropping small, unsuspecting pokemon into them. Luckily, she doesn't make them hard so it's easy for them to get out. She will sometimes ask alot of questions when there's only one or two people around, but she knows her place amung older and more experienced pokemon. She tends to speak in third person for some odd reason.
History: Nana was abandoned by her parents for her unusual coloring when she was young, but was found by Claire. They treat each other like sisters. The fact that she's an orphen is a sore spot, so she doesn't like to talk about her past.
Appearance (special): Shiny. When she digs underground, she gets covered in dirt so she appears as a dirty normal eevee if she was just digging.
Name: Claire
Gender: Female
Species: Vulpix
Attack of choice: Extra Sensory
Personality: A quiet pokemon, she isn't exactly shy, just more of a listener than a speaker. She likes to talk to people she's close to, but won't say much around strangers. However, she is very kind, but is quick to react to insult. She is alittle quick tempered, so Claire often scolds her on it.
Appearance (special): Her eyes glow red when using fire attacks, and a purple aura appears around her when she uses psychic attacks.

Hey dudes. I'm going to try something different, and attempt to completely revert back to my inner twelve-year-old child. As I'm going through a quarter-age crisis at 20, I've been looking for an RPG reminding me of the fun I had back in the day. Spriter, you've hit home on this. Congratulations, your RPG will never die as long as one person other than me is willing to continue!
***
Name: Kenta
Gender: Male
Species: Kadabra
Attack of choice: Trick
Personality: Kenta has two typical personalities; his serious one and his playful one. (They're shown in Dawn/Dusk and Hoenn Insane, respectively.) When he doesn't have to be serious, you can trust he won't be. He's often chastised by his elders for having natural smarts and not applying them usefully. Kenta would rather use his psychic powers to Teleport, Trick people, and put up barriers to block things. He often cheats at games by using Future Sight to determine his opponent's next moves.
History: A natural introvert, Kenta doesn't care much for social interaction and has poor communication skills. In his days as an Abra, he spent most of his time sleeping (sixteen hours a day to be precise) and dreaming of his own fantasy world where he would have great adventures. When he evolved, Kenta continued to pretend his imaginary friends existed, and for a while, other pokemon avoided him because of his weirdness. You could come across him talking to absolutely nobody, in deep conversation, and if you tried to ask what he was doing, he'd shush you for interrupting. Because he was so lost in his own world, it was a while before he made his first and only real friend, Levian.
Appearance (special): Ever since the Shifters have come to the island, Kenta's Kadabra spoon has shone with more luster than usual. He no longer clutches it in his hand, but keeps it tucked behind his left ear.
Name: Levian
Gender: Male
Species: Staravia
Attack of choice: Endeavor
Personality: As he's had four sisters to influence him, he's been bullied by other male Starly and Staravia for being somewhat of a pansy. As a result, Levian's rather closed to outside contact, preferring to rely on his own abilities to survive. From Kenta's bad influence, he's picked up a rather mischevious nature. Despite his supposed self-support, you can safely guess that Levian's easy to manipulate.
History: Levian's immediate family consisted of a mother and father he never knew too well, and
four sisters
for siblings. Because the females of his flock were gentle and mild, while the males were macho and rough, Levian was torn by how he should behave. During the day, he'd need to be a tough guy around the flock males. During the evenings, he'd have to be docile around his delicate sisters. Eventually developing multiple personalities, Levian's single true friend turned out to be the only other pokemon as psychologically uncoordinated as himself: Kenta. Despite their somewhat awkward relationship, the two of them look out for one another.
Appearance (special): Levian's tailfeathers are longer than most Staravias', giving him slightly better control over his flying. By default, this additionally enables him to fly faster.
Kenta and Levian are both fast strikers, but injure easily. Their strength is in their team battling and tactical effectiveness. Weakness comes in the form of their mental problems.

Member number five has gotten here and is ready to roleplay. Mind if I made my characters awkward and somewhat strong, to the degree where they are third evolution. I am willing to edit them in order to join though. Oh and Kenta... I owe you for Naruto, so I'll repay the favor if I have the chance or have to.
====================
Name: Neo D. Warrior
Gender: Male
Species: Gardevoir
Attack of choice: Psychic
Personality: Neo is the leader of this strange group, he tends to be kind when he’s in a good mood. Neo is kind, generous and likes to help out, but however still has his own goals. Neo is normally kind, helping others when he can, but at the same time Neo is also sorta shy and can be a coward sometimes. Still, he is capable of dealing with his fears by entering a special state of mind that makes him a bit more powerful and pushes him into getting over his fears and recklessly deal with his fear and or problem. But in the end, Neo is a brave, kind and a rebel of sorts. When I say rebel I mean that he believes in his philosophies, philosophies he somehow wrote in a notebook he found which he always carries with him.
History: Upon death, one is reincarnated into another body. Same thing happened here, except Neo didn’t forget his memories from when he was a human kid living in Sinnoh.
Appearance (special): His boobs are less big than that of your average Gardevoir.
Name: Leon G. Magnum
Gender: Male
Species: Electivire
Attack of choice: Punch attacks (Focus, Dynamic, Fire, Ice and Thunder)
Personality: Leon is a selfish, brave, ignorant tough guy that does as he will and doesn’t fear anything. He does not care about the rules, the law and only follows what he thinks is right and he is not afraid to kill anyone who stands in his way. Though he is like that, he can actually get along with others though sometimes he demands a pay for his companionship.
History: Same as Neo.
Appearance (special): He has Emerald green eyes.
Name: Gwen A. Reaper
Gender: Female
Species: Froslass
Attack of choice: Blizzard
Personality: Gwen is a goth, evil, misunderstood and selfish girl that does as she wish and does not care for anyone else’s opinion beside her own unless it’s helpful. She has a troubled past and this caused her to become negative and somewhat evil. While she is evil she tends to make others unhappy and make them cry, she does not cry and she doesn’t smile when being like that, she does however like to see them feel the same pain she feels.
History: Same as Neo.
Appearance (special): Has a black bow instead of a red one

KENTA! DUDE! HI!!!
I missed RPing with the best!
All accepted, very nice special description of a male gardevoir. Made me laugh inside.
I will start...NOW!!! The Council is testing us on different aspects of our individual strengths.

Karashi punched the Metagross as hard as he could. It made a loud echoing sound like a cymbal. The Metagross, Council Elder Malloy, chuckled.
"Good! I felt that one. Once more."
Karashi focused, his right fist glowing blue. Focus Punch hit Malloy in where an organism's gut would be. Malloy grunted.
"Karashi," it conceded. "You are strong indeed. The others embarking on this expedition will find you to be very useful."
Karashi bowed politely. "Thank you, master."

Alex, meanwhile, flew alongside the Xatu, who was Elder Zythe. Zythe propelled himself with a Psybeam, which was almost necessary. Alex loved to fly, and loved to to complexs maneuvers at high speeds. Zythe was wheezing when they landed.
"You are...cough...ready. Top...form. One...last thing. YOu must...cough cough..."
"Yeah?" asked Alex impatiently.
"You...must duel...me."

Is it okay to make up the names for the elders, cuz I wanna know what the Espeon's name ish XD
_______
"Now, it is time to test your abilty to meld with the shadows, as the quest you are about to embark on is one of dangers. It will prove to come in handy when having to spy on your surroundings without being seen," said the Espeon standing opposite of Shelly the Umbreon. The Dark type nodded respectfully and crouched down in her battle stance. Her bright emerald green eyes were constantly locked with the Psychic type, and she was ready to give all she got, even if it was against one of the Elders. Storm the Luxray stood watching from the sidelines, ready to cheer for her friend as the Espeon shot forward in a Quick Attack. Barely able to dodge, Shelly created a set of copies known as Double Team, before they all charged up a black orb, seemingly made out of shadows. The Shadow Ball was sent at the Elder, who calmly countered by steering it from its path using his psychic powers.
"I... need... to concen...trate," the catdog-like black creature muttered under her breath as she tried to ignore the gnawing feeling in the back of her head. It usually meant that someone tried to read her thoughts. "Darn psychic Pokémon," she whispered to herself before leaning back slightly and then throwing herself at the Espeon in an attempt to lock her jaws around his tail. "I... wait, that's it! I have to be one with the background."
The Umbreon quickly retreated into the shadows, and focused on becoming one with her surroundings. From the Espeon's point of view, it was like Shelly faded away into nothing, and he nodded with a smile. "But now, you will have to defeat me in a battle."
This came so unexpected that Shelly tripped and fell, suddenly shooting from the shadows.
-----
"Morgan, you have agreed to take on this quest. Even for me, it remains a mystery why, but if you are sure, I must test your strategic abilities," said an old Alakazam, one of the Elders. The Absol walking slowly beside him was named Morgan, a silent and very withdrawn person. Only when one of the Elders spoke to him, he dared looking up. The scar over his left eye made him look even more down than he usually was.
"Yes, Elder," Morgan said politely and respectfull, daring to meet eyes with the Alakazam. They showed nothing more than compassion and understanding, like the eyes of his friends when he looked into them. He knew it was all meant well, but he also hated it becuase it was like he wasn't normal to them.
Maybe, maybe they are right... maybe I'm not normal
he thought sadly.
"Morgan... I am going to teleport you to the middlt of this forest, and you have to get out of it as soon as possible. It is infested with traps and the like, so you'll have to think up a strategy to get past," said the Alakazam. He lay a hand on Morgan's shoulder and he felt himself being pulled to another place.
_____
This is it for now, Storm's test will be later, as she's gotta get her strength and courage tested, I guess... or something XD

Quil was breathing heavily as he finished yet another lap around the yard that the Elder Gallade had reserved for his tests. '
And that's all of them.
'
"Good work," the Gallade commented.
"Is that really all?" Quil asked, "I could keep that up all day."
"Perhaps it is time to move on to another part of your testing," the Gallade had moved to the middle of the yard, "You most like likely realize this, but you might be forced into a battle at any time, no matter your condition."
"I see," Quil had taken a stance across from the elder, "So I have to fight you now."
The elder charged forward with some version of the slash attack, but was met with a face full of smokescreen while Quil dodged back. The elder retreated to his earlier position and used Double Team to even the odds. However, Quil's next move was Swift, and the illusions could not fool Quil's homing stars. This fight would take a while...

Yes, Shadow of Death, you can totally make up names for the elders yourself, if I haven't done it yet. The Elders are:
Xatu--Zythe
Metagross--Malloy
Gallade
Another Xatu
Jynx
Alakazam
Espeon
Name them at will
_______________
Alex wasted no time. She blasted a Flamethrower at the Xatu, who merely floated out of the way. Zythe retaliated by absorbing sunlight, but he was cut off by a Dragon Pulse from Alex.
Alex loved being a Dragon and Flying type. NOt much could hit her. Except Psychic attacks.
Wouldn't you know it.
As the Psychic hit her, pinning her wings shut, and she spiraled down to earth, she remembered her friends. Heath, Jackle and Tori. The three Pokemon--a Golbat, a Wartortle, and a Growlithe--had disappeared one day and never returned. The Shifter had been sighted exactly four minutes after they disappeared, close to where the three were. Heath and Tori's bodies had been found three days later floating down the river. Jackle had never been found.
Alex's wings seemed to be glued to her body. She thought of her friends. She had to avenge them. With new vigor, she struggled against the mental bonds trapping her. Her wings spread, slowly but surely, and she swooped upwards with a great effort.
"You'll have to do better than that," said Alex. "LEt's see how you like it."
Alex concentrated all of her mind on Zythe's wings with a Mirror Move. Zythe fought back, surprisingly strong for one so old. In fact, though Alex's Psychuc was no match for Zythe's sheer will, it was powerful enough to distract Zythe from the most important thing about a sky battle.
Flying.
Slowly but surely, the Xatu Elder floated down to the ground. He seemed to have no idea that he was falling until he landed. He lost his focus when his feet touched the ground, and for the brief moment he looked around, giving Alex her window.
Zythe was hit with forty-five pounds of Take Down. HE fell back, then righted himself.
"You've done well. I have no more to teach you. Join Karashi at the mouth of the River Qaan."

I sorta forgot that we have to test ourselfs against the elders... crudlady singing at an opera house while the phantom of the opera kills everyone in the opera which makes the crudlady very angry and causes her to kill the phantom of the opera and gain the name the Crudlady of the Opera from hell. What? I like to say small crazy stories like that one, I would have made it longer, but meh.
======================
So Team Sanity was climbing Frosty Mountain to reach the Jynx elder who lived inside a cave in Frosty Mountain. Eventually they reached the cave and were sorta surprised, though humans did not exist, the cave was a bit decorated with items made from ice and it felt homey and somewhat high classed. The cave was big and there were a few rooms and such. But Team Sanity was greated kindly by the elder's followers; a group of Smoochums and other ice types. They were then shown to the part of the cave where the Jynx elder was. It was rather big and had some ice carved into roman style pillars, there was a rug across the room leading to a small chair where the elder sat. In the middle of the room there were a few rocks forming a circle, obviusly this was for training and tasks similiar to that. But overall the place looked high classed and quite fine, maybe the elder had good tastes or was a reincarnation or something, those where the thoughts running through Neo's mind. But anyway, once they were shown to that room, the elder took to his feet and Team Sanity walked towards her. Gwen was walking in the middle while Leon and Neo where on the sides, a bit behind Gwen so it would look like she was the one needing to talk to the elder, not Neo or Leon.
"Hello and welcome to my cave dearies. I'm Lady Timpani one of the elders of this island." Lady Timpani said, speaking in a kind tone of voice.
"Hello Lady Timpani, name's Gwen Angelica Reaper. I've come to test myself against you and get some training." Gwen responded.
"Don't worry, I've heard of you, Team Sanity, the strange trio who tries to help others while dealing with your own problems. So Gwen, are you ready to be tested?" Lady Timpani asked.
At this time Leon and Neo turned around and where about to leave, Gwen also turned around and questioned their actions.
"Why are you two leaving?" Gwen asked.
"We don't need to be here, we'll be outside." Leon answered, turning around to respond to Gwen and then turning back around and continuing to walk outside.
"I have other reasons, I've a bit tired from climbing, I'm going to rest somewhere in this cave." Neo answered, doing the same as Leon.
"Oh, fine then, I'll see you two later I guess." Gwen replied, sounding somewhat dissapointed.
So with those words being said, Leon and Neo left the room, leaving Gwen and Lady Timpani alone.
"First I want to test your pure power, I want you to make a sculpture of yourself in one minute. Do this and I'll be able to judge your dexterity, dextirity means you can focus alot of your power into a single spot or do things more quickly." Lady Timpani ordered.
"Odd, but fine." Gwen replied.
So Gwen quickly used Ice Beam to make a solid ice block and then she started hammering it into her shape using Ice Shards. It was difficult and tidious work, one error and she would need to start over.
One minute later...
Gwen had finished and she did quite well, the sculpture was not that detailed but it had the shape of a Frosslass. Lady Timpani inspected the sculpture and seemed content.
"Nice job Gwen, now that I know you are good at dexterity. I believe it's time I test your stamina. I want you to use your strongest ice attack and continue using it for over three minutes or till you can't use it anymore." Lady Timpani exclaimed.
"Blizzard for over three minutes... seems like a challenge." Gwen replied, gulping but not hesitant.
So Gwen did as she was asked, she moved back and started using Blizzard. It started snowing and the room got colder, but the Elder didn't flinch and the decor didn't break, ever. So Gwen continued, using Blizzard till she couldn't use it no more without. It was a difficult task and she almost wound up stopping a few times, but she managed.
A three minutes or so later...
Gwen was somehow succesfull, she managed to keep Blizzard in use for a total of three minutes with four seconds. Saddly the room was now almost full of snow, like four of five feet. Lady Timpani seemed somewhat satisfied.
"You did well Gwen, you did well. Now before I continue testing you, I want you and your friends to clean up the room." Lady Timpani pointed out.
"Wha? Can't your followers clean up the room or something?" Gwen asked.
"No, it must be you and your friends. Besides, doing this task shows that you are responsible." Lady Timpani replied
"That or something else..." Gwen thought before turning around and leaving the room.

The bunneh has taken a break from it's soul stealing. But bewarned, for a much greater threat will come upon you if you fail to the bunneh even as she rests. That whose name cannot be spoken and whose powers are beyond your comprehension, I off course mean of!

Do we only get tested by one or more of the elders? I was away for a bit so I'm getting a bit mixed up here.
